In my opinion this is the worst place in Indiana. If you are a newb don't go here. It will ruin paintball for you. But if you like close quarters shooting and your parents pay for your paintball, or you make a lot of money, i guess this place is for you. I prefer speedball and having a little money when I leave.
Price- Rediculous, you would probably spend $70 if you wanted to have a good time. You have to buy their paint which is $6 for 50 paintballs. I CAN GET 2000 for $25.00!
Facility- Its an old dumpy warehouse, it could be cool if there were lights, but you can;t even see where you are going. All you see is the glow-in-the-dark vest that your opponent wears. One team wears orange, the other wears red. Orange and Red!? there is so much friendly fire! Since it is an indoor place the paint doesn't go anywhere, it just builds up on the ground. So it is slippery and dangerous.
Guns- don't bring your own because they'll jack it up. I went two years ago and paid $22 for a 15 year old pump gun that shot 60 feet.
Gameplay- capture the flag is fun, its nearly impossible to find it but...its still fun. The pink ball game is suicide. You roll a giant pink ball from one end of the field to the other while getting shot from the darkness numerous times. The littlest kid usually gets stuck pushing it.
enough said....
the place would be good if they lowered the price and put some lights in the building.

This field is horrible. I've never quite played anywhere so bad, and whats frustrating is that place has so much potential. Honestly, the only time I played there was about 1996. I was using a Spyder Compact at the time. I was lucky I was even allowed to use it because most people dont get to bring in their own markers. Needless to say, my gun could'nt chrono down to the 220 fps (lowest I've ever seen anywhere) , the guy ended up cutting the main spring of my Spyder down buy about a 3rd to get it there. Why did I let him, simple, he did'nt ask and at the time they didn't let you chrono your own gun (unbelievable) they did it for you. I had to order a new one after I played here. The paint prices are outrageous, the price for play time is outrageous (20+ dollars for just 1 hr). They also dont let you take your extra paint home, yes, they actually make you empty your hopper and your pods back to them and they give you a card to bring back the next time you come to get your paint back. I know its been a long time since I played there, but, from what I hear its not any better. The field itself is pretty cool, one of the neatest set ups I've ever seen for an indoor field, however, its definately not a set up where you could play tourny like settings. To make a long story short, this place caters to only newbies and people who will probably never play again. If your an experienced player, with your own equipment, definately go some place else. I find it funny that this place is a paintball field that snubs actual paintballers. They could do so much better, I dont understand why they have the philosophy they do, but it stinks. |

.....i play paintball here to get it out of my system. in other words this place is not the best. its expensive, you cannot use upgrades that help your bps such as cyclone feed system (A-5), responce trigger, electronic trigger..nothing (you can use electronic loaders) i played here more than thirty times i know all the employees names so i know everything about this place the rentel guns are tippmann pro carbines pump action and semi auto
depending on what firepower your looking to get and you can get upgrades like red dot scope and or flash light ect.
they are somewhat "rip offs" like how you cant bring in your own paint and they over price theres to $18 for 200 pbs AND YOU HAVE TO PAY TO BRING YOUR OWN GUN!!!!! thats off the wall. because i cant use my epiphany i bought a autococker trilly comp. with HPA and a egg3 one of the best mech. guns on the market and i own them all... so i have fun. if you are very familar with sport you wont like it here if you arent its a good place to start out.
(i played here more than 30 times because at the end of the day you get a coupon that allowes you to get in for $6 makeing it a little less money (about $32 per person) |

I took my son to DARK ARMIES for his birthday party and I can't get him to calm down now. He and his friends had a wonderful time. When I made the reservation, it seemed as if there were lots of guidelnes to follow but after experiencing the process, I understand. The check in process seemed highly professional but geared to emphasize the safety of the customers. I told the staff that none of these kids had ever played before and they explained that the training will cover all the questions and encouraged me to attend the training even though I was not participating. The trainer did exactly that and the trainer would not let us leave the class until all of our questions were answered. The game started on time and everything promised was delivered. I felt that my son was placed in most capable hands from the moment we entered. My son said he and his friend had the times of their lives. They were a little messy when they finished but to see him enjoy himself so much is fantastic. I was very surprised that they had been here for 17 years. We had 10 players in our party and the fee was about $25 per person. It included just about everything needed to play. Thats only $12.50 per hour and seemed very reasonable. I don't know where I can entertain a group of teenagers for any thing close to that and know they are supervised the entire time. We will certainly return!!! ... and suggest anyone with a sense of adventure give it a try. |

I had to put a date on the last time I was there, but it really would have been in 1992. First and last trip. From what I can tell it is worse now than what it was then.
It was expensive, dangerous and unsafe. The floors were so slick that you may as well have been running on greased ice. My brother in law slid into a bunker and it moved, the referee pulled him out of the game because the ref said that he had willfully damaged property by moving the bunker. It was stupid.
Dont waste your time or money, this is not what paintball is about. |

i know it says i've been there once but i really have never gone there. however i have several friends that have gone there that are both noobs to the sport and are experienced players. all my friends have says that this place sucks! they say its more like lazer tag than paintball. its dark you can't really see that well and they play crappy techno music in the backround. they charge out rageous prices and they have ridiculous saftey precautions that make it more like airball than paintball. most of my friends weren't even aloud to use their own guns. basically the only thing i've heard good about it is that after a few games the floor gets slick enought with paint that you can literally slide. It's hard to think that it used to be a great place to paintball back in the early 90's! |

This place SUCKS!!!! dont go here they over price everything they charged me 7 bucks for an allen wrench set that i had to buy because they "didnt lend out tools to players" it was around 35 bucks for 2 hours which is outragous all the staffworkers basically hate their job besides the one Asian guy, hes cool, but the refs dont do anything all they do is briefly explain the game then stand there and wave their flash lights around, their rentals suck and are over priced they charge like 12 bucks to rent (which i had to do becuase i couldnt use my gun) and its around 10 dollars if you bring your own gun the paint prices oh my gosh 5 dollars for 50 rounds of paint that explodes grey that you cant even see. the guy at the front desk is a total *** hole and doesnt chrono right he lifts up the chrono away from the barrel like 5 inches away and NO HEAD SHOTS!!! thats the most exposed part of the body, the only thing that i will remember 5 years from now is that this place sucks and to keep your mask down and sock your gun.
a little bit about the field: i like the idea of using an abandoned city that is all messed up with the car wreck scene but you cannot see at all you can see is the orange or the yellow vests of the teams which makes this game feel even more like laser tag then anything else, also its extremely easy to cheat there due to the lighting you cant see any paint explosions!!! and if you ever go there you basically have to crawl to get around or your gonna bust your head on the ground by how slippery it is. it also gets so humid in there that after you walk in there for 5 minutes you will fog up your goggles like it was raining in there even to thermal goggles it just takes a little longer
Employees: like i said before they're not very excited to be there they talk down to players like your retarded and they're mostly a bunch of 20 year old druggies that have a hangover from the night before. they also know absolutly nothing.
Field Regulations: ok i understand the keep your mask down and your gun socked out side of the field but it is very unneccessary when you get out to run down that 40 yard hallway and tap the counter and run back in only to get shot right when you go in, and no head shots!!!! you have to be kidding me!!!! another is the 220 FPS that is definetly not for safety because you have to be like sitting on top of the other player and let the ball roll out of the barrel and land on them or your not going to get them out that has to be so you have to pay extra money to use their equptment which is worth a whole 5 cents.
Rentals: Worst rental prices ever you have a choice to use a pump gun with no accuracy, a semi auto gun (tippmann pro carbine), or a semi auto gun with a little flash light on the side that you dont really get to use because you cant have it on for any longer than a second or your disqualified.
Conclusion: basically dont go here take the time to go down to anderson where i guess white river paintball is at. this place was not made for the love of the game it was to scam people of their money dont go here i'd give this place a triple negative 10 if i could but it gets the honor to be a one |

.this field sucks. its that simple. since i dont feel like writing an original review, ill use the suggested points to cover
safety-decent. they make you watch a safety video. goes for about half an hour. basically, all you would need to know is that keep ur mask on while on the playing field, keep ur barrel covered in the neutral zone, dont point blank shoot people (bad grammar, sorry) and headshots dont count. yes, headshots dont count. someone tell me. if you get shot in the head, shouldnt that be an instant death? someone could turn their head around teh corner with NO FEAR of being shot. this is retarded. obviously getting shot in the back of the head is a bad idea. intentionally aiming for the head from 10-20 ft is a bad idea. but you cant aim paintballs accurately enough to insure you will shoot someone in the chest, leg, w/e. stupid rule
field-indoors in a basement. not a good idea. no windows, so little light. very little light. the black lights dont help much. much too dark. i like to see where my paintballs are going and where the other team is. likewise, im sure they would like to see where i am. much too dark. dont bother renting a flashlight either. you cant keep it on for more than a second<another questionable rule.
prices-grosely overpriced. if you work it out, its roughly $.10/paintball compared to $.03/paintball at gator joes. thats horrible. i shoot a lot of paintballs. it cost me around $60 for my gun (i have my own. ill get to that later), field fee, and paint for 3 hours and 150-200 paintballs. that is horrible. gator joes is (i think) $20 field fee + 1$5 for 500 paintballs. less if you have ur own gun.
rules-typical paintball rules, besides no headshots
staff-maybe they are better at paintball, but i was playin with people who never played before, and they way they talked down to them probly didnt help the initial experience. they should be drawing people to the sport, not pushing them away.
refs-seemed uninterested. stood at the entrance point and waved his flashlight around
players-i went with some friends, so they were fine
facilities-poorly layed out. one entry point for both teams. if you get shot, you leave, tap the desk outside the field, and go back in. the ref would send you to the "right" side upon return. the problem with this is that if one team has another team cornered, a returning player of the cornered team could shoot the other team in teh back. likewise, games go on and on and on and on. the gametype we played mostly was capture the cone (or flag. w/e). the teams could put the cone anywhere on their side as long as it was standing up and on the ground. we hid ours inside a spool. it woudl be impossible for the other team to find it. very slick. felt more like ice skating. slid into the wall a few times. hard to be stealthy when people hear *sssssssssssssss-BOOM"
too business orientated. not player orientated at all. gator joes will adjust for new players or experienced. they are very relaxed in choosing game style. they are serious about safety though.
so, any good points? of course. no matter how bad a place is, it cant kill the fun of paintball.
they day was fun BECAUSE it was paintball. and there was one fun game type. basically a big 3 ft high ball was placed in the middle. teams had to push it to the other side without being shot. first team to get the big ball to the other side wins. really fun. the other team was 3 ft from winning when my team turned it around. we ended up winning. if you want to go to dark armies, go for this game type. thats about the only good thing that came out of this place
finally, if you have an electric gun, dont bother taking it. if you have an a-5, like i do, dont bother taking it. they wont let you use it. why? i have no clue. the guy said they have a list of guns that cant be used, and an a-5 is one of them. makes no sense to me. made no sense to the guy working the desk either.
i wouldnt reccomend this field. at all. if you need a paintball fix over the winter, maybe. and thats only if you cant go out and build snow forts to play
shame the scale doesnt go lower than 1 |
