From Indy, I-69 north to exit 22 toward Anderson. Stay on MLK Drive until Madison Street, and turn right. Field is on the left about a block and a half up.
(Our mapquest directions talked about being on Pendleton, but I never saw a street with that name). |

Safety first, but fun was a VERY close second. Standard rules apply (masks down in the playing area at all times, barrel sleeves, chrono maxed at 260). As mentioned in other reviews, the guys running the show are knowledgeable and friendly, making it a point to try and remember my group members' names before the night was over. Most of us brought our own gear and it cost us $35 each to play, which included renting an HPA tank and 500 rounds of Diablo. It's $40 for entrance and full rental if you don't have anything of your own.
The field is on the smaller side, but that just lends itself to playing fast. The floor is concrete w/gravel, but the footing was great for 99.9% of the night. I slid once, and that was more a function of me running full sprint and deciding to stop on a dime at the last second...I would have slipped on turf or grass under the same circumstances. We played mostly 3x3, no game larger than 5x5 all night. We had all skill levels there, and while I certainly got lit up by the more experienced guys with high-end markers, players rotate in and out of games so much that you get grouped differently throughout the night, so you don't spend the entire evening getting marked by the same players. The playing area itself isn't heated, but the staging area is and that works out well. There's water to spray off your mask between games. They have sodas, water, hot dogs, etc. available for purchase at reasonable prices.
I rated the field a 9, because I think a couple of things could be improved. The field lists hours from 6-10pm. We arrived at 6pm and it took about 40 minutes to get everyone chrono'd and instructed. Turns out the doors open at 5pm, but we weren't aware of that. I asked one of the regulars, who said that it was NOT normal for things to take that long, but people arrived later than normal. In their defense, they ran the field until after 10:30pm to make up for the time. If the chrono area were moved out of the playing arena, that would have helped a lot because those of us who arrived earlier could have been playing while the latecomers were at the chrono.
The only other issue for me was difficulty hearing instructions and referees during play. Part of that is probably the acoustics of the field (it's a large garage/warehouse), but they also pipe in music, which is cool and all but it made it more difficult. Then again, I'm 32 years old with marginal hearing and wore a hooded sweatshirt, so maybe my ears just suck. ;)
Some very minor things that could probably be improved, but the take-home message is this: once you're in, set up, and playing, Sanitarium Sportz is worth the trip and the best of very few options for indoor play in Indiana. |

Decided to check this fairly new indoor feild out after hereing good things from Dan at Indy Extreme. All I can say is that I have never had a better time at an indoor feild. From the minute we walked in till the time we left. The staff was great, very friendly and experianced in the game. These guys have been in the sport for a long time and all they really care about is your safety and that you have a great time. There not here to make a bunch of money and there prices reflect that. Entry and all day air (compressed air/N2 only) is 15 bucks and paint can be purchased in bags of 500 ($15.50) or by the case ($52 even). The paint is good quality (RPS Preminum rounds) and wont give you any trouble. It is feild paint only facility however so dont bother to bring your own. For those who dont have N2 systems, tanks can be rented cheap.
The feild is on the small side 80X60 feet but makes for an extremely fun/fast paced game. For the most part you will play 3 on 3 for most of the night and each round consist of the best of 3 games. This set up allows for a high number of games and a whole lot of action. The refing is great too. The refs will even run in to help people who are hit, off the feild. Much more information is listed on the feilds website which is listed up above in the information section. All I can say is go check this place out, you will have a blast and not have to spend much doing so. I plan to head back in a couple weeks if I get the time. I give this feild a 10 since I have never had such fun playing indoors. |

This place is AWSOME! The safety is good, all normal. The airball field is probably as good as gator joes if not better. The woods field is also a blast! This is definetly the absolute BEST woodsball field that ive been to by far. The hours are good from 1-5 normally. Its about 45$ for a case of paint but it was empire for us so its a good brand of paint, definetly worth the money. Rules are all the same, but there is no bunkering in free play but its aloud in tournaments. The services are great. The staff and reffs are AWESOME they are definetly THE BEST staff that there is in the state. The concession trailer is also good. Overall this is a great place to have a blast with family and friends. 10 out of 10 |

At first its not much to look at but its a lot of fun Bill and Brent are very acknowldgeable when it comes down to marker repairs and to the sport itself,as far as fees they are one of the cheapest around and they sell good quality paint at a reasonable price(unlike other fields in the area)I had bought a remote line off of them and it had blown an o-ring and they repaired it without hesitation(a big kudos for that) then my marker went down and they let me use one of theirs for free(another big kudos). All in all the thing is they took a standard and raised the bar nonetheless higher, and for you all wondering they have a concession stand there also with reasonable prices.
