SC Village, Hollywood Sports Park, Tombstone, Xpark, Conquest, and the ultimate o.g. indoor place: Impact Zone
trust me, i've been to worse parks...there's this one field in torrance that my friend and i drove to...they only had 1 FIELD~~!! and the worse thing was that it was small and crooked...when i mean crooked, i mean it looked more like an octagon than a square or a rectangle, so the cross-angles were freaking nutz...i evaluated the field, and drove off as fast as my honda could take me...
jungle island has free compressed air. i think that some of the workers there aren't all that competent especially in the filling area, and seriously, if anything is gonna blow up and cause an accident, it's gonna be around the fill stations. they also host airsoft games there, and most of the time they just get off the field if they see the real ballaz coming...fields are pretty okay, except for the stupid hill, which i have, and never will play on. that field looks like an ankle-buster waiting to happen. cross fire from other fields is kinda an issue, and like all woods fields, the boundary where one starts and another ends is kinda vague. since i live near downtown l.a., the drive is kinda crazy for me, especialy on the drive back. but besides all those things, i think that it's a great place for noobies and advanced alike to go pballin at, and it is very family friendly. if you are ever there, look for the asian guys with the yellow dye jerseys on, we'll most likely be there~~!!
NEVER, I REPEAT NEVER, EVER GO TO CONQUEST in north hollywood~~!!
man talk about a great field, this place has it all! tons of fields for everyone! woodsfields type for the newbies (maximum hiding), and tons of speedball/hyperball related ones for pros. free air fills!!! doesnt sound like much but it helps a ton. they have a station where u can fill your own tank. NO LONG LINES! 3 self serve stations, and 2 full serve stations. no lines regardless! staff is great, very helpful and laid back.
survey says . . . CHA CHING!!! (GO PLAY AT THIS FIELD RIGHT NOW! I MEAN IT!)
jeremy and gunny are the best! ;)
Tombstone, a little better than jungle island in terms of field setup, a little crowded than Jungle island,
when i parked my car , my first impression was , its a cool field. heres how it goes
THE GOOD :
-nice parking area, lots of trees, shady.
-tables near the staging area, A+, very nice shaded by trees too
-food is aight , pizza, everbodys favorite, sodas and water, 1 dollar each
-refs are cool, very helpfull, do their job right, they personally check and chrono your
-gun, very friendly staff.
-fields are awesome, i dig the city, not the field where its located in the hillside, dange
rous, rocky, and tiring., and congo is pretty cool too.
-ticket prices, 15 dollars for private, 20 bucks for walk ons, we played private , so i got
the 15 bucks.
-some fields are shaded by trees, very nice especially during those hot days of
THE NOT SO GOOD
-the park is a little bit hidden, got lost for a while trying to find it, but its nothing major
-some fields are a litle bit far, needs quite a bit of walking
-buying and renting stuff is a bit of a hassle , if you want to buy air, you have to go to
the cashiers window to pay , they'll give a ticket , then you'll have to go another win
dow to get ur tank field, 2 windows to go for one thing, its time consuming.
-takes 15-30 to begin first game.
-have to wear your goggles all the time even if you are not in the field because the
walkway and each field is only separated by ropes, not nets, not like tombstone.
and sometimes confuses you if you are still on the field you are playing.
-the distance, its pretty far from my home, in Orange county, but if you want fun,
gotta go were fun is, even if its 50 miles away,
-restrooms, port potties only,
Overall, i really like this park, i had so much fun, coz we smoked our rivals, 9
straight games, heheh, the fields are great. ill definitely come back.
SC-nice arena balling, over crowded
Pendelton-ok, refs are anal
Very friendly staff, some refs were even chronoing some of the kids with rentals. refs do thier job well, the ones i were with were willing to run into the field to do a paint check.
gun hits dont count (hm not really sure if this is a pro)
the food was ok too, pizza @ 1 buck a slice is hard to beat
walks to staging and field are within reason (im guessing 1/4 of a mile @ most)
Port-o potties (not that bad)
canned soda was a buck (you would have to buy a drink ticket)
5 buck refils for co2
i missed the entrance twice..it was on the left (not the fields fault my stupidity)
Okay ive played @ SC village and Tombstone for many many years and Jungle Island Was kind of the Baby sitter of my youth and Where i got started i might add. Well Ive gone to jungle island since some of the very first owners **they have switched owners many many times*** but, the park has gotton better and better over the years from the gorilla fighting in the Congo to the Field play speedball its great and the service is pretty good because there isnt 500000000000000000 people there like SC Village And Tombstone **downfall of the park NOT ENOUGH FIELDs i give the field an 7 ...
For $15 a person ina private group game isn't bad, but they charge you for a lot of things. It's like $1 an o-ring if you didn't have any seconds and $5 for one Co2 fill no matter the size. The great part is the free Co2. They have a fill station hooked up right outside the trailer so all you gotta do is plug in your tank and fill it up by pressing a button. Some refs are good and some aren't. If you're lucky, you'll get a ref that's actually willing to run into the middle of the field to pull someone or paint check them. The others usually just stand at the tape and just yell. Jungle-Island doesn't have a wide variety of food, but they have what most people like, pizza. It's only sold at lunch time when everyone takes a break. They also got water and soda. The staging area where you chill when not playing is shady and cool, which is really nice on the hot days. The fields are good for the rec-ballers. They have a lot of different types of scenario themed fields like City, Outback(A hill), Trenches, Congo(Monster Truck Tires), and Valley(Has a helicopter at the 50). But don't go there expecting many speedball fields. They 3 speedballs fields: Pipes and 2 Hyperball field. Pipe's bunkers are shaped like Hyperball bunker, but made outta concrete. And one of the Hyperball fields isn't that great. It's cluttered with tubes. The other hyper field isn't as packed with tubes. Overall, Ima give Jungle a 7 because the staff isn't great, but not bad. And because I didn't the fields were too great.
Jungle Island is player friendly park. They have a shaded area with tables for those who don't have a car to put your stuff in. They have great fields. Some of the fields are in the shade. Some of those fields are volcanoes, river, congo and amazon. They also have fields that are out in the open such as valley, one of my favorites, it consists of car bunkers, hay bunkers, log bunkers, and regualr wood bunkers. Jungle island also has hilly courses such as outback. One of my favorite things there is that they provide FREE AIR!!! They also provide CO2 fills. You can also bring your own paint. The refs are experienced and make fair calls. Jungle Island provides for a challenging yet fun experience for all players.
well first of all, im a noob..but i know what ur all thinking..but hey, everyone has to start sometime huh? some time is better than never i say, especially when it comes to paintballing! hehe anyway...this is the 2nd field i went to...the other was SC village (as mentioned above) much more relaxing than that...more enjoyable overall, less people made the atmosphere more friendly, people seemed to converse nicely, even if it was strangers. only 20 for private group, for 15 bucks a person. i really liked this course, i wanted to do volcano, and some others, but my gun stopped functioning (see my thread for core tigersharc lol) didnt get Co2 there, cause i have 2 tanks that i already filled....i was waiting for some friends that were waiting in line though, sorta took a lil while...ref didnt really know what he was doing, people were blind shooting (which i think is a safety hazard) and he didnt say doo doo, pretty good fields...although i must tell u, that Hill field.....that one SUCKS! i hate it! i twisted my ankle running down lol, it got so swollen and it was hard to walk! (that's what waivers r for lol) anyway, the trenches were awesome...i think gernades r ok here, cause my team mate used one and the ref didnt say anything (but as i mentioned before h didnt know what he was doing, so eh) chrono here, but not really enforced...but in respect to other people i didnt bump up my velocity...umm sucky food though, i dont remmeber there being any food places in the area......that's about it =)
One of the best parks Ive ever played, The staff are cool the staging area is nice and shaded, and the fields are superb. Theres a wide variety of fields which make things more challenging and more entertaining. The rules aren't over enforced yet the players arent out of control. A definite must play in california!
