I've only been here twice in the past year. My first experience here was average. I recently took a group of friends here, some of which this was there first experience paint balling.
An hour before we left I got a phone call from Tag confirming my reservation as well as group size. When we arrived the guy there awas completely disorganized and told us there air and nitrogen tanks were pretty much empty (something he should have mentioned on the phone), So since i was using air I would have to use a rental (Free of charge).
The rentals were Tippman custom98's and carbine pros, which upon inspection look pretty beaten up but worked well.
Everyone brought there own paint since I warned them before hand that paint was really expensive there by doing this added a 10 or 15 dollars fee on top of your costs. But that being said not one of us broke a ball all day.
One thing I really have got to ding them on is this is a CASH ONLY establishment which he did mention over the phone when I made a reservtion but I still would rather use plastic.
Moving on to the fields I would have to say they need some work but all in all they were a lot of fun and have tons of potential for different types of games. we mostly played in the ghost town and castle. Almost every field could a company a 20 person group comfortably. But they are way to far from the refill station at the shack. we used a car to drive us to and from the fields to the shack .
Even with having to us a rental I still had a ton of fun and thats the main reason I go so I give TAG a 5 out of 10 | Last edited on Saturday, May 24th, 2008 at 3:10 pm PST |

I have a few complaints about TAG.
The paintballs that they sell here SUCK! Please bring your own paintballs. We bought a package of 2000 balls and brought every type of gun from IC Lasoya Promaster to a BT 4 Assault and only one of the guns did not have a ball explode it in. My gun- which was ONLY using Diablo balls. My group probably wasted an hour cleaning out their barrels.
When I phoned and asked about the fees they failed to mention ere would be a $20 fee for bringing your own paintballs. Luckily one of our guys had a big wad of cash in his wallet or we would have driven an extra 30 minutes to Toefield to get some more money. ALSO they only take CASH here. So no MC, Visa, or debit for all you plastic fans.
In the castle field, I was one of the players behind the wall and I almost fell through the rotting wood of the sniping platform. The attendants need to maintain their course once in a while for saftey's sake.
So.. was it worth traveling 50 min from edmonton to play here? Sort of.. well for the 27 fields anyway. Just make sure to bring your own paintballs and have lots of cash as well.

This was my first time going there and was told my many people that this field was very good. When i arrived it wasn't the greatest but from what i heard it was like a few years ago its decent. First of all the office was very dirty with the employees drinking beer, no clean coveralls for renters. The Outhouse was absolutely disgusting (according to my girlfriend). It didn't really seem as if the ref cared about safety due to he took a beer to drink while he was supposed to be reffing. When he has to run back to the pro shop the players started playing by themselves and not following many safety rules. The fields/safe zone was full of garbage that could be picked up to make the place a little bit cleaner and the grass could be trimmed where there are risks of tripping over things hidden by grass. the prices for owners was $30.00 ( 10 for field 20 for your own paint) and my girlfriend payed 55 for rentals and 500 paint which i thought was decent. A few of the markers people rented broke after the 4th or 5th game but easily exchanged. The ref had a truck he was driving but did not offer us rides to the field we were ging to play which was a 10 min walk and it was extremly hot out. I will go back due to it is closer than edmonton and i do believe they are trying to fix it up, so we'll see what time brings.

This field isn't all what is advertised. The staff/refs will tell you that this is "The Largest PBall Field In Canada" .... Ummm no...Maybe In 5-10 years when they have developed all of the 200 whatever it is acres they own.
In our group we had renters and a few people who brought there own gear. The Renters got Tippman 98 Customs which are indestructible no complaints there, Rental Clothing was decent and clean. For people who brought there own gear price was $10 plus paint which was decent until one of my buddies wanted to buy a case. TAG staff was trying to charge him $190.00 for a Case of WHITE BOX ...RIDICULOUS!
Now, the actual playing fields here aren't a usual 5 minute walk....They take you on a truck, or in our case we had a couple of trucks and we drove through the Drakkar Rally Course before we got to the Player's Rest/BBQ area. Man...I tell you...Good luck if you run out of AIR, CO2, BALLS, or if your GUN messes up...It's at least a 10 minute walk...And who needs that after you've played a few of rounds of paintball?
We played a total of 5 Fields including the Indoor one. My opinion these fields are pretty decent, especially the Castle, a nice design. I just don't get the field with all those appliances. Unfortunately few people would wander off the course because they don't have any boundaries!
Team players were hard to distinguish because the red/pink colored ribbons they gave 1 team wasn't visible especially 40 -100 yards away...I personally got picked off by teamates alot of times. One idiot even hit me as I was running into a building he was in...I covered him to get into that building too : (
The Refs weren't that great either, a couple of Refs would sometimes fire random shots on the field for no reason. We'd shoot back and they'd try to flex their teenage authority. Refs would also keep games going on forever up to 45 minutes, we'd eventually jus quit the game ourselves.
In conclusion, TAG Paintball is a below average course, If you're from Edmonton I don't think it's worth the 45 min. - 1 Hr. drive. For anyone who live close to TAG Paintball, I guess beggars can't be choosers. I do hope TAG does develop all their land towards paintball it would make a huge selection on courses.

I haven't gone there since 2004 due to college and work, so this is more of a review of how it was when I used to go. The markers were of quite good quality and they supply all of the gear, which is nice (including neck protectors). I didn't care for their paint much and sometimes it seemed that some were old and didn't fire very well. The cost of the paint also isn't the greatest. Even if you bring your own gear to the field, you'll still be paying a bit more than other fields, but I think that the fields there were worth it. Back when I used to go there they didn't have HPA, but I hear that they do now.
I've always loved their fields (which they have a lot of) and defending the castle is always my favorite. They have a nice sized town with various buildings, vehicles, and a trailer. Some people complain that there's too many cracks and holes in the buildings, but they're not big enough to shoot out of, they're mostly good just to scan your surroundings. One of my favorite fields is the trenches, which I personally find to be more entertaining when it's overgrown with the long grass rather than being cut bare. One memorable game one member from my team managed to sneak around the entire field along a tiny stream that ran the length of one side. Far on their side, I see a head creeping forward and start firing at it. It was after I hit them in the goggles that they stood up and I realized that it was my own player.
I have mixed feelings about their refs. Three times we went and they had amazing refs who made the games fun and actually watched the action for cheaters. But, two times we had two different younger kids around 16 or 17 that made the games horrible. One of the boys didn't even watch the game and just kept talking with some girl that was with him. Even after I got pissed off at him he didn't get any better. The team that we played against cheated constantly: they'd always say that they didn't get hit, then when we argued, they'd shoot us a bunch of times. They shot my young cousin who was playing the first time in the side of the head from about 2 feet away through a window in the castle. After leaving the field, they'd end up coming back on two minutes later, etc. And the ref never did a thing, so a bunch of us ended up storming off early.
I hear that they have even more fields now and I can't wait to try the woodsball field in a few weeks when I'll finally be going back again. I'll make a new review then.
In conclusion, TAG paintball is one of my favorite fields to go to as long as you have a serious referee watching the game. I give it a 9 out of 10, only removing points for the few refs that wreck the experience some days.

I coach a team of 13 year kids and I took them to this field because I heard cool things about the castle and other courses. The field however was terrible and I will never go back.
First of all we show up and I go to Chrono my gun, and the thing is broken, not only that, but the guy who was running the show didn't even ask if we had Chronoed or anything, he didn't even noticed we had our own gear, except when it was time to charge us for air. Nitrogen when very expensive.
The entrance area looked like it had once been protected from all the paintballs from the course that sat beside it, but unfortunately all the mesh had fallen down, leaving the safe zone, somewhat unsafe.
The paint was old and hard and hardly ever broke.
The number of things that were wrong with this course are to hard to count, and considering the drive when Young Guns and Paintball Action are so close, there is no point in going here. |

PAG Indoor: Better for speedball, as they have killer airball, and a much better staging area, with bathrooms, drinking water, an air compressor, pro shop... TAG, however, has AWESOME fields, and is a great place to hang out, having barbeques, firepits, etc. |

Having played at TAG nearly 100 times, I can say that I know the place better than anyone else (aside from those who own it.)
TAG is on the comeback from some internal issues that very nearly destroyed it and the family that owns it about a year ago. Presently, the place is recovering, having nearly hit rock bottom. Thanks to people that continued to play there, despite it's shortcomings, TAG may be able to pull through. It is in the process of slowly being overhauled, and if it can survive the winter, with the lack of people who will drive out to Ryley, this field will pull through, and really get back into business.
First off... Tag has 27 fields, but some need lots of maintenance, and therefore TAG is currently limited to the following fields (for single field play, the run down ones are still good for scenario games)...
*****The Castle***** 5 entrances, 8 secret doors, 2 storey towers, a bush filled courtyard, and a giant moat. Surrounding it: The pallet field, where the attackers start, and a circle of bush, with a road between it and the castle on one side. Also, there are many bunkers and obstacles on the way up to the castle.
*****The Town***** A block of old sheds, bunkers, cars, trucks, a couple vans, and a large trailer. It has bush surrounding it on 2 sides, and a road going through it, with a bit of foliage on the third side. Urban Warfare!!
****Pallet Field**** Stacks of pallets arranged in a rectangular field. 'nuf said.
***The Bale Fort*** A 4 sided wall of bales and spools with a small speedball course in the middle, made of bales, plastic drums, spools, and such. Comfortably plays 10 people.
***Bush Field 1*** A long skinny rectangle with tree bunkers, hilly ground, a couple trenches, and spool bunkers sunk into the ground.
****Bush Field 2**** Much wider than number one, with thickers brush, and less spool cover. Joins the Trenches and the Castle Bush.
*****Bush Field 3***** A huge section of forest with large piles of trees for cover, and thick bush in many areas. You can almost get lost in here.
****The Mounds**** A collection of mounds covered in grass and weeds, most of which are large enough to stand behind. There's a structure in the very middle with 4 walls... soon to be finished into a large tower.
******The Spool Speedball****** A HUGE collection of gigantic spools, set up in a seemingly random order. The place isn't quite a maze, but many times you'll meet your opponenet face to face. IMO, the BEST field in TAG.
****The Hobbit Town**** Not a town, no hobbits, but the name stuck. This place is a fan of dirt mounds (think oriental paper fan) With spools scattered here and there, bunkers on top of these mounds, and really hilly terrain behind the mounds. Outside the town, there are many spools arranged for attackers to work their way up through. The dirt mounds act as a defensive "wall" for the hilly town, with high and low bunkers. After lots of rain, the town gets surrounded by a few inches of water in a moat style, and pallets serve as bridges in that case.
***The Appliance Field*** A speedball course made out of old fridges, stoves, water heaters... yeah...
****The Trenches**** Just that... a bunch of trenches surrounded by bush. They're deep, long, and winding with many intersections, although you can climb on top of them and jump from mound to mound. They do get kind of wet though.
So, yeah... 11 Great fields to play on right now.
$@$@Latest Update@$@$
With the weather being what it is, only the indoor is open right now. It's a 10000 sq ft barn, with spools and pallets. The ground is covered in wood chips, with dirt underneath. The place may be heated now, but probably not. Even if it is, the walls have a few huge holes in them, so the place is perpetually freezing. I doubt the rentals will work, and most paintballs will not make it out of the barrel in one piece. The indoor ground has some wet/frozen spots that are kind of hazardous, as well as broken tent pegs stuck in the ground here and there... I've personally hit one while sliding, and injured my knee.
Considering the condition of TAG right now, I will be truly amazed if they survive the winter. Hopefully, the next people to own it have the initiative to fix it up, and bring it back to it's former status. I saw old pictures of TAG before it's downfall, and it truly was an amazing place.
It's sad, really. A lot of the local kids had worked so hard at that place a few years ago, and made it an exceptional rec ball place.| Last edited on Sunday, November 5th, 2006 at 11:47 am PST |

This place has alright fields, but the people who work there suck ass, they dont care how they talk around anyone (doesnt matter to me) and they dont know much....they didnt even know how to cocker my bro's WS-66 and there was something wrong with it (my bro wasnt there but he lent his WS-66 to my older brother, and stuff) and they said they could try to open it up, and they couldnt find a tool to unscrew the back where the stock is, and so they tried to use a Quarter.....and they were scratching it up, and stripping the screw and so we jsut said we wouldnt use it....
