Hogan's Alley Paintball- not nearly as good.
Since going to Matt's Outback I have not gone to other fields. Its like a fantasy world there, where all your paintball fantasies come true.
This field is amazing for many reasons.
Owners: Brooke and Tom. They are awsome. I am apart of my colleges' paintball team CCSU, and they have done more for us then we could have asked for.
Fields: 7 man airball- its nice
5 man X-ball- its real nice. they change the setup quite often, so it is like playing on a new field every couple of months
Tire Field- its cool but Im more for the trournament play
Woods- Its like 19 acres, pretty big.
Prices: very resonable. Especially since Brooke and Tom are helping my team out.
Matt's Outback is the best field that I have played at in CT.
after you pull onto their road just keep going straight until you reach a verry steep, bumpy hill and you are there.
It is the only place that i have ever been because all the other fields are not Worth the price at all. It is the cheapest place to go to and it has the best quality. Great fields they have a very large woods ball field (which is constantly being made better), a 7 man field, 5 man x-ball field, and a tire pit. Tournaments are on Sundays and people that come to play but not in the tournament can play in the fields not occupied for the tournament. For members there are discounts on almost everything guns, barrels, masks, tanks, etc. Almost every gun repair doesn't't cost anything. They have been working on making an air-dome but is no where done it looks like but it is supposed to be twice as big as originally planned.

Matt's Outback Paintball is an awesome field. The staff is great and the people are nice. it is a very down to earth place where you can play on many great fields. They have a 7 man on the lower, a 5 man X-ball, a tire pit (good for less competitive speed-ball players), a woods-ball course and a store. The Co2 for 20oz. is 4 dollars, and compressed air is free. Rentals include free co2 all day, a bag of 500 and the marker setup.
This field is all around great family environment
I have been to half a dozen paintball fields. Always have a good time, but when I came over that dirt road hill and saw the Taj Mahal of Paintball......yowser, I found a second home away from home. I just sat at the picnic tables eating free dogs off the grill and soaked it all in for about half an hour.
I brought my two sons and one of thier friends all between 11 and 12 years old. The first time for them. They had a blast.
Great Woods field and the tire field was a blast. I don't think I am a speed/baloon ball kind of guy, but it was impressive.
You guys have to be one of the best in New England, if not the Best.
The driveway is basically a continuation of the road itself, follow the paved road until it becomes a dirt road, then the dirt road until you get to Matt's, and just keep driving straight into it. Watch the road conditions, very bumpy.
Memberships are available
Field paint only
Barrel condom required
Always open Saturday and Sunday, 10am-4pm. Sometimes open other days.
The field itself is really good. There's a 5-man, a 7-man, a tire course, and 2 wood's course, one of which is relatively new. All the courses are kept in good condition. The wood's course has a good number of bunkers, three 2-floor towers, and trees and shade and whatnot. There's always plenty of people to play with. Overall it's just a very good, diverse field to play at. It's worth the money, you won't get bored. It's a good place for anyone of any skill level, with any equipment. For those that have no equipment it's fine, because they have rental stuff. It costs $35, and for that you get a gun, mask, chest protector, air tank with free refills, 500 paint and admission. It's a good deal.
The store is also good. They sell guns, paint, barrels, parts, barrel condoms, tanks, etc. All the stuff is pretty much retail price, you don't have to worry about getting ripped off. They have tools and paper towels and stuff you can use for free if you need them. They also have cheap refills for co2 or air.
At lunch time you get free hot-dogs, all you can eat. It comes with admission. Theres decently priced soda/water/juice machines as well.
All in all, it's a great place to go spend a day playing paintball, I highly recommend it.
This was my first time getting a group together and trying paintball. Didn't know what to expect. The staff at Matt's took the time to walk us through everything and got us everything we needed for a good outing. They have plenty of space and various terrains to keep the games interesting. We also connected with some of the regulars for some larger team games. Everyone had a good time, felt they got good value for their money, and are anxious to go back. The staff at Matt's also kept us from getting hungry with plenty of hot dogs on the grill.
Hogan's Alley... good x-ball field and thats about it. Hogan's is dirt compared to Matt's
the first time i went to Matt's was in 2004 and i had my spyder xtra and was a total noob. i was expecting to get made fun of or have people not want to be on my team when we played xball. but i was wrong. the people there were so cool... and that hasnt changed a bit. everyone is great at matts and you never go a day there without meeting someone new and getting to know them. its such a layed back atmosphere where you can set up games with your friends or join a game thats about to start whenever you want. unlike hogans where you basically wait in line and get called up. Tom is the owner and hes a really cool guy... unlike Nick who owns hogans, he is so unpleasent to be around and made me not want to go there. Matts currently has a 7-man field, an Xball field, a tire field, and a huge woods field with 4 towers in it. they are currently building an indoor area which will hold 2 more fields. but in the end you cant beat matt's atmosphere, free air fills, and free hotdogs all you can eat!!! hope to see you at the outback sometime
I've played tournaments at fields all over New England. The reffing here is great, you never feel like you missed the cut to the semi finals because of a bad call.
Directions to the Field:
Use map quest
This field is my personal favorite to play tournaments. The reffing is great no bad calls and they let you have a fun day without letting people cheat. I always learn alot from the staff in the proshop about all the new things that are coming out. Unlike some places you order equipment, u get it in the time that you were quoted. I don't know bout you but that means alot to me when you have a tourney in a week. Come check it out!
I literally live over 300 miles away in upstate Maine and trust me when i say this.... its worth THE DRIVE!!! I have played two tournament here one 3 man and 5 man and there been nothing but respect from both the owners and staff.
They have even gone as far as letting our team stay the night at their lodge after countless hour roadtrips....... PEOPLE!!! it doesnt get any better than this!
This field is one of the best run feilds around. Games run swift and on time. Plenty of space to set up and the staff is amazing. The owners are excelent. They help you out with anything and almost every thing. The spectaters are just as nice. The players all get along and the prizes, which are given to all teams that entry.
