I've been playing at this field for nearly 15 years of and on. With some time off for family etc
I can only say that each time I'm there, I totally enjoy the day. The referees are great and very concerned for safety. The Price to play has come down to probably the lowest level ever, and their playing fields are far better than any other place I've played. Now my son is almost old enough to play at Canobie and I'll be bringing him there.
Other things. They have a new Airball field with Astroturf, Not my game but it looks great. I'm a woods player. They also have food which is good an priced ok.
Again this is the best place to play Paintball and over the years I've been to a lot of them. I always find myself going back to Canobie. |

Reasons not to play Canobie
1. the refs
2.the refs
3.the refs
Gee seems like a problem with the refs...
One example-putting my gun together - putting my barrel in
and a ref comes over and tells my to put a barrel bag on it ..
the gun is not turned on-no hopper-and I had just taken it out of my bag-
he could have gave me a second to put the bag on it that was
lying in front of me......
Another example......I'm the last player on the field and I get hit mutiple times.
no big deal it happens..I yell out and then get hit about 20 more times...
at this point I yell I'm F--kin Out...and the ref comes down on me for swearing..
not on the other players who over shot me..( I think the ref knew them ,
so over shotting was okay...Oh yeah the ref was no more than 20 feet from
me when this all happened.....
So after paying $25.00 entrance fee and this happening--
I packed up my stuff and went to Boston Paintball in
Maynard , Mass. where I had a great day of playying woods
and speed ball-It's funny,I play Canobie about twice a year.
It's only 20 minutes from my house and the fields and grounds
are excellent...but everytime I play there I remember why I don't
like to play there....THE REFS..... |

I've played at Canobie paintball at least a dozen times over the years. Five times in the last two years and a bunch when I was younger 10+ years ago.
Safety = 8
I give an above average rating in thi category, because of their chrono system as well as their field setup. The staging area is set up so that to enter the playing area you pass through a netted wallkway. This allows staff to easily monitor masks going in and barrel bags coming out. This is a great set up for safety!
Also the chrono station is located just inside the entrance and all self equipt players are asked to chrono every time you head out to a game. This is the best way to garantee consistant fps on the field. As important as safety is player constantly complain aboout this. "why do I have to chrono every time" and "I didn't have a wrench so I missed a game" are the two most common. To thease players I'll say when you have been hit at close range with a gun shooting 400fps (as I have) the bloody welt will make you apreciate this rule. Oh and put a wrench in your pocket!
Fields = 5 of 10
They have 6 woodsball fields and two speedball/airball fields. The main attractions are their village and their castle fields. The village is well built with pleanty of room for 50 players. The castle has two towers but is fairly small. Most of the battle happens outside the wallls. Great pics on the website. The other fields are heavily wooded with bunkers made of limbs and some stone walls. I wish they did a beter job of clearing the brush! Overall the fields are average.
Prices = 6 of 10
Entry and air is $20 if you have your own euiptment. If using co2 you get only 2 fills with entrance fee. Paint is well priced, $35 to $65 a case depending on brand.
Rules = 5 of 10
Game rules are simple, attack and defend, elimination, or capture the flag. They don't play any respawn/recycle rules here but game times are usually short and you play each field both ways.
Proshop/servces/staging = 7 of 10
Shop is limited but has what you need, and the tech's are helpful. The HPA fill station is self serve and has 4500psi. Staging area is good, close to parking and has alot of shade covering almost all of the tables.
Canobie Paintball scores 31 of 50 points for me.
This field is very safe and a great place for beginners and party's, but the heavily wooded fields will get old for a more experienced player.| Last edited on Tuesday, July 28th, 2009 at 4:22 am PST |

Well the overall field looks like it would be great for large groups. The refs stink, and seem to argue with all of their customers. Their airsmith was rude and a novice, the field fee is fair on sat for $17 for the day, on the other hand the paint was not at $80 a case the most expensive ive seen yet to date $60 is the average nation wide. but id give it an overall rating of a 5 out of 10. If you are looking to have a big party it seems good, but it isnt walk on friendly. |

Out of all the places that I have gone to play at I really think that Canobie is a great field.
Pro-
1. Their Staff know what they are doing.
2 The fields are big enough to move on and fit a really big group on.
3 Safety is very big there. I remember hearing masks on all the time and where is your barrell bag.
Cons-
1 Really not too much for cons. The place is great. Of course I would like to see more then just the normal sceniros all the time. I have been to other places where they run some pretty different stuff and the people really like it. |

Planet in my opinion is HORRIBLE.
My friends field is actually great for a backyard field.
Canobie is by far the best though. |

Canobie Paintball is a great facility. The place has a bunch of different fields, mostly woodsball fields. There is an airball field there, two actually. But these are not open to the public. You need to have a team and register to play on it. The fields are awesome. The two that I find the best are the "Phantom Village" and the "Castle." The field is not just for one level of paintballers either. You can have just as much fun coming here if it is your very first time, or if you've been playing for 15 years!
Safety- Canobie in my opinion, is very safe. The staff will make sure you have a barrle cover on your gun at all times when your not on the field. The staff also chrones every gun to make sure you are under the alloted velocity. There is a good amount of refs (usually 3) at each and every game.
Fields- Canobie has a great group of fields. My personal favorites, as I stated earlier, are the Castle and the Phantom Village. The castle is a capture and defend course. Around the "castle" is a lot of woods and area to sneak through. The other favorite is the Phantom Village. The Village is layed out on flat ground and made up of wood walls, rocks, dirt mounds, coils, and little "bunkers" (really little house type things with 3 walls). Along with these two fields, there are at least three or four others. They are all great and never get boring.
Prices- In my opinion the overall pricing here is pretty good. The cost to get in is reasonable. On Saturdays it costs 10 dollars to get in and only 15 if you rent. The only catch is that on Saturdays you can only use field paint. The paint is kind of expensive. This is why I usually go on Sundays when it is a BYOP (bring your own paint) Day. It cost 20 dollars to get in and 25 to rent but you can bring your own paint. Co2 filling is good. When you first go in they give you two slips for free Co2 fills. Once those are used, it cost like 4 bucks for a fill.
Proshop- The proshop here is nice. The people are nice and they are helpful. In the proshop you can get Air tanks filled, buy screws, and get things to fix your gun. You can also buy or rent camo suits to blend in when playing. They have gloves and things like that, that you may want to purchase. They also have paint and guns.
Refs- The refs here are nice. They are responcible and they dont really give you a hard time if you act mature. They monitor things well so nothing gets out of hand. They are overall prettty good.
Players- The players here are cool. They range from first-timers to "100-timers." Everyone is nice and the teams are usually split up evenly by skill level and/or guns. The people always seem to be helpful.
Food- At Canobie, they dont have an actual, like cafe or whatever. They have vending machines for sodas and snacks and stuff like theat. But they do have a pizza shop nearby that delivers directly to the field and their pricing isnt bad.
Overall I think Canobie is an awesome paintball facility. You wont feel uncomfortable or out of place whether its your first or 50th time. The people are great, and aside from the paintballs, the pricing isnt outrageous eaither. If your looking for a great mix of woodsball fields then this place is for you!

This is personally my favorite paintball field/ pro shop ive ever played at. Ive have been going to this paintball field since i started playing the sport. The staff there are very helpful and friendly. The fields are very well setup and fun to play on. Its more of a woodsball kind of paintball facility but they do have a great airball field. It has a real good atmosphere and there big games are awsome. If you live near Whindam/ Salem NH i very highly recommend you come play at this facility. |

I have been going to canobie for a long time. For that reason i am now a ref there i know all the feilds and everything about the place. I am not going to give it the benefit of the doubt because i work there and all ,but i will say it is a fun place to play and ref at.
The staff is very friendly, but don't ask stupid questions we think its just dumb if you ask us what a trigger is if you don't know what that is please go play in traffic. Not literally.
The feilds there are just amazing the castle and the village are the most popular for some reason. I am the only ref that actually wants to be in the castle when there is a large group. personnaly i like to get shot i think it is funny and amusing but anyway enough about me people love the feilds there. They have so much fun even the refs have fun...except when you ref little kids and they think it is funny to shoot the refs.
The prices are low the paint prices are very good and the staff all together are really good people, and the rules are simple to fallow...just fallow them they have a 3 strike polocy so don't break the rules.
so with my rating i am only a kid but i will give it the best rating out of all |

Ok I was @ their most recent "big game" and I have to say it was fun BUT it could have been alot better. I agree with the last person in that it was disorganized, the way that they had the field roataions was screwy. They had a group of 3 or so refs for every field and they would ALL go out @ once. My friends and I decided to play castle first and had a blast but heres where it get disoraganized... after we finished we went back to the staging area to reload and such and herd a ref calling 4 the next game.. so we headed right out, but little did we know it was the SAME field we just played at. The probem here was is that while you play one field you miss the others and you end up getting stuck in the same field rotation for a while... so we sat out and about 30 min later we went to another field. I also didn't like all the wait time inbetween games, Sometimes the ref would call 4 a game and we would go, and would sit there for about 30 min be4 we go, which was b/c we were waiting to play the woods field but we couldn't play that until the villiage game was done. And people are more likely to cheat when the wait about 30 or so min. for a game and then get shot in the 1st few min. But overall i had alot of fun and i did think the reffing staff was nice and helpful, but because the games were soo disorganized i give it a 9! But i will defenatly go back on a normal day!! |
