Maverick- Ok
Riverspat- Very good , smaller , they have an advantage of grass on their speedball field already
Paintball Outpost- Ok, needs work
Springfield Paintball- I prefer never to go there again
Wacky Warriors- Very comparible
Jaegers- hard to compare, cave vs. hills?
Paradise Paintball (Macomb, IL) - speedball but not much else compares
Extreme (in STL) - speedball is similar |

When I first went there in 2001 it was great. There where lots of people good refs,
field layout was good, especially the tent field. The boundaries to the fields where
clearly marked, we played on what ever field WE wanted. But after that the field, the staff
the store, and the amount people declined rapidly. Last year I played twice there and
one of the 'Psychopaths'(old speedball team) was lighting bottle rockets and shooting them at his teammates
when one of the went astray and went through the open window of my truck and out the other side. Needless to say I was ticked. I almost had decided never to go back when I heard that it was under new management. So I went to the Battle for Berlin big game and was very impressed. I am now planing on going to the Frozen Arse IV game
next month and I believe it should be just as good or better.
Follow up.......2008
After the brief stint of playing at Ballistic(2005- first part of 07), We started playing and practicing on the new Speedball field and have pretty much made it our home field. I resently reffed/played in the Frozen Arse scenario game and was impressed by the transformation that Perry has done to the field. There was a great turn out from all over the midwest, lots of refs including the new blood of the MU team, a cleaned up camp grounds and parking area, new bunkers, new netting, and a renewed since of what the field was in its former glory that made it a common name when someone asked where there wasto playin Mid Mo.| Last edited on Sunday, March 2nd, 2008 at 3:51 pm PST |

This field is a classic field to play on. under new managment, Perry is doing a great job. revamping the fields and lots of good things to come this winter. look out in spring because the woodsball fields will be the place toplay. always a great place to play for big games. people there are great and down to earth. always cool stuff in the proshop (cant have everything) and plenty of stuff to snack on (pizza). I am rating this place a 9 because i know what is about to happen there. |

It was my first time going to a "real" field, and I didn't know what to expect. I think for what the owner had to work with, he did a pretty good job. He first chrono'ed our (me and my 10 friends), and he made sure ALL of our guns were below 300 fps. While we were playing, he was consistently checking us for hits. He was very courteous. The field pro shop or whatever was also very helpful in filling our tanks (which is free) and helping us repair our markers. Even though it took a while for us to all get our guns chrono'ed, the ref let us play longer than we paid for. The speedball field we played at was a lot of fun, even though it was rundown. the owner said he sold the field, but recently purchased it back and he was going to bulldoze the entire speedball fields and revamp tem nicely in the near future. I expect great things from this very kind man. |

Ballistic Paintball- 10000000000000000000 times better.
A field that a couple of friends and I built. 20 times better. |

I dont like this field at all. I have gone out there to play 3 times and was not impressed any time. The first I had never played before (about 3 or 4 years ago) with a couple of friends who had jsut started. I almost never played again until tehy talked me into playing out at one of my friends houses on a woodsball course they had built. I smelled like cigarette smoke after being in the building for 10 minutes. The second time I went with my brother and one of my friends. My brother was shooting his bko and my friend had a 98c that is converted to look liek a M16. One of the employees acutally asked my brother how much he paid for his angel refering to his BKO. When we chronoed, I remember one guy whose velocity was around 320 or 330 and they told him good enough and went on to the next person. The third time I played there was at Frozen Arse this last February. It was decently organized but there was still a ton of "slop" in the system. I have been out there a couple of more times just to look at what guns they have and it is mostly low end guns. I went out there to buy a nitro tank for my new freeflow cocker, and they guys thought i should just get a CO2 tank for it. I am never going to go out to Battle Creek again now that Ballistic is open. For me it takes 15 min to get to Battle Creek and 55min or an hour to get to Ballistic and I make the extra drive even with the gas prices as they are any day. |

There aren't very many other fields in the area but the closest probably is Slaughterhouse which is MUCH better than BattleCreek. |

Some of the reviews below i can tell are from people who volunteer ref here and play here all the time. For woodsball, BattleCreek is great. Otherwise leave it alone. The speedball fields are terrible. A friend was behind a stand-up bunker on one of the speedball fields and in the middle of the game there was a gust of wind and the entire bunker fell down. Lemme tell you, he got shot up! Its pathetic that their speedball field is in such terrible condition and they expect us to fix it ourselves before we can play. I paid for paint and air and to play, not to fix the field. The shop is okay, but they do not offer any markers more high end than spyders! I will say though, that their marker repair is good. The reffing is poor and they've been known to have little 13 year olds reffing. The prices are so-so. Overall BattleCreek is O.K. I give it a 4 out of 10. | Last edited on Saturday, April 2nd, 2005 at 8:05 pm PST |

This is a great field with several fields to play. I just found out that thier membership is also good at a field in Freeburg, mo called Slaughter House Paintball. Wow, what a deal. I only pay $50.00 and get memberships in both fields. This field is always thinking up ways to make playing more fun. |

Battle Creek Paintball is without a doubt one of the best fields I have played on. Keep in mind I have been playing since 1997 so I have played many different fields. For most of my paintball career I was a woodsballer. However, now I have joined a team and moved more into the speedball area. What is great about Battle Creek is that is has the best of both worlds.
In all my years of paintball I have spent a good deal of time in the woods. I can easily say that Battle Creek Paintball's wood courses are some of the best I have come across. The field designs make for great games, that are never one sided. Also their woods are not too overgrown to where it becomes impossible to move across the playing fields.
Now for speedball. Battle Creek has some amazing speedball courses. First there is the diamond course. It is made up of various wooden bunkers and makes for great play. They change the arrangement of the course often enough to keep it fun and exciting. Battle Creek also features one of the best hyperball fields I have ever played on (for those of you that are not paintball lingo experts these are speedball fields made up of large diameter sewer pipes standing on end, or lying on the ground, fun stuff). The hyperball field has a tape on one side, a good sized 50 center, 8 stand ups, 2 lay downs, and 5 kneel downs (The field used to have a snake, but it was lost in a flash flood, working on building a new one I hear but the field is still a blast). There are also rumors spread by the field team that a air ball field may be coming soon, so that will kick ass.
Battle Creek also features a unique field unlike any I have previously played. It is fun as hell. It is composed of several trailer homes, some linked together some not. It is crazy to play on, truly a one-of-a-kind field that anyone speedballer or woodsballer will love to play on.
Of course the most important part of any field is paint, pricing, and ref staff. Battle Creek does great in all 3. Several good paint choices, high and middle grades, at really reasonable prices. Refs are without a doubt grade A here.
Overall Battle Creek paintball is a great field. No matter if you are a woodsballer, speedballer, or just a paintball junkie, Battle Creek has it all.| Last edited on Tuesday, August 31st, 2004 at 5:03 pm PST |

if you go there, insist that you play the game your way, and on what field you want to use, if not, they will stick you on teh woodsball field, which isn't a bad setup, it's just that there is so much more. I wanted to play on the compound-14 mobile homes connected to each other with a courtyard in middle. i pleaded with him, but he jsut kept saying "it's under repair".
tuned out that it wasn't under repair. he's just the laziest person on the planet.
so if you go there, DEMAND that you play the field you want.
woodsball is good with 16 or more people, i played on a big field.

Very poor Ref squad refs are hird and dropped at the drop of a dime.
beer cans every were
poor feiled set up
Rick the owner dosnt really run the shop the head ref does.
the only good points to this shop is some of the people like Tack on PBreview goes there and Rick the owner
very unprepared dering games and big games not good place for al types of players only rec ballers
very nasty
i think that if Rick would interview or set some standards on hiring people it might be ok
rick, good luck but me and my team will never play there again and i was told by other discruntled players they will never play there again because of the ref crew bing uneducated unprepared unclean not freindly at manhunt i was yelled at and told to read the rules. what rules? i was never given a rule book nore brefed on game formats or rules. ill never play there again.

Iam a speed ball player. don't get me wrong i like the woods to but nothing git-ts my adrenaline pumping like speed ball. The wood ball fields at this place are so real you will feel just like your in a war. How ever i wish they would use the same effort in to rebuilding there five man speed ball field. Other wise it is a realy good place to play.
There hyper ball field is one of the best fields i have ever played on.
The speed ball players that regularly play there a great help in honing your skills and helping you with your game. Thanks Brett and Derred and every one else.
The refs are awesome and always there to help with any thing especially with the cheaters pi** on those guys. The pro shop is packed full of great stuff but they stuff for there higher end guns.
thanks Rick it has been a pleasure |
