Paintball Depot - Big, safe, great fields
Ruckus Paintball - Cheap, not bad
Top Gun - Enormous, expensive, but great fields
Fireball Mountain (Old Bridge) - Terrible in every way
Fireball Mountain (New Hanover) - More fields, above average
On Target Paintball - Big, inexpensive, wonderful field
NJ Paintball Club - Huge, nice fields, but not much fun
Review:
Decided to give ABC a try, since it was either this or Depot, and ABC is in fact BYOP. First off, very inexpensive. $15 to play, BYOP, so that's good.
The safety was hit-or-miss, mostly miss. The refs were pretty poor, and tended not to leave the upper dead zone for woods games, meaning it was impossible to get paint checks. They weren't as strict as other fields about masks, but were on top of barrel plugs/condoms between games. And NO safety orientation, which is bad, really bad. No net up in the upper dead zone, so masks on until the game is over, which isn't that great. One thing that impressed me was that they check for hydro dates when they fill CO2 and air tanks. That's not something you see at every field, so it's worth mentioning.
As for the actual playing fields, there's only two. The lower course is speedball, quite large for a speedball field. Has many solid bunkers arranged well, but they're covered in old paint, absolutely filthy. The upper field is in the woods. It's a bit of a hike, but there's a semi-dead zone up there. It's quite a large course, a lot of bunkers, which are in excellent condition and solidly built, not like cheap little piles of branches that you might see elsewhere. For people that have played at Depot, the woods course at ABC is comparable to Thunder, which IMO is pretty good. There isn't a lot of natural cover in terms of thick trees or bushes (didn't expect any bushes, being January and all), but the terrain isn't flat, so one can use the uneven land for concealed movement. Thumbs up for the woods field.
So overall, not a bad place to play. It's cheap, the field I played was nice, safety might be considered the weak point. Oh yeah, they let you pick whether you would like to play on speedball or woodsball, providing both are open (they have refs on both), which I thought was cool. 5/10.

Review:
This is as possitive as i can be about abc paintball
abc paintball is where the noobs play all the tourney players ball at atlas and ejam
the guys in the store in paramus dont know too mcuh about what there talking about and they treat there markers poorly and highly reccomend against buying guns from this store even though its in a prime locatioin trust me it will set you off on the wrong foot the refs use vulgar language and dont know how to treat the customers because the owner leo doesnt set aproper tone and is a bad owner, he curses, yells, doesnt work, and doesnt know how to treat the customer, i havent gone back there since the first time i played at ejam a long time ago a few weeks after they first opened, i now am on a ejam sponsored team and you could be sponsored to but not by playing with tippman pete at abc paintball the fields smell, the bathrooms are disgusting, it makes paintbakll llook like a hic sport, altho the new field i heard was ok and pete tries to be nice, but there prices are high, there service is poor and this field just strait out stinks
E-Jam-best field around, great staff and well kept! great competition and fun to play at!
Rukus-very good field, lots of varieties of fields, well kept for outdoor field, cool staff good competition.
Rexplex-closed down for the better, very badly kept towards end of life.

This was the first field i ever played at and thought that it the best in the world. now that i have gotten better and have moved on to better competition ejam and ruckus do the trick. abc has really let the field go(now that you think about it, it was never in good condition). it alwasy smells and the bunkers are in such bad shape. their falling apart and breaking in half. Cathie, the field operator is really cool and the ref are nice but they need to fix the place up. they have like 15 min intervals between games which waistes so much time during the day and the owner is a dick. he yells at u for now reason. hopefully when the new field opens it will be a lot better and put ABC back on the map (in a good way). the store is good they help you fined what you need and are nice. the prices are very high and if you dont buy the gun the it cost $80 to put the part on your gun!
i give the field a 1 out of 10. the field is just in such bad shape and they dont care about the field.

Ok well were do i begin with ABC? ABC i have to say honestly is getting worse over time! The fact that you can bring your own paint is small compared to the smell you need to endure! Refs are nice i must admit and the staff the Gun tech is great guy also!
But field had been getting trashy! ABC needs to renivate! The woods field is ok and speed ball is jus fallen apart though! I have been trying E jam and recomend it over ABC anytime i dont think i will drive to abc unless it does a couple major changes! Try E jam cant go wrong jus 1 field though! (competitive speedball action)

Abc is a great field although it is an hour away from my place its worth it especially now since it has changed to bring your own paint. The ref's are very friendly n they will fix ur gun no problem. they have everything for a full day of paintball. one thing that i really dont like is the fact that they only have 1 woods ball field and 1 speed field. This place is amazing and is soooo worth the 15$
Ruckus - Poorly organized and not on top of safety procedures, Paintball Depot - not very good/expensive, Hustler's Indoor - nice field in the process of relocating.
Review:
I went there again last weekend and ABC is now BRING YOUR OWN PAINT again! I'm glad they decided to go back as I've been playing at Ruckus, but that field leaves a lot to be desired when it comes to safety. ABC has friendly refs who alway enforce the rules and maintain a safe playing environment. Cathy, who runs the field, bends over backwards to help you with whatever you need. $15 admission and "Bring Your Own Paint" make this a no brainer to anyone wanting to play and not break the bank. In my experience, Sunday is the day that more experienced players play, so plan accordingly.
ABC was a nice place to go to when it was byop but now there are better places to go for less.I went to abc a few weeks ago with about a group of 15 and when we got there not one person wanted to stay. we ended up going to a nother field. wish it would go back to byop then it would be worth it.
This field is enjoy able for people who live in the bergen county area. Its conveniently located and not expensive to get in. However The management is terrible, The Refs are for the lack for a better word A-holes, Plus there are only 2 fields!
Management and Prices: Kathy is one of the nicest women you will ever meet and the prices aren't that bad. But they wait way to long to start up the matches. Things are frantic over there.
Refs: After a woods match we were sitting around for 15 minutes for some reason when you of the refs asked to see my gun. I drew it and handed it to him. He takes and points at his little brother and says "run". He then opened up on him close range. 12 shots. It was hilarious when it happened but I wont want to be that kid.
Fields:
Speedball is nice but it is on a hill giving one side the elevation. If it rained in the last day it is also very muddy. But on a nice sunny day its fine.
Woods: The woods is the only part of the field that brings it up to a 5. There are many different scenarios that could play out in a normal team elimination game. The 2 teams start out on different sides. Most fights take place on either the road (or "bridge" which I call it because i'm an idiot) or the top of the field where they have tons of bunkers and foxholes that are perfectly placed.
****IMPORTANT****
This field used to be BYOP. It is no longer. SO now the only thing this field has going for is its woods and admission price.
Paintball is paintball and is enjoyable where ever you are.

This was my first time at this field....Nice field.....there are only 2 fields speedball and woods.....both were of a good sizes. I played the woods the entire day. Woods field had ample cover and bunkers in a natural terrain setting. Def wear knee pads or ull be sorry.....Also DEF BRING WATER! woods field is all in the shade cause of the trees but u will get thursty. However directly behind the woods field is a dairy queen were u can buy drinks. Its ALOT easier to go to DQ then to get down the hill to the soda machines in the front of the place and then come all the way back up.....Also BRING YOUR FIELD PAINT WITH U to safe zone to reload. You DO NOT want to walk to ur car all day.
Place itself for decent to a good walkon day of playin...Fields are BEHIND the large white bulding in the fork in the road. Picinic area need some work some of the tables are trashed....Also some of the neeting around the speedball field going up to the woods is all down.
Staff was really very nice and polite. They would talk to you and share stories during breaks. Helpped you with stradegy for your game. They made sure masks and plugs were in when they were supposed to be. Only issue i really had was the refs lunch break seemed to go on too long and then it took some time to chrono guns. Lunch was like hour and half.
Paint was decently priced.....since they went to FPO now.....Admission only $15 if u have ur own gear. Great local place to play for a weekend game.
