Cousins Paintball Staten Island (Formally SI Paintball) Paintball Field
In comparison to this field...this question doesn't matter
SIPB is a horrible place...I'm not going to fight it even though I absolutely love the place...So i'll just start the list and defend the place where i can
---The fields do smell because of the cats that still live there but they can't exactly kill the cats...that'd be cruel
---The fields are in horrendous condition but that isn't the refs fault or anyone else's but the owner, Eve. She refuses to spend any money whatsoever on the place. Nothing to fix the bunkers, nothing to fix up speedball and nothing to fix all the broken equipment.
---The refs are NOT losers. Ok that's a lie. Most of the refs are very nice guys that want to do nothing but be helpful. Sometimes they have bad days and are quite mean. Some of the refs are disgraces and cannot be fired (because they are relatives of the owner). Some of the best refs got fired recently...the ones who actually care about the place and it's customers. It was really sad to seen such great reffing talent let go. However it was not their fault they got fired. Well a little bit but not entirely. Remember if you are nice and respectful to the ref he will be the same way to you...if you treat him like dirt you will recieve the same. It is the small children with big mouths that make the refs mean and angry all the time. Plus some people should be able to take a joke. They aren't their to hurt you only to help and make your day a little brigther. But when you turn a deaf ear on them and refuse to listen to the rules you don't deserve respect because you give none.
---The pro-shop is in miserable condition and things are completely overpriced. There is no fighting this. However the reason they are pushy is because the owner's other little endeavor (the golf) is failing. She needs to make money somehow and orders from the boss no matter how dumb are still orders. Also please remember that the high priced equipment requires cash. And since she won't even pay five bucks for a piece of wood do you really think they are gonna stock DM5's anytime soon?
---In closing this field really does suck major monkey ass. But do not take it out on the refs or on the black-haired one for that matter. It is not their fault. There really is nothing they can do. Just try to support the cause. Maybe if everyone just stops going she'll get the point. And someone please post this message on the door to the place.
Remember this is still our local field and we should support it...just a little bit...buy some oil or a barrel cover...just help out. Nobody forces you to play. Thanks for listening
One last note. Have fun and dont shoot the cats!!!! hehe
Top Gun, High Velocity, Cousin's, Del Hobbies, Rex Plex and OTP All of these other fields blow SI Paintball out of the water.
In it's beginning, Iam sure Staten Island Paintball wasn't half bad. Five years later, the place is still the same if not worse. When people open a business (any business) the owners should constantly try to improve and better the business for their customers and more importantly for their profit. Seems like a simple concept but they just don't seem to get it at SIPB. This place is so run down it is ridiculous. There are 3 fields. There are actually 4 if you want to count one of them which is literally a swamp. These fields are in terrible shape. Their speedball field is a beach, covered in mosquito's and quite frankly smells. I don't rent, but their rental equipment is in very bad condition, and seems to be quite a nuisance to whomever does rent. Prices are as high as a fat mans cholesterol. Just recently they lowered their crappy paint to $80 a case. Wow, that was nice of them. Everything in their pro shop is overpriced ridiculously. They really don't have anything in there anyway. The office staff is miserable. They seem to be mad that people want to come spend money at there establishment. The owner, I believe really is evil. The staff is so-so. If you are cool with them they can be alright. If you are a newbie, GOOD LUCK. The refs to them, are just plain rude and DO NOT DO THEIR JOB. They sit on picnic tables all day that is pretty much it. The place used to be pretty cool when they had other people working in their, but they left a while ago and the place is in a downward spiral. This place needs someone with a brain and some money and they will have a goldmine. It is the only field in NYC, they should use that to their advantage. In closing, if you are thinking about going there, save your self the trip and go to rex plex or top gun.
Being the only filed in NYC I had no other choice. The place is small and dirty. Feels like you're playing in a dumpster. Management has nasty attitude to players. The refs are ok. I wouldn't recommend it even for beginners. It'll just ruin your interest in paintball. I drive 2 hours to High velocity paintball in long island now. It's worth the long drive and I see other players from NYC making the drive.

I went on wednsday for BYOP.
This place licks donkey balls. The rental guns are duct taped together. The masks are scratched beyond recognition. First two games I could see something. And then it was on average 30-40 sec before I couldnt see 2 feet infront of me. Why you ask? Well several reasons, the field has way too much sand, it is everywhere. (beware if you have an expensive gun, you'll end up praying that it still works at the end of the day) And of course lets not forget the helpful refs, it took them two games to get some water to the freaking field, so i could at least wash my mask. I was just sitting there those two games because my mask was so dirty I couldnt play.
Speaking of the refs. This was somewhat funny. There are maybe 5 refs (well actually its probably 1 or 2 the other people just hang around out there) on the 200x100(or so) foot field. Id give the refs 15 -17 years old. All of them stay outside the field on the bench talking to each other and NOT DOING ___. One of them thought it was hilarious to scream for no apparent reason. Not to mention the fact that one of the refs was very disrespectful to one of my friends (throwing paint at him). These are kids not refs. They cant keep themselfs in control, how can they look after the game. This guy was 2 words away from having his face breaked in. A ref gave my position away to the oposing player on the field. OH LOOK HES THERE HES THERE BEHIND THE BARELS (this is coming from a ref!). Disgrace!
To sum it up, the place blows. Dont waste your time and money.
Get the extra 10-20 $ and go to a place that forces you to buy their paint, but at least gives you some service.
Ok...this is for the people who wants to go on wednesday...The BYOP is good. You can only play at speedball. First time when i played there the refs were good, one of them actually was on the field and he was doing his job.
Second time it was like a nightmare, the refs were just sitting there and didnt do sh!t.
The biggest minus is that the sand is everywhere, so i had to clean up my gun every time, and when i came home it took me to clean everything for like 3 hours...
I would not recommend this field...Its better to go to cousins...
i have played here many times, the refs are cool, the field could use some help, there is way too much down time between games, i dont think they should waste time ordering linch in the middle of the day, they should have a portable filling station in the speedbal area so you dont have to waste more time walking back to the picnic areathey beat you over the head with the paint prices and the pro shop is way expensiveand very small, the best thing they have going for them is that they are close to home, otherwise i would have to drive to penn. or nj, if you havve the time drive somewhere else.......................playsafe
cousins, rexplex, ABC, skirmish, and any place there is a tourny
the refz are nice and they know what they are doing, but the owner is an A$$hole. my team went to play there and he was nice to us, but when this little kid wearing a sweatshirt and retal stuff came to the counter and was pressuring him to spend all of his money here like this is the best place. dont go here if you are gullable.
I've played at many fields in NJ and NY, including Cousins Outdoor (Coram), Cousins Indoor (Hauppauge), High Velocity, RexPlex, Fireball Mountain, Pinelands, and Skirmish in PA.
I've played at SI Paintball several times in the last few years, and have really come to like this place; it's an excellent outdoor field. Safety is emphasized. Paint prices are high (good quality brands though like Diablo and RPS), but for a field so close to NYC, what can you expect? In my experience, the fields that charge the most offer the best reffing and have best maintained fields and run the best operations, it's that simple; you get what you pay for. And your money is well spent at SI Paintball: good fields, helpful staff, competent refs and always attracts a good crowd.
This is the Worse Feild I have Ever Played At. The refs are Rude, and the few times I have played there some refs were high. The boss is a very nasty person and the prices are RIDICULOUS. I LIVE on staten Island, and rather go to rexplex in NJ ( about 10 minutes away) ... SI paintball is feild paint only at ONE HUNDRED bux a case, I can spend 55 at rexplex...
It smells, its run down, I do not reccomend
TOP GUN, SKIRMISH, HIgh Velocity, Cambodia, my backyard
Being the only field in NYC is a plus. You can even use Mass Transit to get there. The prices are high, but then again so is the whole sport of paintball. Take advantage of the BYOP days! The pro shop is small and overpriced. The fields are ok, but they lack style. They look more like a garbage landfill. The speedball field is old and tired. They could use a super airball field ( HINT HINT). The reffs are friendly. The dragon is scary. Air Nazi is mean! On a more positive note, the Asians working there add a realistic feel to the combat action. Overall a decent place to get in some paintball.
