Review: Paintball Sams Is one of The Best Outdoor fields in the midwest,Very Safety Oriented,Refs Could use some work on Team Balancing and Field choice based on number of players. They are good at pulling people cheating or hit.The Hyperball field is a blast although it was too snowy to play this weekend. It looks like alot of new bunkers have been built since I was there for the last big game,I also noticed a bunch of new firing range targets that were fun to shoot like Manican Heads with masks and such,Nicaragua has seen better days but it looks like they're working on their promise to" rebuild nicaragua".Big Game Field Was too Big For how few people showed up the last couple times I went. The chronos are good, the prices are good,The people are Great! One time my tank reg broke so they Borrowed me one for no charge!Port-o-Potty style toilets kinda sucks but...Overall I always Have A GREAT Time when I play at Sams instead of some of the other places I've tried.I do wish they had some kind of tournament scene. If you've never been,Try it.If It's Been Awhile,Head back.Things are changing for the better!

Review: I always try to make it to the Sam's Big Games, so my experience is limited to those events. This year's big game was hurting, as Harry retired and was playing. Harry ran a good show, the current staff needs to pick it up a bit.

The paint is a decent price, the event ran smoothly for the most part. Nick was partially flooded from the fall rain a while back so we could only play a partial building to building type field. The numbers were low too, which has been happening a lot lately.

But it's still a good time. Sam's tries to run a good event, and they pull it off. I've heard a lot of people complain the fields were too thick, that's woodsball.

As far as the normal week-to-week, I don't know. I've never been there on a non big game day. But the big game is always worth going to, it nothing else to play in it.

7/10, but my review is only for the big games.

Review: Besides tri-city's crappy 6 inches of oily rubber that you play on which causes players to have no traction at all this has to be one of the least fun places I have played at. First of all I went there for Paintball Sam's BIG game. There maybe were 100 people there and the area we played in was way too large for the amount of people on hand. Second I thought it was a little odd that all the refs had on galoshes until I stepped out on the fields and realized that they are all on marshland! Another beef would be the 30 mins between games; I was there a total of 6 hours and played maybe 7 games. If you weren't that good or too aggressive and got eliminated early you would sit around for almost an hour before the next game would start. Another dislike for the field was the division of people to sides; never was a game even, it was either your side completely dominated or was completely dominated. The refs were pretty good at watching for people getting hit and also about people shooting anything but semi auto. But that did not save the experience.

If you are wanting to go to a good field and you live in the area of Chicago go to CPX in Joliet. They have by far the best field, good refs, fun big games that are organized and quality fields to play on.

Review: I used to brag to everyone on how wonderful sam's was and how their big games were the best in the midwest. But that all changed when Harry left,Harry kept the games alive and fun,but now with him gone and all thats left are the retarded 16 year old refs. The game just lost ALOT of its fun.Like the guy above or below me said Harry played with us in the last big game, and yes the fields are terrible in the fall, the brush is extremly thick and its hard to see where you're going. But in the spring it gets better on account of there not being any plants. In short i was ready to pay the $90+ to play at the big games but now it has just gotten soo bad that i dont even want to drive near it,it stinks soo bad.

The Siege, Action Territory, Black Rain, Paintball Dave's and Paintball Sams. The first 4 are really good! But, there not as big and there not anywhere close to people's houses unlike Paintball Sams! Paintball Sams is 250 acre's of pure adrenaline! When it comes to the Big Games. 800 people easy are there to "kill" others while being a hero and taking a tough victory!
Directions
to the Field:
Take Highway 20 and go on the Express Way. Take it all the down and get off on Highway K. Take a left at the stop and go lights. Go straight at the 4 way stop. Take Highway K down for about 6 miles and take a right where it says "Paintball Sams." The sign is in a couple of tree's. Take the drive-way down about 1/2 mile. Be careful though. The potholes are ENORMOUS! Plus, paintballs might be flying across the road. But, when you actually get there. Use your skill's and mark other's!
Review: Paintball Sams makes you wear goggles and makes sure your barrel plug/ sock is always on. So, others won't get hurt! In fact, they won't let you pretty go anywhere except the proshop and tables w/o your goggles on. There that strict! Which is AWSOME! The 7 fields are scattered across 250 acres! So, you won't be stuck anywhere close to your enemy. Which is a good thing. Because, one of you will have to sacrifice yourself for a move and/or a kill. The fields are Hyperball, a regular field and the rest are in the thick, heavy woods where the Big Games are held and where the bunkers and the village is.
The hours are every Saturday and Sunday from 8:30 A.M. to 4:30 P.M. The leagues are every Thursday from 5:00 to whenever. The prices aren't that bad. For a 16-20 oz. CO2 tank is $4.00 which is cheap! Paintballs are fairly decent when it come to 1000 paintballs-2000 paintballs it can be expensive! But, if you love the sport you'll pay the green. The rules are simple. If you hit your out, always wear your goggles at all times for safety and a sock.plug for safety. Before a game starts. Each team has to be at opposite ends with your guns behind you. The ref will say "3,2,1 go, go , go, go!" And boo-bam your off!

Review: i know im a newb player at paintballing.. but when i went to this years Big Game it was the coolest thing i've done in a long time. Seeing 400+ guys on your side pushing in a line towards the opposing team.. yelling orders and directions.. it was one of the coolest things ive seen. You really felt like you are in a war. The field was awesome.. but i recomend wearing water-proof boots since i waded through about 6+ inches of water in the 2nd game.. The staff rocks.. my friends old spyder compact 2000 broke and we had 2 staff members helping us try and fix it. They also are very helpful with directions and fair on the fields. My friends are all 5+ year vet's of PBS's and go there every year.. and say it's the best around.. and i can't disagree with them. See you in the fall!

Review: I first played on this field last year for their big game. What a riot! There must have been about 800 people there and the teams were just enormous!

The staff is great and the owner (Nikki) is awesome. They do not put up with any screwing off or cheating, so if that is your thing do not even bother showing up or Matt will stick his foot right up your butt!

I heard people complaining about the cost of paint last year, but I think it is a perfect price. You get to play for two days straight with a massive amount of people and the only costs are air refills and paint. It takes alot to get a field this large and with this many people ready to operate. Also to those people who like to come and slip in their own paint....you should be tied up and hosed down with your own paintballs. Also if you are caught using your own paint they will escort you off the field and to the road!

They are working on Nic this year so that should be something to look forward to.

I give PBS a 10/10! Awesome field and the staff is great!

Review: To start out with, I have only played at Paintball Sam's for their big games. Consider this review a glimpse of what you can expect for their big games, and be sure to check out their web site for this season's calendar.

The big games are a woodsball player's dream. The first time I played there were almost 700 players. The staff splits the players into two teams, and starts the teams off at opposite ends of their 250 acre field.

The field features great terrain - heavy woods, clearings, and a swamp, with forts and bunkers spread out across the landscape. There is no comparison to the feeling of seeing several hundred people rushing across the field at the same time... firing and screaming. You'll think you are in the middle of the Civil War.

If you are marked out of the big game, you are encouraged to join your teammates at "Nicaragua." Nicaragua is a good sized field of small buildings, bunkers etc. built for urban combat. Its nice to know that you can keep playing at Nic' even if you are marked out of the big game early.

After the big game, make sure to hit their web site. There are a couple of photographers embedded with the teams. They take tons of pictures and post them pretty quickly. Paintball Sam's web site has links to the photographers' web sites.

You do have to use the field paint, but if you order ahead of time you'll save some money. They have a concession stand and a decent sized store set up - pretty much everything you could ask for.

The players seem to police themselves pretty well (maybe because they know they can go play at Nic') so I don't have any commentary on the ref's.

Overall, its a lot of fun. Newbies and veterans alike should have a lot of fun at the big games. If I get a chance to play the field on a "regular" weekend, I'll add to this review.

Review: Great field, great employees and the owner of Paintball Sam's (Nikki) is friendly and very supportive of the game. Walk-on games on Saturday and Sunday are great for new players or experienced ballers. There are atleast 10 fields, some speed ball but mostly woodsball. Innapropriate behavior is not tolerated and Matt the "GM" is really on top of things. Rentals available and equiptment can be purchased on most Saturdays and Sundays from a member (Steve) who brings his Minivan. New players are helped, given advise by ref's and experienced players alike. Bear Pit, Nicaragua, Barrells, Double Ridge, Near Fort, Full Fort, Brush, Campground, Speedball, Tourney Field, plus the new one (can't remember the name)... The Big Game....Come on out, get the membership, $50 a year for FREE play. Pack a lunch if you need food during the day however, as no food unless it is a big game. Inquiries welcome...

Review: Let me explain this to you all right away! I am not a speed-baller (not that there is anything wrong with it)! But I'm a "scenario" and "Milsim" competitor, and for me to give any field a rating, it must be good! I have been part of the Big Games (700 + players in one game at a time) for the past 3 years and other open events at P.B.S. and it is one of the most interesting and challenging fields I have ventured to.

As the rest have stated, the field does charge $88 for whole case (in advance) and $100 for whole case (for walk-on) for the field bought paint, but everyone must understand that it takes a lot of time and dedication to get a field of this size (250 acres) to not only operate, but meet the standards for many different styles of payers, so they must make the money somehow.

Whether you are a veteran player (who likes picking off the newbies) or the Newbie that wants to try his/her luck at the game (and maybe bag themselves a veteran)
Either way, you will all have a great time at a great place!

~Timber~
