So I saw a sign that said Paintball Field a few weeks ago and I decided to check it out. I have been out of paintball for the last two years due to a injury and I wanted to get back into at least the rec ball scene.
Xtreme Paintball's owners have made it pretty clear that they are looking to be more of a Rec Ball focused field. (So don't come out expecting to see a bunch of air-ball fields with a bunch of tourney players out there)
The first field I played on is a speed ball field with reinforced wooden bunkers and two mini-forts with camo netting draped over them for a little cover and a small boat sitting near the middle of the field to add a little something extra to the look. The field plays pretty well if you have some expernaice players. I made a suggestion to have a snake put in the field to really give the center some action and from what I'm told that is the next item to go in!
The second field I played on is a bamboo/sandbag field. This field is pretty neat, the only way I can really explain the field is to give it a name which is Viet-kong vs USMC. The USMC side of the field is cleared out with sand bagged bunkers and right at the 50 yard line of the field it turns into a heavly wooded area that reminds me of jungle (the Viet-Kong), The Viet-kong side has bamboo bunkers and even has a few bambo 4 sided mini-forts and some of them are two story. I'm told by the owners they are looking to get a heli-copter frame at some point and time and drop it in the middle of the field as well to give it a nice look and feel.
The third field I have played on is way in the back (a hefty walk.) that has tin built forts and is heavly wooded as well. It also has a creek with several bridges built over it with forts on both side to make some intresting fire fights. I liked the use of tin on the forts cause it gives a nice sound effect when people are hammering the fort.
The other cool thing is the owners like to randomly toss out smoke grenades durring the day which adds a little more to the experiance of playing.
Prices over all are very fair. It's field paint only, but you can get a case of field paint for 60 bucks. Rentals are brand new Tippmanns for 15 bucks which includes air/mask and some rounds (I don't remember how many rounds though) If you bring your own equipment it's only like 5 bucks for the field fee.
Over all its pretty good experiance and I plan to continue to play there, also the netting around the field is pretty top notch.
I give the field a 9 out of 10 because they do not have compressed air YET, I have been informed they are in the works of getting compressed air, but at the moment they do not, so bring your tank(s) filled. I have two 68/4500's and I can usally go a whole day shooting about 1200 rounds out of my Angel. If you are comfortable with the owners handling your tank, they will hold on to them and have them filled for you for the next time you come back and play. (They take your tanks to a shop in austin to have them filled)
I would reccomend anyone that enjoys some Rec Ball action to try this field out. Prices are fair and fields are great.
