I played in many fields in past 5 years or so and I have to say this is the best field I ever been to. It surpasses any other fields I been to so far as in any aspect.
Safety- this field was the most strict field I ever been to in terms of safety (good thing). There were refts between the staging area and game area making sure people had their safety gears on properly. The safety of this field is top notch.
Refs- wow, a field with refs that check people for hits. they did their jobs right and with good attitude. they werent one of those I know everything refs (which are most annoying). They helped me even though some of them couldn't answer my question by asking other refs themselves. they were definitely good quality refs that you can count on.
The field- The fields were nicely set with many different aspects. They had a speedball as well as woody areas. Not to forget the hybrid speedballwoodsball course. Their large(really big) woodsball field had many structures and bunkers that were well made and safe. also their chrono range was really nice set with plenty of space.
The facility overall- paintball command is very well built as in terms of facilty. They actually have running fauscet water!!!! (holy crap a running water and theres 2 of them). If you dont have any tools to fix ur gun, the guys in proshop will gladly lend their tools. there are plenty of tables and area to prepare your stuff as well. there arent many mudholes(yey lousiana) and parking space are plenty
Some other points are they have good prices on their stuff and have good equiptment (4500psi fills for once in my life). I recently bought a used pm6 from their shop and Im very satisfied with it in terms of price and service.
overall I advise the field to anyone i know who wants to have fun playing paintball |

Safety- 9/10- Overall they were very safe. They constantly had Chrono checks and made sure that everyone had the field paint that was required.
Fields- 9/10- I like how they have the Cross-Field separate from everything else but still close to everything. They could have had a more variety of different fields during the games. But overall fields were good.
Times- 8/10- My team and I wished they were open during week days and weekends but its not gonna happen. But im k with the times 8:30 to 4:00 or something like that.
Prices- 10/10- They are fairly good with prices and I think for only being open 8 days out of a month, I think they have to make paint a little higher price than usual. They are fair about it!!!
Rules- 10/10- regular rules, same as usual, but they mix it up sometimes to some players advantages which isn't really fair for all of the noobs.
Services- 9/10- Sometimes the shop and Air station are crowded and people wait for a long time and sometimes miss the start of the next game because they have 3 guys back there and two of them are working on guns and the one that is there is filling co2 and it takes a really long time. But I can be understanding of that.
ProShop- 10/10- Very nice prices. They are always looking to help you get what you need and be happy with it. Sometimes you will get a deal if you get like a package with the gun, mask, exc.
Staff- 10/10- They are very nice. Mr.Charlie is awesome! Sometimes they will even come out there and play with you if its your first time and you really dont know what to do or even what paintball is.
Refs- 7/10- They are always being mean to the little kids who just want to have fun playing paintball, they will ask what game are we playing? And the refs would answer saying,''paintball!'' Everyones saying just shut up! They have fun in the end but still, they could be a little nicer.
Players- 10/10- Everyone I have played with has been overall fair, whether it has been at a tournament or at a regular day. Everyones been fair.
Facilities-10/10- Nice, There clean and air conditioned on a hot day in the summer.
Food-10/10- I mean its just food! But It's good.
OVERALL- 9/10- ITS A GREAT PLACE TO PLAY PAINTBALL. |

LAXtreme - cheaper, but not as large or as fun.
Bayou Dragon - same.
Paintball Planet - indoor, only one field (speedball), really not even worth talking about. |

Safety - 10/10. Everyone is very alert for barrel plugs and mask use; if someone violates a safety rule he/she is immediately corrected. Every new player is given a safety lecture before they are allowed on the field. There are usually 2 mandatory chronos each day, and more if there are any issues.
Fields - 9/10. The fields are well-maintained, varied, and fun. My only beef is that they tend to use the small fields even when there are 60+ players, which makes things harder for everyone. But that's a rare occurrence.
Hours of operation - same as pretty much everyone else.
Prices - 8/10. A bit more expensive than most fields in the area, although they do have good prices on occasion (premium paint for standard prices when they have surplus from tournaments).
Rules - 10/10. Similar to the safety section - the rules are heavily enforced, and reasonable. The surrender rule is 15 feet, I think.
Services - I haven't had to get any repairs, so I can't comment.
Pro shop - 9/10. It's a bit small, but their prices are very reasonable.
Staff & refs - 7/10. The pro shop and fill station staff are great, but the refs do leave a lot to be desired. The refs don't always pay attention to what happens during a game, and questions aren't always answered with the best attitude. In addition, there is one particularly whiny, overly talkative player that knows all the staff and has tried several times to get the games tilted in his advantage, and the refs tend to let him have his way instead of telling him to shut up and play fair.
Players - 9/10. Usually a good mix of pros and newbies. For the most part, they're out to have fun and don't cause any trouble. Other than the aforementioned crybaby, I have yet to see any real problems caused by a player.
OVERALL - 9/10. I've played at the field several times over the past 3 years, and I keep coming back because the fields are great, the crowds are large, and the games are fun. I docked them a point because of the aforementioned problems. |

Other Fields in the Area: |
L.A. Xtreme Paintball- Mediocre, nothing special 5/10... 7/10 safety
Paintball Planet- Only speedball, only re-balls, only 1 pod allowed 4/10... 9/10 safety |

First, lets talk safety. The staging area is totally netted, the refs are very watchful, and so are the players. There will be a few people not paying attention, either going into the staging area with no barrel cover or a dude who takes off his mask in the shooting range, but the refs correct them immediately. Chrono is mandatory.
Safety: 10/10
Next, the staff. The refs are cool, and pay attention in the staging area, but are a little lacking when watching a game. I will sometimes see three or so standing in one spot. The owners are very nice and polite. The owner is a certified airsmith and can practically raise any marker from the dead, and for cheap.
Staff: 9/10
Now the prices. It's a little higher than I'd like (to be true I'd like it free; I can dream, right?), although the rest makes up for the price.
Price: 7/10
Let talk about the fields. The woodsball field kicks butt. There are two story bunkers everywhere surrounded by one story bunkers. It is absolutely HUGE. The trails for the most part are well mantained. The map is themed to Monty Python and the Holy Grail. The cross-field is good (for a crossfield), with a hill on one side and a stream running through the center. The speedball fields are welll mantained and reffed.
Fields: 10/10
Summing it up:
Pros:
Cool staff
Best fields I've ever played at
top-notch safety
certified airsmith
HPA
Cons:
Price
Refs could watch the game a little better
Conclusion:
This is the best field I've ever been to so far. I recommend it to new players and experienced pros alike. Woodsball or speedball, this is the field for you!

Bayou Dragon: PBC is a much larger, nicer and more well equipped field. |
 |
| Review: |
This was my first time to PBC, and I have to say, I was pleased. It was a rainy Sunday morning, but we waited it out and finally, the sky cleared for some good PB time. The fields are well constructed, with terrain being one of the best aspects going for them. The scenario fields are all surrounded and wedged in between large wooded areas, so ambushes and stalking are great. If you enjoy MILSIM type surroundings / environments, this is the place for you...a ghillie suit would rock in some of these fields...but I digress. Here are my personal (i.e OPINIONS) ratings with some comments:
MANAGEMENT/STAFF: Most excellent! Mr. C and the crew do an awesome job running and managing their staff from the front counter to the air station. The staff is courteous and easy to get along with...and most of all very helpful. The air station / worksop helped me get out of a bind with my equipment as soon as I requested assistance...GREAT JOB! RATING 10/10
REFS: Not the most proactive I've seen. They look bored most of the games and aren't too quick to respond to a PAINTCHECK!!! call. However, they are respectful to the players and don't talk down to us...they are just regular guys doing their job. But, I think I may know the reason for this...more on this later*** RATING 7/10
FIELDS: Very groovy. The fields have a medieval flair to them, with plywood castles and "castlerock" bunkers being the norm. Most of the fields take advantage of the Northshore terrain, complete with stream crossings and pits dug into the ground. The only negative thing I could possible say is that in most (if not all) cases, field boundaries are non-existent. Now, I am sure at one time there were yellow caution tapes routed around the edges (remnants of this tape is seen here and there). This specific item resulted in my elimination during the first game I played on "Crossfield". One would assume that in this large, open elimination field, the dense wooded areas (read: almost impenetrable) are the lateral boundaries. Apparently I was wrong. My opponent bushwacked his way forward through the briars to nail me...my loss, his gain. So... ASSUME NOTHING when it comes to field boudaries...you may not be as safe as you feel way out there on the side. RATING 9/10
GAME TYPES: We played: 1. Elimination, 2. Capture the flag, 3. Defend the Castle (against RPG, then against opponent touching castle, then against bomb thrown at castle). Oustanding mix of game types. RATING 9/10
***This brings me to the last point of the review, and what I (AGAIN, THIS IS ONLY MY OPINION) consider to be a flaw in the gameplay at PBC. It is the regeneration policy during all the game types we played except for elimination. During a game with a regeneration policy, if you are hit you can go to a predetermined spot on your side and wipe off your hits, at which point you can come right back into the game. Flaws with this include:
1. You can do dead man walking recon. As you walk to your regen spot, you take mental note of positions and enemy strengths as you stroll by. "Oh look, there's a bush sniper"..."oh man, I THOUGHT there was only 1 guy in that bunker but there's three", oh look, those guys are gonna push up soon, let me hurry and regen so I can get right in front of them". Regen takes away from overall strategy, BIG TIME.
2. With regen, nobody cares too much about the thrill of the hunt, because there is no consequences for failure. Hmmmm, I should have been more quiet that time...oh well, I'll be back in a sec.
3. Everybody loses sight of the objective because as the game goes on, there is so much regen flanking and team intermixing you are too busy getting your bearings and avoiding being shot by your own teammates to worry about a flag or a castle. In all the games we played today (7) only two finished with a victory (and one of those games was an elimination game). All the others were draws due to time running out (20 minutes).
4. Now I know why the refs are not too concerned about checking for paint...you get to wipe it off down the road anyway. In '"normal" gameplay a "wipe" is VERBOTEN! (forbidden) because your cheating is directly affecting the outcome of the game. More shooting markers = advantage. So when your out, your out for the duration, and that matters a whole lot in the strategy of the "one shot, your out for good" gametype. So a ref is not under alot of pressure from the players in a regen game to check for paint because the players know that the opponent will be right back in their sights in about 60 secs. So what I experienced on the field today was: I'm not going to shoot you one time to get you out...I'm going to shoot you 6 times so we both know very well you're out...no questions. I believe that if this gametype was discarded, it would result in much fewer stalemates and much more exciting games.
Now I understand why this gametype is allowed to go on and that's business. People (i.e NEWBIES) want to come out and shoot some paintballs! So this regen policy supports that. Nobody new wants to come out and get wasted by a Semi-pro in 2 minutes and have to stand around and wait 15 minutes for a new game...that makes for a bad PB experience that results in low numbers of repeat customers. Plus, shooting constantly for 20 minutes waste alot of paint...which of course you must replace before the next round. But there has to be another way.
REGENERATION POLICY RATING: 2/10
SAFETY RATING:
GOGGLE RULE: BIIIIIGGGG 10/10 (they don't mess around with this one)
CHRONO: Not to good here. They have a chrono set up but they run on the honesty system. You are responsible for your own speed...at no time was I or anyone around me requested to have their markers spot checked...not too good in a society which believes MORE IS BETTER. But then again, I have no reason to believe anyone was over 290, it's just the pricipal of the matter. 1/10
SURRENDER RULE: Explained thoroughly. 10/10
PAINT: Field paint only...no worry of iced PB's hitting you. And they check this stuff too. There was a guy with some foreign paint in his equipment bag and they made sure he knew he was NOT to use that on the field under ANY CIRCUMSTANCES. Good job! 10/10
PRICES: 7/10
FOOD: MMMMMMMM, corn dogs... 10/10
HOURS OF OPERATION: Closer to dark for closing would be cool, but what do I know. 9/10
PLAYERS: Good mix of new/experienced/seasoned players. Some spoiled sports, but that will be anywhere you go. I could say there are alot of wipers...but as I explained earlier, with the regen gametype, it didn't really matter now did it? I was by myself today, but I had no trouble blending and talking with other players...most where friendly and just wanted to get their PB on. RATING: 8/10
OVERALL: Very good time today at PBC. I will recommend this field when asked.
OVERALL RATING: 8/10
THANKS FOR THE GOOD TIME!!!

I think the field is really great. Everytime you go you have alot of people to play with. Safety is a big issue. They have a area where barrel covers are required and where masks are required. They are really strict about safety. The hours of operation are great 8:30 am to 4:30 pm. The prices are the only bad thing. I went and payed $84 for a case of paint, field admission, and all day fill. It wouldve been more expensive if the lady didnt give us a group rate. There isnt really too many rules. They just inforce the barrel cover and mask rules. The pro shop is ok. They dont have too many guns. The refs are really nice. I didnt eat there but they have a lot of different food. Although the lady gave us free hot dogs cause we were the last ones there. Overall it is really nice. |

Refs: might as well sit down with a blindfold
speedball field: decent, but could use some improevments like more bunkers.
Woodsball field: very nice HUGE
prices: OUTRAGEOUS!!! Paint is $70 for standard and $80 for premium. ( that is rediculous)
( not that this is the fields fault), but there are a whole lot of wipers that play at paintball command. There is not that much of an effort made to stop them.
pro shop: pretty small, but there are quite a few markers for sale, just not a whole lot of upgrades available for purchase.
Chrono speed: Now I am not complaining about the speed, but if i was ten years old I very, very seriously doubt that i would be okay with being hit with a paintball flying at 290 fps( feet per second). People always say that their paint shoots straight, well frankly that is because the chrongraphing speed is 290 fps ( feet per second ).The one single thing that I cannot stress enough is the prices!!! $70 FOR A CASE OF PAINT IS OUT OF CONTROL!!!!!

Paintball command is a great place for players of all different ages and paintball-capabillity. With only a few weeks experiance when i was about 12, i went for my first time and was treated very well. To me, the referees are so cool to talk to and are willing to help with any problem you may have. The fields are great, woods ball and speed ball fields always in good condition. The shop has a variety of different items and many guns for sale. Paint is a little pricy but its worth the cost. I recommend this field to anyone who is willing to have a good time and enjoy the game. |
