I have played woodsball for the majority of my life, but the only other field I have ever played at was Attack Shack out of New Orleans (now named something else). In the comparison between the two I find that Shell Shocked is more organized with a great staff that helps you with anything you need. |

Directions to the Field: |
The field has recently moved to a new location located behind the Houma armorie (Black Sheep) which is across from ST. Gregory church (not sure of exact adress) |

The new field is most deffinately a step above the last field. The prices are the same for the most part except for the field fee (increased for improvements to the field- from 5 to 8).There is a covered area under the office to put your gear and they are currently working on extending an awning to cover more area. The safety rules are inforced strictly which is a major plus. As for the fields them selves they are put together very well and organized perfectly. The hyper ball field is in the very front (most active)(a bunch of plastic culverts set up for bunkers), the Speed ball field is in the middle (big blow up bunkers), and the urban field is in the back (wooden bunkers, sniper tower, bus, car, etc). The only problem is the walking distance to the urban field and that they still have some work to do on it. The refs are for the most part both fair and helpful. Their knowledge comes from their experience because the refs are the members of Backdraft (the field team). They alow you to bring your own food but have drinks to sell up stairs (I usually only buy gator aid $1.5). Shell Shocked is a great field and I plan on returning soon and often. At this time the field is under slight construction but once it is finished it will be hard to beat the quality of the field and people working there. They are always looking to the futue but also focusing on the present. |

Someone I know was told she couldn't have a party on Saturday since her child wasn't 10 until the next day. She inconveniently had it the next day when temperatures dropped and the kids played in the freezing cold. She paid $15 for each child without a gun but wasn't told she'd pay extra for gloves that were given. A child with a gun was given a required sleeve she paid for, along with other assorted charges she didn't know about. A box of paintballs she could only get from them cost $60. Although she was assured burgers and drinks would be provided, she had to pay for drinks and was told the burgers and paper plates the refs had when she arrived were gone. Someone cut the cake she bought elsewhere with a pocketknife and the kids ate with their fingers. Finally, they charged her for a sleeve the wind blew out of a boy's pocket that no one could find. She brought them another one of their sleeves someone found laying around but they said it wasn't the right one. A two hour party cost her about $300.00. Shell Shocked is fun for some but not a good place for a party unless you don't mind providing everything while still paying an inflated price. They have nice fields and refs. That's the only positive thing I can say. They take advantage of the fact that they're the only paintball place in the area and charge way too much.| Last edited on Sunday, December 16th, 2007 at 6:35 pm PST |

Safety:
Strict. no blind fireing, but its still fun
The prices are decent, explesially for the quality. although they could do all day air for c02.
Fields:
City: the name explains it. it set up like a city with a car and a bus. there is a big bush in the middle though.
Speed ball: oyur run of the mill airball field.
Hyper ball: think a land of pipes. you got. big black plastic pipes make the bunkers. |

I have only been there once. All due respect I hate to be negative but my experience there was not the best one. The owner was very nice and helpful all day. BUT the reffing was total CRAP. I am not exactly sure when it was(the date on the review is inaccurate.) But the day I was there we had about 16 players and 2 referees. one DID NOT WEAR ANY FACE PROTECTION while the other wore only the lens with the strap off of a JT Spectra. They were lazy, i was there and played a total of 6 games, 3 of which we had to wait on the refs to start( they were not cooperative with the players about getting games started, in others words we were ready to play and they were sitting on their butts.) Other than that, The fields are good, they keep good paint, rentals seemed very reliable and functional, good atmosphere for beginners, very clean, very good field rates(fees etc.) I would love to go back if a good reffing staff is employed. if it wasn't for the reffing staff a 9 is deserved but when giving a serious review you have to tell it like it is |

I live in Houma and this is the only field that takes less than an hour to get to.Shell Shocked is a great place to go if your a beginner or expert. The owners of the field and pro shop are very kind and know enough about paintball equipment to repair markers themselves. They sell great drinks and snacks at the field. There is a Field Paint Only rule here , although the paint is pretty cheap. 500 for $15 ,100 for $30 ,and 2000 for $55-$60.There are three different fields urban, woods, and hyperball. On occasion they will set up airball mixed in with hyperball. Shell Shocked rents all necessary equipment and apparell. It is only $5 from 10 am -2 pm. Nitro and CO2 fills are also available. It is the best place to relax and play great paintball!| Last edited on Tuesday, December 21st, 2004 at 7:20 pm PST |
