Review: The Field is good. I don't have any problems with the field or the people that run it.

. . . Although the paint is expensive. Diablo Formula 13 is $55 a case at the store, and $65 at the field. I have seen Diablo Formula 13 for $39 elsewhere.

I DO HOWEVER HAVE PROBLEMS WITH THE STORE.

I recently got into paintball. Until recently, there were no other stores locally, so I was buying my equipment / paint from Gotcha's store. I have been to the store several times, and have spent several hundred of dollars there.

Without exception, every time I have gone to the store, the guy there has been VERY RUDE. Not just to me, but to other customers too. I was there two weeks ago (for the last time), and a guy came in with a Shocker PB gun, explained that he bought it from a guy at work, and needed everything else to play (mask, tank, hopper, paint . . . ). This guy spent some serious cash, and the guy at the counter was TOTALLY RUDE. Even though this guy was spending hundreds of dollars, the guy at the counter wouldn't answer the customer's questions, and was a total jerk. I ended up leaving the store the same time this other guy did, and he said to me that he had never had anyone be so rude to him before. We are both adults (over 40), and the guy at the counter is also older, so there is no excuse.

Too bad. I will not go back (neither will the other guy), and I won't go to the field anymore because of this, either.

There are other stores that will take my money.

Review: I will cover a few things.

FIELD- Very good rates, and good fields although they could add a little more variety. Alot of new players go, but there are still good turnouts of decent players. Fields are as listed.

1.) Hyperball- Medium, and Awsome layout, and liked how it has a snake.

2.) Super Airball- Small, but great. Altough typically only the experienced people go on it, they are still a good turnout. It also has a snake.

3.) Xball- Large, and takes a bit longer in general for the game to end. The only thing i would change about it is adding a snake. Has alot of bunkers, but not too much to make it easy.

4.) Freak- Very small, only good for 3 on 3's. Pretty decent field layout, and one huge bunker in the middle right next to the snake. Speaking of the snake, its very small, shaped like a very wide angled "V". Its low, so you have to either crouch very low, or get on your stomach or back. All in all, its cool.

5.) Woodsball- Large with very cool field design. They have 1 large fort in the middle thats circular with 2 door openings, and numerous windows. and 2 other smaller forts on the opposite sides of the fields. lt has a slightly elevated path nicknamed "Lambridge" which offers great shots on the opposing team. Only downside of the path is it dosent have very many bunkers, but the ones it does have have 4 sides and offer great protection. Other bunkers on the field are a few "Tiki huts", and numerous bunkers made of stacked logs, twigs, branches, etc...

STORE- They have a great inventory, and good well trained employees. Very good operating hours, and if they dont have the part they will order it for you. Only downside is there prices are too high in my opinion.

TEAM- Believe it or not, gotcha has a team. they practice every other sunday from 9-12.
Also, every couple of months, they hold tryouts. Ive never actually played with them, but im hoping to this weekend. Thats another cool thing, they let walkons play with them when there practicing. Im not sure if they get discounts on paint or not though. But overall, i recomend them.

Review: Kinda costly but not to bad. People are friendly. The store sucks! Field is nasty! They have a good nuber of fields though so thats a plus. The woods field is the nicest i think. Staff is friendly but kinda slow and dumb. LOTS OF NOBS! They run an electic class and a Mech class and when they combine the two they only let the Electtric guys use hoppers no tubes! Paint is Ok.

Well, its a bit hard to miss. when you are going down the road, on the right, you shoud see a small dirt road, go on it, and BAM! your at the field.
Review: This field is awsome. they currently have.....

1. Woodsball (large)- built "forts", now its even better!

2. Airball (small)- they re-arranged it a bit for the tournament, but still the same basic layout.

3. X-Ball (medium)- re-did x-ball with new bunkers

4. Hyperball (medium)- still the same...

and another field right by the hyperball field that is going to be a speedball field made of barrels.

staff- Are awsome. they are strict about safety, and pay good attention in games.

paint- Well, a bit expensive if you ask me, but accurate.

fields- Routinely kept tidey, and clean

players- everyone ive met so-far was nice, and 1 person even let me use there tournament gun which probaly cost up to $600. Also alot of noobs.

A great field in my opinion. although alot of "noobs" usually go, theres still always a good amount of experienced players to play against. GREAT FIELD, GO.

Review: Pretty good field, everyone seemed pretty nice. Me and a bunch of new people i brought along went and it was a friendly atmosphere. It was really a great time.

Fields alot of fun. Hyperball is huge, wished more people would have jumped on it, but we came at a slow day. X-ball was loads of fun and saw the most action. Safety. everyone seemed to be knowlegable and did the right thing.
Players, Real friendly, family atmosphere, even had some moms playing with their kids.
hours of operation, great, 9-5 sat. 12-5 sun. every week can't beat that
rules, could be better at enforcing chronoing, watching people time in, but i haven't been to a field that does so no big.
services, pretty good
proshop, not on site.

Pevs(Leesburg, Va) 8 out of 10. Best fields are Compound and Dodge City.
Skyline Paintball (Strasburg, Va) 8.5 out of 10. Great Town scenario.
OA Paintball (Bowie, MD) 3 of 10.
Directions
to the Field:
I was visiting family in NC and was able to locate store and field with directions from mapquest. However, a sign closer to the road would have been helpful to access the field. We missed the entrance and had to u-turn.
Review: Staff - Friendly at the field and the store.

Refs - Actively monitored the X-Ball and Hyper ball fields. However, they were a little more relaxed in the woods.

Field - On the day we played 3 fields were open -Hyper ball / X-Ball / Woods

Hyper ball and X-Ball courses offered a great layout and design.

Woods field was fun, large and leveled. However, it offered little creativity and design.

Fee - $5 all day with own equipment. $15 for rental equipment users.

Paint - We pre-purchased paint at the store. Paint was very fresh no breaks in 4000 shots.

Safety – Refs were good about enforcing the mask, barrel sleeve and bunkering rules. The chrono station was pretty much on the honor systems. I am pleased to report the follow players were very honest. My group never got hit by a ‘hot’ marker.

Conclusion: This is a great field that offered a wonderful paintball experience. I would recommend this field and will visit again when I am back in NC.

It's way out in the middle of nowhere. A little confusing to get to.
Review: I've played there a couple of times and I've had a really good time. Safety is their #1 concern. The refs will yell at you either for not having a mask on at the chrono or on the fields. Also not having a barrel condom on a gun barrel will get you yelled at. They have 4 fields: air ball, X ball, hyperball, and woodsball. I personally like the X ball and hyperball the best, but the airball was OK and the woodsball pretty good.

Paint prices are a little expensive at $60 a case. The refs are almost all in their late teens or early twenties and are paid in paint, they usually aren't very motivated to do their jobs. For food, they have some chips and soda at I think $1. They will also give you a free hot dog for lunch, but only 1.

I like this field, even if it doesn't have the best services or food. It's a good place to go for some rec ball and have fun. Never been to the proshop, don't know what it's like as it's not at the field. Overall though I would give this an 8 out of 10.

Review: We had a company outing on this field and had a really good time. The location north of Raleigh is not that far but from Durham you are better off taking 98 east. We had 11 players but had to reserve 15 spots and pay upfront. This isnt bad at 10$ a head for rental gear and one tank of air, and they give you vouchers for the spots you dont use. Check their website for complete pricing. It's very fair for equipment but paint can be expensive at the field. Pre buy your paint at thier store and they'll lug it out to the field for you or bring your own paint.

Safety is their number 1 concern and they were really good about checking for masks and barrel sleeves everytime coming on and leaving the field. I felt very safe.

The ref's are not exactly 'employees' but regulars that have been deputized as ref's, most are in the late teens and early twentys and I think they just get paid in paint. Some are better than others, they could stand to have a few more regular paid employees behind the counter, it was overwhelming for the one kid that day with atleast 150 people at the field total.

There is no shop or on-site tech, they have that at their store in Raleigh on Capital blvd. Field hours are 9-5 sat. and 12-5 sun. and 11 or 12 till 7 or 8 for their shop. Thats about industry standard. There is one porta john but it was in good shap. At noon they cook a free hot dog for everyone, nice but nothing special. Anzio's pizza delivers to the field and is great pizza.

The games are very structred and the ref's keep good control through out the day. If you payed an extra $50 you get a private ref that runs with you all day, (ask for Sabrina) and your choice of fields to play on. They have a really nice X-ball, a super air, a large hyperball field made of large diameter heavy duty piping, and a GIGANTIC woods ball that has some nice low lying structure, nothing fort size but they keep it clean and cleard of debris.

If you didnt pay for the private group, then you're in Open Group which is everyone else at the field. Open Group has to wait for private groups to pick a field and Open get's whats left. The day we were their was 70 degrees and sunny, a lot of people showed up. Four private groups and then open group at one point had over a 100 people. I tell you X-ball with 50 on 50 is a CRAZY thing to watch.

All in all a good field and a good time. Lots of people know about this place and play there regularly

Review: The Field is under New Management because Dave passed into the game in the sky, so a lot of things are changing. The new manager is trying to make the field more people friendly, also other items are going to be sold including batteries, so if your hopper dies in the middle of the day you can quickly replace them. The free hot dogs are still going to be there!!!

Review: As a paintball field. Gotcha does it's job. It keeps people safe, lets them play paintball, and makes money. They do a great job enforcing safety. They get games going.. Fields are pretty good, better than average I would say, apart from the woods field, which isn't kept up at all, but merely an area of land which has been marked off (not that it was always that way, back in the day, there were wonderfull obstacles, and multiple bases).

Staff, does a pretty good job, refs are paid in paint, so there's less motivation to do their job to the best of their ability. I've found that if one is on a payroll or on the clock, one will work harder to earn their pay. Refs do a good job on the whole.

In all honesty, Gotcha is like 30 min from me, but I drive to Rocky Mount every weekend which is an hour and a half from me. If you just wanna play paintball and have a decent time check out gotcha... if ya want the best, head to rocky mount or greensboro
