I have played at the paintball Depot Field in West Milford and at Cousin's Paintball in Manchester, NJ.
Review: I scheduled a company outing with Shooters 365 Paintball. My coworkers and I gave him a deposit and set a date for February 23rd, 2008. I spoke with him two days before the game and we agreed that if it was raining we would postpone the game, however if it was snowing, the game was on. February 23rd came and my coworkers and I, a total of 17 people, all met at his field. We waited for an hour for Rooster to show up, but he never did. I called Rooster multiple times over the next month and never heard back. I finally got a call back when I threatened legal action. However, he still did not return my deposit. So I disputed the charge on my credit card and was able to recover my money from the credit card company.

Shooters 365 seems to have a number of good reviews. Unfortunately, my experience was not a pleasant one. There was some confusion over the weather on the day of the game, but I feel that he should have called me if he was going to cancel, or at least contacted me after the fact to return my deposit or reschedule. Hopefully this will be a learning experience for both sides.

Review: I went to this field with sdaniels. It was in a party with over 20 people. when we got there we met Rooster, the field owner, who was happy and very funny. he gave us a camo and gave us a briefing on safety. We got the rest of our equipment. We went over to the first field, and he started taking pictures of us. He made refrences to animal porn right infront of the birthday boy's parents. The fields were really fun to play on. I had a great expierience with the field. the referees were little kids, and one of them looked like he was 10 years old, but they were still nice and fair. Throughout the day the people who owned the field made several innappropriate comments (i am fine with that, but it was a little uncomfortable around parents).

overall it was a great place, and fun. the speedball needed some work (it consisted of some deflated bunkers and hay bails) but the woods fields are amazing.

I WOULD COME HERE IF I WERE YOU!!

Review: This Place isnt that great. I have been to many backyard establishments and this one is definetly on the bottom. The fields were ghetto. Probably the only thing I liked about this place is that they were big on safety. The teenage staff was cocky. They constantly rushed ya before rounds so you couldnt get a plan together with your team. Only one ref I liked out of the group, I forgot his name, but it was the older asian guy. Rooster is very cocky and should update his website. Website says you can bring your own paint. He got offended and and told me I owe him 120 bucks for the two cases that I brought with me. The paint he has is sterling rec balls, that curve big time. Junk balls. Probably gets them for 20 bucks and charges 60 bucks. I went with a group that paid for 20 cases and only used half and he probably kept the other half and is still bothering me about the 120 bucks. He had a bad attitude, the staff was no good, the fields were unkept and ghetto. Rooster, if you are reading this, You will never see the 120 bucks from me. I will never return to your garbage field again.

Review: This is going to be a complete review, you can skip over this review if its too long, but i wouldn't suggest that you do. I believe that there are MANY reviews on here that causes people to think that this field is great. Some have said that this is better then top gun or , skirmish, they obviously have NOT been to skirmish or top gun.

Safety – It depends on what you mean by safe. The use of goggles and barrel plugs are in full effect and they don’t play games. But as far as field safety wise, it isn’t that safe. It will be in more detailed in the fields section

Fields – There are a couple of fields there. Around 4 woods ball, a speedball, n a junkyard.
The woods ball fields need to be more maintained.

I believe this field is called grinder, there are thorn bushes that got me stuck n scraped me. I was actually afraid that there were like poison ivy or of some sort. So instead of paying full attention to what was going on, I also was looking around not to get poison ivy/oak. There was also a very steep hill, when I mean steep, I’m talking about as if you were to walk up the stairs to your second floor, except it having no stairs, and its very slippery, full of mud, and thorn bushes around you. I believe that the bushes were not cut down because it created some sort of a barrier. If they cut it down, it would require them build another 2/3 bunkers.

The fort – there is a field where you have to defend the fort and someone is to attack. The fort isn’t really a fort, they said that its usually 2 on the top n one on the bottom. Well, I give props to the guys who went into the fort to defend it. Cause it was pretty shady. The fort was a basic square. No bigger then a 5X5 with a ladder that they have made. I honestly didn’t think it was safe, n was defending outside. Tell you the truth, It wasn’t even a fort, if you have ever played at the AIR field in SKIRMISH, its exactly almost the same size as one of the two towers on each side. It was not blocked off completely, meaning there were no boundaries on one of the sides.

Junkyard, lets just say some guy who was running up tripped n fell twice because there was so much debris on the ground. It was basically a speedball field without the Doritos n snakes. It wasn’t that great of a field.

Speedball – Lets just say only half the snake was blown up????

Overall, the fields are ok for a backyard place. THIS IS NOT A PLACE FOR PROS. The fields are all really small. Cannot fit a 20 vs 20 on most fields. The reviews that are on here made this place seem so great and worth traveling 3 hours for.

Hours of operation: We didn’t start until around 12:00!!! If I knew that was the case, I wouldn’t have came at 10:00, I would of came at 12:00 like two other guys did!!!

Rules: Fully automatic allowed???? and 300 chrono??? That’s just insane, there were also little kids playing. Thankfully everyone was pretty responsible and didn’t turn on full automatic n kept the chrono low for the little ones.

Services: I don’t think I needed any.

ProShop: There really isn’t anything in there. I mean, its hard to keep a good amount of stuff in stock if nothing sells, its ok not great like some other reviews, just have ok things in there to get the guns working.

Staff: the staff is rooster and the refs. That’s it

Refs: There’s about 2 good refs. I can tell that some of them have no experience and really cannot run games at all. It seemed like they pulled a few kids off the street and told them to run the games. Very little explanation about the field was given. I believe that all the refs should learn how to use the –N2 fill station, but only 2 of them knew how to. It was kind of funny actually. There is only the N2 station and no C02 station, the C02 station is back at the shop. Refs also need to motivate everyone, we spent a lot of time talking and lunging around. It winded up being the players getting everyone going.

Players: There weren’t enough players. But actually, I honestly don’t think that the fields can accommodate anymore.

Facilities: I believe that the only source of bathroom is at rooster’s house.

Food: Trust me, bring your own. There is basically no food there, although there were hot dogs that were BOILED in water for $2. Luckily I always bring my own food, otherwise, I’d be pretty disappointed and probably would have starved.

Price: Ok I guess, but only if you have your own equipment. Its $30 for entry and air all day, I believe you can bring your own paint. I also HIGHLY RECOMMEND that you bring your own paint. The paint I got was really really bad. Let’s just say I don’t believe that I have shot worse paint in my life. I actually threw a couple of paintballs as I was loading them into the pods because they weren’t even a ball anymore, THEY WERE LOP-SIDED. I also witnessed paintballs rolling out of some people’s barrels. Literally just roll out. Which means that the size of the paintballs were also bad. I have a pretty accurate gun with decent paint, but the paint I received curved 65% of the time.

Overall: I will NOT be going back to this place. I understand that they just started this, but to have all these good reviews about it just isn’t right. You can go there if you want, but don’t expect anything great. If this was your first time, you might have a lot of fun, after all, you are paintballing. But for people that are into it and have played for a while, I suggest you think twice about this field. I might go back after 2 years, hopefully this place will be up and running in its tip top shape. But for now, I will be somewhere else.

This experience was VERY disappointing. NOTHING was what I had expected. DO NOT HAVE HIGH HOPES FOR THIS FIELD!!!!

Review: I will cover my experience from a to z. i was very displeased after my trip to this field after reading the reviews on here which i now have a feeling that something may be fishy here.. this is my opinion and solely my opinion after playing at this particuliar field. Sorry Rooster, Take my review as constructive critisicm.

Safety

Is Highly stressed at this field. This to me is a very big plus as many fields now dont pay very attention to people keeping their masks on. it is a very good way to reinforce safety at your field. The safety lecture was well informed as well, taking up some time but it is something that everyone must know and follow and i give you all the credit because this was inforced very well.

Fields

Fields are simple, biased to one side, not maintained very well, very short, etc. On grinder, there is a huge patch of thorn bushes. Even though a waiver is signed, this is a detail that one should not overlook. Other fields cut these down right away. i should not have to worry about running through a map and coming into the middle of a thorn bush or diving into the grass looking for cover and now having to figure out how to get out it. The Map with the 2 story platform, those steps to climb up are very far apart from each other and make it difficult to climb up and climb back down. The maps overall are very short and boring. The nets on the fields for protection, not the dead zone, the ones in the map, are an unfair advantage due to a person hiding behind it and therefore cannot be hit even though the player is in plain sight. The Fields need to retuned so that each side has a more equal opportunity. It does make it interesting that some some fields are tougher than others, but not all of your fields.

Hours of Operation

Wasn't the fun supposed to start around 10:30 but did not start till almost 12ish...

Prices

Prices are cheap. 55 dollars for a case of paintballs. if i would have known that i could bring my own paint for an xtra 10 dolalrs, i would have brought my own. The paint was terrible. Constantly breaking in the barrel, Curving after the shot right away. just to make sure it wasn't my gun, after arriving back home, pulled some of my leftover paint from skirmish, all went perfectly straight with no curve in my backyard which is about 3 times the length of your speedball course. So i know it is not my gun acting up, but your paint that i purchased. You need to get some better paint. Whats with this additional charge for a gun rental on top of the field charge. Your rentals are still using CO2, all fields now are using N2 for rentals. Time to upgrade those outdated markers.

Rules

Rules are practically universal for any field that you may travel too.

Services

Did not require any service so i cannot comment on this

Proshop

Was not very large, not many parts for all the guns. Prices for the parts that were there were about average cost but nothing there really caught my eye.

Staff and Refs

The Refs need a reality check. Just because they have a ref jersey on does not give them any right to be on a power trip. If i really wanted to but did not, i would have lit them up completely for mouthing off and using profanity in front of children. I can understand profane language with an older crowd if it is being used but not in front of children. Of the four Refs, only two of them had knowledge of the sport. They were very disorganized, and practically did not want to do anything. Players were sitting ready to go meanwhile Refs just talked about everyday life while holding the games up. The Refs need to pump up the people and get them games going. People do not need to go rest after every game for 15-20 minutes. People go there to play, not to sit around and talk. Refs need to motivate and regulate. Towards the end of the day i witnessed Rooster yelling at his refs for not having the speedball field blown up and ready to go. First of all, you never repremand your employees in front of customers. i am not telling you how to run your business but this just upsets your employees and sets them into a bad mood. This is taken care of after the end of the day when all the customers have left and it is cleanup time. Rooster, you do seem like a cool guy, but that was very unprofessional.

Overall

After reading the reviews on here i was excited to come to this field and play. At the end of the day, i was upset that i made the trip to this field. i felt as if i had been mislead. its very hard to believe that pro's go there to play. The fields have the feel as if they had been rushed and are only half-complete. This field i will not be going back to. Maybe in a year or two to see if anything has changed. Otherwise, i shall be going back to fields that i know and trust.

I rate this Field a 3 out of 10...

Review: Staff is good, Prices are great, Well maintained, Reasonble rules, Pro shop is great. But if your borrowing mask dont drop it or scratch lens(3 shot penelty). Oh and rooster if your reading this hobbit still has welts. Prices are also great, only 40$ for a 4000 box of paintballs (only on field paintballs). The courses- Junk yard is alot of fun, speed ball- like any other, death valley (capture the flag)- great, defeand the fort- well designed, and more to come (only opened spring of last year). All together a great place lots of fun i highly recomed it.

Review: First off I've been playing paintball for about 10 years and am happy to say that I've finally found a place that is serious about safety and serious about the amount of games you get to play! Upon arrival at SHOOTERS I was immediately impressed with their attention to safety. Refs actually enforcing the goggle rule even in the chrono area, how refreshing...This pattern of safety first was present all day. This is a major difference from just about every other field in NJ. Most other fields employ teens who either are afraid to enforce safety or just don't care. Not SHOOTERS, Big Al ,the field manager, and Rooster, the owner, are dead serious about safety and they have trained a staff that follows the policy of safety first to the letter. It's nice to go into a staging area without having to worry about some kid test firing his new gun ...

OK, here goes the pros and cons.

Pros: Great staff
large number of games run (if you come to play, this is the place!)
great prices ($30 for all day entry with air), ($55 for a quality case of 2000)
awesome use of land to create 7 different fields!
Pro Shop on site
Hot food, snacks and cold drinks on site
Indoor bathroom!
Unbeatable rental options (Ions, Matrixes, Alias Intimidators, SP-8s, A-5s, etc)
Gun techs on site
Target range (great for those too young to play)
Covered staging areas
Monthly tournaments
Pro Clinics
Pig Roasts!
Birthday parties
Corporate Events
Safety policy
Very knowledgeable owner (Rooster)

The Cons: Outdated web site
Small sign on highway

Overall, I feel SHOOTERS has the most to offer the beginner as well as the experienced baller. Call SHOOTERS (908-534-0365) if you want to play alot of games in a safe environment for a good price.

10 out of 10

Review: it was my first time playing and it was so so so so much fun! When I went it was just me my brother and 2 of his friends, so we had Big Al for the day. We played all of the courses which were amazing. This prices were good from what I've heard about other places but we all spent $90 per person which was entrance (all day CO2) and a case of paintballs, and a few rental things. Also, safety was very stressed, take your mask off once, done, gone, no excuses. Other stuff, the equipment was nice and Big Al was awesome! The only complaints were that we had to wait like 20 minutes for the speedball course to be blown up, it took an hour to actually start playing paintball in general, and that they ran out of CO2 tanks out at the fields, so our, "unlimited CO2 for the day" wasn't really unlimited. But who cares we were tired and about out of paintballs already. So it was fun and definately recomend going.

Tell Big Al that Trey says hi!

p.s. at first i wasn't very good and then Big Al coached me a little and I was kicking but by the end of the day, so that was great.

10 out of 10 for shooters.

Review: Rooster the owner is very friendly and works with you if any problems occur. The fields are great and with good refs like Thunder and Chunda, games flowed well. My only concern was the wait time for Rooster to start our group up due to safety breifing a young kids birthday party. We arrived at 10 but didn't get on the field till 12. Rooster, If you read these, you need to get some one to work behind the counter for you to set up rentals and take in the cash. This way you're freed up to run the safety briefings and roam the fields. But that's just my humble opinion. Other than the early delay another great day of paintball. Looking fwd to the cook outs.
