The Field
Trench style warfare,
---2 trenches facing each other topped with sandbags, lined walls to prevent the soil from collapsing, and mulch covering the bottom to keep you out of the mud
---well constructed bunkers,
carefully constructed with carefully crafted openings and windows
---well groomed paths and brush!
the ground has been carefully cleaned to be rid of dangerous stumps, and deadfall. The brush has been pruned to give good manuverability, without comprimising natural cover.
Future plans are in the works for expanding Bad Bob's with a second field in 2010....
The Staff
The refs are players themselves, but yes, most of the refs are new to reffing. However they are very attenitive to their duties, and are committed to providing a safe and pleasurable experience. To agree with the previous review, They are on there way to becoming "a well oiled machine"
Safety mesurements
Netting is in place to protect players between the field and the staging area. Rules are carefully explained to ALL players every game. All markers are put on the cronograph, including the rental markers.
The pricing
I find the pricing very reasonable to the region.
$0.45 per ounce for CO2 ($0.50 on average for quinte/kingston area)
$1 per 1000psi on HPA (matches average price for region)
(see previous post for the paint pricing)
The players
The players who attend range from newbies to seasoned players, Ages ranging from young to old. The teams are organized to keep it fair and balanced. All efforts are made by the staff to make sure all players enjoy a rewarding experiance.
South of Hwy 401 at exit 582 at 824 Palace Rd Unit 8. Pro Shop is in the parking lot this is where you sign in. When you leave go up the short dirt road to the field.
Review:
Well I never really go up this way but was viting some family and had to get my fix somehow for the long weekend and found the address on this site.
This is a new field but from what I've seen it's one of the better upstarts then I've seen before. The field is really taken care of, no stumps sticking out of the ground , some clear paths with a equal amount of brush (bring long sleeves there are a lot of cedars).
So this is a Woodball field which is used a one big sceario field, which is great because they have a wide selection of games which keeps it interesting the whole day. The biggest work in the field is a huge double sided trench warfare, two huts and nice deep trenchs really gave it that world war type feeling!
Staff was great and helpful, a little fresh and still getting their bearings but after a while I'm sure it will be a well oiled machine, the refs switch out and play as well so you can tell they have a passion for the sport.
Prices were better then the majority of places I've been to and I think this is due to the start so get the deals while they are hot. One bad point was there HPA fill is a little more expensive since they have tanks and tanks of the stuff, so not a cheap fill there sadly.
Short break down of the prices
Rental and Field admission 28 which included a free refill and 100 balls
100 balls 8.00
500 balls 24.00
1000 balls 42.00
A case 68.00
You have to use their paint at the field as the refs do paint checks, no BYOP but not many new places start with it. Good paint to, Nightmare from Badlands (I recognize it anywhere).
I'd go again, they were friendly and from what the owner told me at the end of the day they keep planning on expanding and making a new full field later on in the next year or so , so this place will have some growth.
