I was visiting family for Christmas so, I decided to see what fields were near by. The reviews here of RUSH were good so I went there.
The pro-shop seemed to have enough new/spare gear for most players needs. Sign-in went fast, but the 'training video' was a real treat! Field fees are higher than what I pay in Tulsa, but paint is cheaper. They had 3-4 grades of paint on the board: field paint was 2000 for $50? - better paint was 2000 for $60 - premium paint was 2000 for $70. They were out of premium so i went with the better paint - which turned out to be RPS Premium item #00653. It worked well in my PM6
Also, I didn't fly with my tank so, I called ahead to see if they rented them and the owner (can't remember his name) said he had one I could borrow (it was a 3k aluminum, but free!).
------------------------------------------------------------ ----------------------------------------
Unfortunately it rained for the first time in months the day I was there (Mist to heavy at times), but we played anyway. There were only 9 people there most of the day. We had a couple newbies, a few rec players, a tourny player in training and a couple in between.
We only played the PSP field. It was laid out well. 4 on 4 games went fast so we played a lot.
The ref did a fine job - made good calls - was a tourny player and offered advice to players to help make them better players
------------------------------------------------------------ ----------------------------------------
Over all it was a good experience, but I give it a 9 because I've played better fields - when I visit family again hopefully it won't rain, but I think I'll go on Sunday when all the tourny guys come out to play.

I don't know of any other fields in the area. I'm pretty sure COLORS is closed. |

They have one main PSP airball field, a hyperball field, and an other rather old, unused airball field with a carwash. I was told that field was blown up the previous day for the tournament that took place (I wish I knew there was one). They have a shaded staging area with a tarp tent and a large tree right next to the tables. A water bottle and paper towels were supplied. On hot days, they have a line with holes in it that puts out a fine mist of water overhead to one side.
When you first play, you are required to sign a waiver and you are given a 'player card'. This card has all of your information such as issue date, first, and last name with a picture of you. Also if it's your first time playing, you have to watch a safety video. It's field paint only, and the field fee is $12.50 as of the date of this review. You can keep paint you might have not used at the field in a box with your name on it behind the counter inside, which is kept cool. Any paint you take out the door is not allowed back in.
Proshop
Personally, I've seen better stocked proshops than this one. However, the shop has everything you could NEED, just not as much of you might WANT. The staff is very capable and informational. Rick, the field owner, is the main airsmith. He's kind, and understanding. He helped me fix the eyes on my PM5, and waived any labor fee. He had the eyes ordered from Dye. It took two weeks to get in, but that was Dye's fault, not his. From what I heard, he ordered everything with 2nd-Day shipping. Inside, they have cold drinks in the a Coke cooler at fair prices. On the back, roofed patio, they have a stocked drink vending machine at 50 cents a can, along with a giant fan, a coffee machine (?), microwave, and even a TV with bleacher seats. The ultimate chill spot.
Field (Main PSP)
VERY well put together. When I played today, the snake was broken up into 3 diagonal lines, which was pretty neat. The grass is nice, and not too thick or thin. It was actually a bit more slick than I thought it was. I ended up over-sliding quite a few times. Pretty funny. The refs are long-time regulars, but don't play when working. I felt they could've been more involved, but they did their job and made the games very fair. If you call for a paint check on someone, they will get over there as quick as possible and check all over.
I'm very pleased with the service, support, and the games I've played at this field. I would recommend anyone in the CSRA to go play here.
PS - No, I don't work here. Sorry if my writing.. skills.. (if that's what you want to call it) make it seem that way. |

I didn't actually play at this field, but I took my grandsons there. I'm a bit old for paintball, and never having been to a paintball field I had no idea what to expect. The staff here was great! Everything was explained to us, getting the kids registered was quick and painless, and renting items that we needed was handled well. My only complaint is about not being able to bring back the ammo we had to buy the next time we returned. The video for newbies did a great job of explaining what was expected of players. The main field was well set up as far as I could tell. A group of regulars was playing while we were there and they were more than willing to let the boys join in with them. The ref was always present on the field, and I guess there were never any challenges calling for a decision by him, because I never saw or heard any disputes. There was one water fountain outside, but the water must have been coming from a hose because it never got cold (the temperature was in the high 90's this day). There were plenty of drinks in the store to buy and a drink machine in the video viewing area. Restroom facilities were minimal but adequate. I feel that safety is a main concern here and every effort is made to maintain it; as their motto says, "Play Hard, Play Safe." We were there about 2 hours, and would have stayed longer if not for the heat. I would definitely take the boys back at any time as they had a blast--and that's what it's all about. |

This field is great, it was one of the first speedball fields I ever played at. I live in Alaska, so when I'm on vacation to see my relatives in Augusta, I ALWAYS will play at Rush.
Pros:
Great, friendly owners (will help you out on anything)
Clean facility
Enforced rules (as every field should)
Great Pro shop, they will also order anything for you
Awesome fields
Cons:
None that I could find, Rush is an awesome field, take it from a tourny player! |

Rush in my mind is about a 7 or 8 out of 10
pros.
1. Rules are inforced
2. Refs who actually check and pull players
3. Shaded stagging area
4. Great atmosphere (the people out there are just some pretty cool people)
5. Rick is really helpful, and doesn't try and rip you off (on repairs)
cons.
1. paint can get expensive
2. Most guys are friends with the refs so, its sometimes hard to get a fair call
3. the field floods or gets really muddy at times, but its still playable
4. deflating or deflated bunkers (but usually only tombstones and other not so important bunkers, darritos, and other key bunkers filled)
5. Feild fee and kind of expensive paint
Now I can split hairs all day but since there no other field in the area, Im not going to completly slam them, but Im also not going to say its the end all be all paintball field
and yea they'll prob. figure out who I am |

Safety was well enforced. People who came to RUSH for the first time had to watch a safety video. Prices were AWESOME. No field fee, $10 for all day air, seconds paintballs for 20 bucks if you wanted.
Staff was cool. Refs were ok, didnt really see much of them when I was on the field. I dont think they have food or drinks, although I didnt ask.
One speedball field, and one hyperball field that I know of. Grass was well cut, and staging was shaded (under a netted tent).
Ill give them a 10/10. Nothing bad to mention really |

First off, Rush may be the only field in the Augusta, GA area but the lack of other fields is not hurting it. Granted the fields on Ft. Gordon are not the greatest for the speedballer, but then again the land they was given to put the fields on is not that great either. It appears to be decent for what they was given. Though I've only walked the fields on Ft. Gordon.
The main field out by the Augusta Mall is great. I found the staff to be friendly and really helpful. The field layout is not bad, though a new layout wouldn't hurt every few weeks. I can tell that some of the players that been there a while know the field too well. I watched one guy walk from one end of the snake to the other and then to a bunker more to the center of the field. Big deal right? Well, he was in a 2 against 1 and never checked for the guy to be looking for him. He knew the path he was take'n was one big blind spot for the last guy left.
There is enough land between fields to put a regulation UAPL 3-man field there also. They said they have enough bunkers for it, but are holding off on building the new field.
The refs are good for what the field is, a recreation field. Seeing people rip on this place makes no since to me after being there. Before coming to Ft. Gordon, I read the reviews here and I was worried about the quality of the fields and play here. After being here, all I can say is it's one of the better fields I've been to... anywhere. All I can think of is that other people expect the staff to be of a major tournament quality. This is not gonna happen. This is a place to play at between tournaments or just for an outing with friends and family. I've never seen a field that had more than 2 refs on the field at a time when it wasn't a tournament.
A quick overview, Rush Paintball is great. The staff is friendly and go out of their way to help you out when you're have'n problems with your gear. Safety is #1 also. The quality of the fields rates up there with other places I've played at. If you are interested in going to other fields and this is one on your list, don't hesitate to play here. I had a blast and enjoyed the day. The only reason I give it a 9 is because only the best place I've played at should get a 10. Although it's not the greatest place I've been, it's still up there. |

I may have one year of experience, but its all been at rush
1- This is the ONLY field close to anyone in augausta, besides rush at the fort.
2- This is a great field with great refs
3- THE REFS ARE NOT slackers, pushovers, lazy, ect.
4- Rick (the field technition) is a great guy.
5- Yes, the bunkers do get deflated, but that doesent mean its not playable???!!!
6- The netting is fine, all fields have netting and are secure.
7- The prices are great!, i went to texas for the summer, and while there went to O.F.F. Limits Paintball, in Louisiana. They charged $70 for 1 case of premium!!
8- The shop is great, its no wearhouse, but they'll have what you need.
O, theby the way, if it is a bad field, then why are some CFOA events held there?
Please be nice, the field is great, the peoople are great, its the best feild ive ever been to (i know Iv'e only been to 2, but this is by far the best, i dont care what you say).

| Review: |
I have a really hard time writing this review because it's very hard for me to give a bad review to a field that tries pretty hard to be a good experience. To be fair it was incredibly hot the day that I played and the humidity was skyrocketing and my cocker was experiencing major mechanical malfunctions, all of which probably unfairly affect my opinion of the establishment.
That being said, the field has some major problems it needs to overcome. First and foremost is the field design. While Rush in Augusta offers some well thought out fields, they are all in varying states of disrepair. Rush at the Fort on the other hand offered a pitiful selection of fields. The speedball style field had bunkers thrown haphazardly on the field in places that are neither logical nor useful. The snake is a prime example of this - it offers no substantial cover from fire coming down the tape and offers an angle only on two different bunkers. Simply putting the usual kink in the snake design would make the bunker that much more useful. The "Black Hawk Down" field however, definitly wins the terrible design contest with a mere handful of bunkers sitting in front of a decomisioned helicopter (and it's not even a blackhawk o_0). The bunkers are situated in such a way to provide no real gameplan. The field that has bunkers is incredibly short, at perhaps 20 yards deep and the field is painfully narrow at perhaps 10 yards across. Luckily when I went to play there were very few of us on the field because, I strongly suspect the field would not work at all with more than 2 people on a team. The woods field at the Fort was especially disappointing to the people I came with, though I found it to be the most desirable of the fields simply because mother nature and her random assortment of trees offered a better assortment of bunkers than the staff was able to provide at any given time.
That being said, Rush does offer some things that I quite like. Their proshop staff is quite friendly and they did their respective jobs very effeciently. The refs were about average for recreational play - in other words, they were present to keep the peace and safety but they werent' willing to go above and beyond to make a call or help a player out (I don't find that to be a negative, given that my experience with Rec Refs are all about the same level of apathy). The fields do offer a fairly safe experience, with the staff being fairly quick to stop boneheads from doing anything to terribly stupid, the netting, despite what I have seen written was adequate and in reasonable states of repair.
Overall, I'd say that there is much potential for both locations. Rush in Augusta could stand to keep their fields in better repair, and I would like a bit more selection, but they do a good job with what they have. Rush at the Fort has great potential if even a modicum of effort was put into the design and maintenance. |

| Review: |
I played at rush on Saturday 6/10/06 and was thoroughly disappointed in a number of things. I would like to think this was a one time thing, but I have read a few shaky reviews. I don't like to leave bad feedback, but I think Rick really needs to do something.
1. The field (One Field) is in really bad shape. The airball bunkers are all rolling around in the breeze and leaking profusely. The refs refused to blow them up until one of the players complained to the girls in the office. The exact quote from the elder (maybe 18) referee was "Why blow them up they will just leak out and we have to blow them up again"
2. The hyperball field hadn't been mowed in a while so it was unplayable that day.
3. The refs left a little to be desired. In their defense, for most of the day there were only about 5 of us. A little more enthusiasm would have gone a long way though.
On a good note, the girls in the pro shop we very professional and courteous. When we complained about the field they did make sure to get on the two "refs" to blow it up.
I understand it is an expense to buy a new Airball field, but something has to be done to improve this situation, it will be hard to keep players if there is no good field to play on....... |
