Review: Safety:
Over the time I have used this field something different happens. Safty is enforced with refs telling you to put on masks and barrel socks at entrences and exits.(it gets annoying when you already have it on!)
Fields: Has Spools, castle to castle, president, fort somethin, hyperball, airball, an some other woods fields

Refs:
Some of the refs are buddies with players so don't even try to get a paint check on a guy. There is also a variety in experience in ref. Personally I believe if your under sixteen years of age and you have less than three years of experience you shouldn't ref. Like the time before last there was an incident about a guy lighting up about eight players in three different occasion in a game when they were clearly out. The refs watched the players get hit and didn't say a word or try to stop the player. NOT A WORD So if your playing get an older more experienced ref.
Now for the prices: THe prices are fair not too high or low. No charge on bringing your own paint.
Proshop:
Small proshop but it does stock some gun parts and apparel.
Players:
Watch the wipers and some idiots turn up their guns
Rules are standard
Conclusion:
Great place for a private party birthday ect. Rec-ball is ok i guess. Better ownership that previous owners. Fields are fun. Some refs suck. I rate it a 6.5 rounding to 7.

Review: We chose #1 Paintball for the opener to my friends bachelor party because the website is fantastic. Lots of information, great setup, made the choice easy.

When we arrived, it appeared there was some miscommunication, and our group did not have a private ref as we had originally intended. We talked to the pro shop workers and were able to snag a ref for a few games before his scheduled group showed up. This ref, "rabbit", was great. Just a chill guy and we had a lot of fun getting in three quick private games. Then it all took a turn for the worse.

Several other refs came to inform "rabbit" that his group had arrived, but these refs were completely rude to our entire group, even cursing at us about how we weren't supposed to be in a private group. After a discussion for several minutes with these 15 year olds, they told us to go to the pro shop and settle the issue. The ladies had the refs apologize for their behavior, and we went back to our tables.

Apparently this was just a bad day to come to #1, as they said they were understaffed with refs. Although they were supposedly understaffed, there were typically 3 refs hanging around the staging area, just laying on tables or talking. We waited 30 minutes for the main group to head back out to the fields. This resulted in a 9 minute match with around 50 players on a small field. Rather than a standard, get hit and you're out round, the rules allowed players to come back in if they were hit. Players simply walked back to their respective base and joined back in. The goal was to control the middle of the field, but it was impossible to move anywhere with 25 other players constantly shooting in your direction. After 9 minutes of pointless play, we decided we were done for the day.

I have a feeling this field can be great, lots of options for play, quick pro shop, and competitive prices. But other reviews mentioned problems with staffing, and it seems that they still have these now and then. If you have a group, I'd recommend a private ref to avoid that possibility. While it may have been an off day, we all left #1 paintball very disappointed with the experience.

Review: I've been to this park twice now. Once for a scenario, and once for rec-ball with a private group. I have nothing but good things to say about this place and it's people. The fields are great. There are fields for you tourney-types of airball and hyperball. There are fields for you woodsy-types for attack-and-defend games, elimination in the woods, capture-the-flag, and things like that. The refs are great and sticklers for safety. You can't play without getting your marker speed-checked. Plenty of parking and covered setup areas. Even a pretty nice store on-location!

If you're thinking about going here, do it. You won't regret it.

I give it a 9 because only Jesus is perfect. But this place is outstanding!

Review: My friend and I were headed to the field with his dad for a company game or something. The were kind enough to invite me, so i geared up for a day in the field.
First thing i see from the road is at least 5-6 tarp covered pavilion, and several pballers. I figured the place was good, but I was about to see just how good.
We park and find our group amongst the tarps. There were a ton of them, providing a lot of shade. There was also an easy to use fill station. The staff teaches you how to use the air, which automatically switches off at a certain point to prevent bursts.
The first field was spectacular. The cover was evenly dispersed, but not impossible to sprint to. Games were fast and action packed.
Second, we played the Castle field. That was fun other than being shot in the rear by my own team (simple mistake, no biggie). Anyways, the field was a little wet behind the cover, but still usable. The games were fun, and our ref was always looking for safety stuff. He was relentless about the masks, but we shouldn't have had them off.

Overall, this field is my new favorite and the best i've played at. Prices were great, and they include a podbelt with the rental, which is a BIG + in my book. Fields and staging areas were clean and well kept, refs and staff knowledgable and helpful, and i had a great time. I look forward to future games there.

Review: To begin 1pb has hit the nail on the head when it comes to paintballing in Houston. They are an extremely aggressive corporation looking to expand the sport of paintball, and they are doing a very good job at it. Since 1pb has taken over the field it now has a new pro shop, the fields have netting around all of them, everything is taken care of top notch. If you really want to play some paintball this is the place to go, no lines, everything is quick and easy to do. They now even have 2 nitrogen take fill stations that you use yourself, so instead of waiting in a line to fill you get to do it yourself and its quick and easy. If you are reading this review and new to paintball I personally ask you to visit this field you will NOT be disappointed. This is 1pb's number ( 281) 257-3300. I was impressed when I called and someone answered the first ring and answered my questions in less than a second. The staff here is very friendly and very motivated at what they do. I can't say enough good things about this field, everyone is welcome here and there is a wide range of players from 10 years old up to 50+ and everyone has fun. The time between games is just perfect 10-15 minutes, so no long waiting periods between games. The fields themselves are awesome. I have been playing paintball for 7 years now and although I live closer to another field at home, 1pb will be my home playing field.

Review: Safety - Theyre very big on safety, they make you always wear a barrel sock on ur gun and always have a helmet on while in the net.

Fields - they have some of the best fields ive ever seen, and they also have a very big variety, such as 2 speedball, castle to castle(favorate), hyperball, spools, castle greystoke, borichaville(spelled wrong i think), and many others which are all very well made and layed out.

Hours - the hours are 8-8 i think but theyre getting lights so you can play later i believe.

Prices - 26$ for all day play and air, and paint is fairly good priced, but u can also bring reciepts from certain places giving u half of all day play and air.

Rules - they have standard rules nothing out of the ordinarry, u get shot ur out. always have barrel sock outside net, no bonus balling, no bunkering on weekends except in certain place, 280 velocity and u must get chroned.

Services - if u ever need a gun fixed or a extra o-ring they always have it, they fill ur co2 and u fill ur hpa.

Staff - theyre very nice but sometimes it takes a long time for things that could be done much faster, but theyre all smart and know what theyre doing

Refs - they have alot of young refs but they all know how to play and make good calls and know what theyre doing.

Players - theres alot of variety and u can stick with ur friends in most games and they split u up even most of the time(cant make it completly)

Facilities - they only have porta potties which kinda stinks but other then that everything is awesome

Food- they have snacks and drinks and u can order pizza from papa-johns.

notes - they need a pro-shop that would be awesome and sometimes we wait along time inbetween games. if theyres alot of people they usually split it up or go to a bigger field. It would be good if they had better restrooms

other then that i give it a 9 of 10 because ive never been to another field and other small things.

Review: There very strict about masks and barrel cover which is good for safety. The fields are sweet! They've got airball, castle to castle, spools and woodsball. Theyre supposed to close at 8 but its whenever everyone is done so its fun they got lights so its awesome. Its only 25 dollars for all day and 100 for group all day. They make you wear your goggles the second you walk through net, and barrel covers until inside net. Plus no dead man walking. They give unlimited air with 25 dollars. They let people sell theyre stuff under the tents. The owners the best and the airsmith and the secretarys are nice. It seems like theyre always short on refs. The semi-pro team "The WARTHOGS" are always there becuase #1 sponsors them. There porta-potties are clean. They sell drinks an you can order pizza.

Review: Me and my friends had made paintball usa our homefield from the time we first started playing. Then we where dissapointed when we heard they where going out of management.

To our supprise one day as we drove by instead of seeing an empty field we saw a completely REVAMPED paintball field. We went out the next weekend and where amazed by the improvements. Not only where the feilds completely and thoughly redone but the whole lay out was 10x better. The ref count was also way up making it much better and much more eventfull allowing for much quicker games and less down time.

And as if the immidiate improvements wherent enough they have continued to take advice and put money into the fields and staging area rather than their pockets.

Now understandably they can get short handed on some days and you may not get as many games in as you want but personally i'm willing to put up with understandable delay's such as that.

Another thing is #1pb is really striving to further paintball as a sport by offering free passes to first timers if reffered by a friend. ( i cant think of any other place that does this) They have also put together a VERY nice webpage that is helpfull in pretty much everyway needed. And finally,....a paintball park that takes care of thier bathrooms!

Review: Started playing paintball 12-13 years ago and this was by far the worst experience I've had at a field. Posting this with the intent that it will help improve the field, location is close to me and someday I would consider returning if improvements were made.

Fields:

Fields were the best part of this place, several interesting scenarios and a good mix of woodsball or speedball/airball. This place is big enough to run several games at once on several fields but for some reason they were cramming 65-70+ players on ONE field. These are the walk-on players, they had a small private group that was going on as well that was always on a different field.

The airball fields all needed to be inflated, 80% of the bunkers were really low, some were almost completely flat on the ground, and several hadn't been re-staked to the ground. Never saw anyone go out to fill them.

Smaller speedball/reel fields were in great condition and lots of fun to play on, even though they were crammed with people and getting shot by your own team was common.

They do split the groups fairly and let each team switch sides before leaving the field, A+ there.

Refs:

The ref's themselves were really nice, fair, and good at their job. The problem was they only had 2 for all the players at the field. The private group did have their own, not sure if it was 1 or 2. But either way, this place is really skimping and needs to hire enough employees to actually handle their customer base.

At one point we had 31-33 players per team CRAMMED into one small Airball field. Thats SIXTY-TWO people on one small field with 2 refs. People were stacked like sardines behind each bunker, sometimes 5-6 people behind the same one. I moved forward at the start to avoid some of that, still ended up with 3 people at my same bunker. One of the guys in my same bunker was shooting over my shoulder and put a paintball right into my halo screen, crushed and cracked the digital screen and completely busted the whole thing. Can't really blame the player as he didn't have anywhere else to go, the field has very poor service for the number of customers visiting their location. Turned out to be a very expensive day at the field for me and I'll have to buy a new Halo before I can play anywhere again.

Again, the refs they had were top notch but it is a very poor business practice to treat your customer base that way. Several other players were asking the refs if they could split the group up as 70 ppl on one small field was getting ridiculous, the reply was "there aren't anymore refs". They have enough fields, just need to make use of them.

Other employees were also very friendly, quick to sign in and quick to get your tanks filled.

Location:[b/]

Location was very easy to find, and the area is great for paintball. They have good land and a great setup, lots of lights on the fields, and plenty of parking space.

Safety:

Most fields I've been to lately are pretty consistent on safety, everyone does a good job of ensuring the basic safety standards are met. Even players remind other players to keep their barrel sock on or mask down. A+

Prices, Rules, Facilities:

All of these were fair and comparable to other locations in the Houston area. A+

Conclusion:

This field has alot of potential, maybe I came on an offday and it is usually better. All I can say is if they have even half of that many customers on a regular basis they should be able to afford the staff to properly run the place. Heck the place would probably be even more profitable if they had 3-4 games going at once and people didn't have to wait for 30 vs 30 games to end before they could play again. Setup 3-4 ref groups taking people out and you would have continuous games going. Players that were out or ready to go play again could just hop in to another game. More paint getting shot, more enjoyment by the customers, better use of the fields....more $$ anyway you look at it.

Adding a regular chrono to the practice range would be a nice addition as well, only had handheld ones available.

Review: Of the fields I have been to, #1 Paintball on Grant Road has been the best yet. I like the woods mostly so I cannot comment on the airball fields. The links to the site provide pictures, information, prices and such, so I will just comment on my overall experience there.

Overall I like the park on Grant Road. There are several woods fields that are in good shape and some can take large groups (30vs30) no problem. Parking is good and it is close the services and fields. I like that fact that a group of us can hang out at the cars in between games and relax.

Dealing with the staff with arrangements for private groups is easy, they do what they can to get you the cheapest price.

The park is clean, provides some covered area for groups, they have water station and chrono/shooting range. There is a tech guy there that can help you fix your gear and they fill HPA.

Overall you get the impression that the owners are trying to run a professional operation and they are in it for the long haul.

My only beef has been with the refs., let me point out:
- at times there has been not enough refs to keep it running smooth
- some of the young refs are not able to keep focused on the group and fool around abit to much

Now, when I was a young teenager I was not very focused either, so I cannot blame them. But they need a few more people that are more mature and can handle a group of adults. I have seen young guys get intimidated when there has been overshooting and disputes about wiping etc. Nothing worse than having adults act like 9 year olds (happens allot I am afraid) and the ref is afraid to stand there ground enforce park rules.

That being said, there are some refs there that are great, in time I bet they will find more.
