I planned an office paintball outing to cpx, but they called me back after I made my reservation and said "sorry you are sol, we have a big game..." So i searched and searched and went with RoR. The place is hard to find, unmarked road signs, dirt roads, whatever. Our party of 10 shows up and they do a "10 minute" (closer to 30) safety briefing. It was long and it sucked, but whatever not that big of a deal, just plan for it.
The refs we had, hands down best refs i have ever had, ever. These guys were running across the field all day doing paint checks every time you moved bunkers, every fire fight they were there, they fixed my friends gun for me, they sprinted back to the staging area when a rental broke to replace it for next round. These refs know their stuff.
The fields were good. The refs help maintain and innovate the fields every week. They are out there digging trenches, stacking blocks, ect. They had a very good variety of fields that were well balanced and fun to play on.
Field paint did not agree with my flatline very much, but worked fine in my friends piranha.
Rental guns are all old piranhas, almost all of them were c02. They shot decent, and if anything went wrong any ref could fix it on the spot or they would run and replace the gun for you.
Hot dogs for lunch were pretty bad, but i wasnt expecting anything else so no points lost there.
Prices were about the same as CPX, for a private group I will go to RoR every time. For open play I would probably go back to CPX most the time. From what they said the big games at RoR are not to be missed. They had about 150 people there last weekend for a big game and I am sad i missed it. |

CPX- way way way too expensive as nice as it is.
Sherwood- awesome but traffic on the interstate on weekends makes it hard
Badlandz- pretty cool, only played once though
Sudden Impact- much smaller than ROR

For those of you that aren't aware this field IS the old Challenge Park. So most of what used to be there still is, along with plenty of additions. The field is plenty fun for open ball or private games since there's a nice assortment of fields to play on. There really any field tapelines since (at least there weren't last time i went) the fields are divided by paths roads and the creek, which works fine so long as you're not playing with blatant cheaters.
Scenario and Big games is what this field is almost designed for. When they open up the entire field for these games it is just epic. The creek makes for fun game play as it splits the field very neatly in two. Fighting is constant for the bridges since most people don't really care to get their feet wet...especially in October. The staff with the help of sponsored teams are always working on additions to the field which recently included the construction of the new concrete block tourney style field this past spring.
The ref staff is great and really enthusiastic. They know what they're doing and like doing it.
I don't know much about the rental situation since I haven't rented any gear in about 8 years. I know they rent 98 Customs and N2 tanks, that's about it.
I have come across some snakes while playing there ("why did it have to be snakes?") But they're not poisonous, and it's not like the field owners can really DO anything about it. It's also very sandy, so you don't have to worry about playing in muddy trenches (you just have to get the sand out of your shoes later)
All in all it's a great field and I'd recommend anyone to play at ROR over CPX just because of the much more friendly environment, better prices, and fair players. |

Realms is a cool place. They have alright fields. If it's your first time PBing this is the place, and if your an expert and looking to blast on some PB noobs this is also the place. But if your looking to spend alot of money go to CPX in Joliet, IL.| Last edited on Monday, March 19th, 2007 at 5:32 pm PST |

i played at ror 4 the 24 hour big game and the first day i was there i set up my camping stuff and all was going oood untill my friend and i walked the feild at night and we were confronted by an intoxicate ref a hispanic guy about 6'2, telling us we had to leave for some bs reason, we walked off and it was cool but the next morning the same guy was in the air booth all hung over and grumpy my buddy had ask if he was filling air and he replys "dose it look like i am, kid" i just think its very unprofessional of them. and that brings me to my next point which that this review will be disputed with in the next 72 hours by a some dude named contractkiller also very unprofessional, my cousin had wrote him a letter and he reply that the chubby hispanic guy dosent even work 4 ror so what kind of copany gives any random dude a ror ref shirt
ROR get a 1 of 10 cuz they r unprofessional

The service was HORRIBLE!! They spent 1 hour explaining the rules (there was at least 30) As far as the fields go they were pretty good, but back to the service, they took us back to the safety area after every game, which is very far and the fill station for tanks is even further, we spent at least 2 and half hours just walking back and fourth. The employees were very rude and the owner was a joke. He will be nice over the phone and promise you everything but as soon as you get there and pay things change. They would not let us choose what type of game we wanted to play or which field we wanted to play on. They checked all guns for FPS every single game which took 30mins every time. It was basically ran by a bunch of kids that have know clue. I brought 32 people to this dump and we spent $3,500.00 and didn’t even get a thank you for coming they actually cut us of at 4:00 and said that was it for the day. Don’t waste your time or money this place is joke. There much better places to go, that will treat you right. |

A few years ago, we were going there about every mounth. I used to love the field (hence my username) duing that time, thw owner loved us, he would talk to us constantly. We all had 1 year memberships. After the year was up, we all canceled for a nother year because we started going to other places that actually had people in open.
Yesterday was a completely different story. We decided to go there because it is sand and wouldnt be a mudpit, and for old school fun. So everything was good until we got paint. The paint was Monsterball. After 3 hours of it being out, it turned to rubber and deformed. We paid $80.00 for paint they get for $15.
All day, the ref and owner was hastleing me after I used xball paint because there stuff wouldnt shoot straight. Also, since we werent "members" we couldnt pull up our cars to the pavilion where we set up. So we had to carry ALL of our gear a long walk.
We gave him over $500 total, and he treated us like we were bad people.
We aren't mad. Were just never going to go back. |

This was my first visit to ROR. So far I enjoy this field the most outdoor wise. Plenty of open and covered areas. I went to this field for the MXS scenario and enjoyed my time. The refs were by far nice and superior. They were skilled and did an outstanding job reffing the scenario. The owners were both really friendly people. The lady (forgot her name) drove out into the field to pick up my friend who is diabetic and had problems that day.
Positives:
Great and skilled refs
Very good field
Negatives:
As of right now I can't think of any.| Last edited on Monday, May 15th, 2006 at 1:14 pm PST |

PROS- if you plan to go to realms more the 2 times buy membership it pays for its self in just two visits at $50 a year
- paint prices are good for a case of premium
- usually a great crowd of regulars who you become on a first name basis with
- a great variety of skill and equipment in the group but you don't get the feeling that 1 guy is just out there to light up the kid with the rental
- refs are some of the best around and for the most part play for a team called wretched seven and they will give you help to improve your game if you ask for it
- owners are great friendly and professional, they are not looking to get rich off the field they run it for the love of the game on the weekends and both have professional jobs during the week
cons
- watch out for the bugs in the forest it is all nataraul terrain 1/3 of the time i went there i brought a tick home with me
- its pretty much all Wood's ball they need an airball field so they can really start to cater not only to the woods ball player because they have that market down pact but the tourney

PROS-Awesome fields and always updating them. Paint is good quality PMI and at 80$ a case a great cost, also if you bought paint here and don't finish it, when you come back you can use it-just tell them FIRST!!, the judges are great and professional!! You can have a cook out also.
CONS-if your coming from Chicago or the North subs. it is a haul, but worth getting here. Monk's castle had a lot of burrs in the sand but it was during the fall season. Need to update their web page more often.
Overall the best fields and prices in the Chicagoland area. They have a couple of scenario games each year and group rates for private parties are good also.| Last edited on Sunday, June 4th, 2006 at 4:08 pm PST |
