I have not played at any other field besides mine or my friends private property. However I have have played at a couple of little tournaments that our local County youth program has put on. These fields were put up and torn down specificly for the tournament.
Review: I took a group of students to this field as a planned event. I called the owners a month in advance to aquire prices for groups and individuals. The owners were very organized and helpful. There was never any question if they were going to make concessions for our group. The price for a group of 15 or more was $16.94 if the players had no paintball equipment at all. This was great for my group because most of my students had never played before. upon arriving at the field we were amazed at how big everything was and how organized everything was. this was by far a succesfull event for me and my students. James took time out of his day to have a Q&A session for all of my new players. The atmosphere on every field was fun! All of the reff's and employees were kind and very helpfull.
The fields were laid out perfectly. they were not so big that it took you forever to cover half the field yet not too short that you would get picked off before you reach cover. The overwealming feeling that I have about the fields at Gateway Action Sports is that this place is awesome! I love it, and will return very soon with more groups.

They are cool, mostly woods ball, but they are so far from anything its not even funny. despite them being so far away they are worth going to if you like woods ball.
Directions
to the Field:
Easy peesy one two threesy. Coming from I-24 you get off at exit 11 and head west. You go about a mile and a half and turn right onto Vaughn road. If you pass the strip mall you went to far, its right there on the corner of SR76 and Vaughn. You go to the end of Vaughn Rd and turn left onto a Drive and keep right following the gravel path to the field behind the house.

From Walmart, head east on Sr 76(I.E. Towards I-24) Turn left onto Vaughn Rd just past the Strip mall on the left. Follow Above directions once on Vaughn Rd.
Review: What to say about GAS, the management is really nice and cool, the staff including the refs are cool, even more fun to shoot at, he he don't tell em I said that. The place is huge, lots of parking, 2 speed ball fields and a Xball field under construction. The Rec ball fields, the ones I like, are bigger than big. The village is just that a village of small buildings and bigger buildings connected upstairs by a series of walkways. The woods, aka Fort, is pretty big with a wooden fort in the middle. Not to long ago they joined to the two fields by placing a field in between them making for a fairly small to medium scenario ball field. They haven't done vehicles that I know of, but if they could I imagine they would. If you haven't been here yet and you like paintball I would go or you can literally shoot yourself in the foot. If you don't play paintball but are interested you need to go and see what paintball is all about.

Review: Safety:

There is at least one ref for every game, and they make sure that barrel plugs/condoms are used, and that face masks are on. Also, there is good netting around the 3 speedball fields.

Fields:

Since I'm a rec player, those are the fields I'll focus on. However, I'll mention the speedball field basics.

3 speedball fields:
-Tubes- A good sized plastic tube field, it is completely surrounded by nets and is in good maintainence. It is also surrounded by lights for night play.
-Airball- I can't describe much about it besides that it's a field with inflatable bunkers that is in good condition and surrounded by netting. It is also surrounded by lights.
-Xball- This is a new field at G.A.S. It has netting on at least 2 sides, and is in great shape. I do not know if this field has lights.

3 recball fields:
-Village- This is a large field of wooden structures, perhaps 15 or 20 of which are single story structures. The central feature is a set of 5 two story structures which are connected by walkways. It is a fun field to play on and is in good shape (though I noticed a couple places where wall boards were either missing or had disintegrated somewhat).
-Woodsball/Fort- This field is pretty large, and consists of many small bunkers/walls (made out of wood or sandbags) surrounding a fort-structure that is in a wide treeline along the Red River. I probably enjoyed this field the most, since there were trees and undergrowth to play around and in. The biggest flaw that I see with it is that the fort structure is more like a maze with a platform to watch over it, rather than a proper fort. The reason that I'd call it more of a maze is due both to the many walls subdividing the interior of the fort, and also due to the lack of windows/firing ports in the walls. This lack of firing ports means that the main reason to try and hold the fort is to keep it from being occupied by the enemy, and not for any great defensive advantage. But like I said, it is still a fun field to play on.
-Spools- This field is essentially an open area widely scattered with individual spools and bunkers made of spools, and lies between the Village and Woodsball/Fort fields. I have not played it, and from what I've heard it is primarily played when a large group wishes to use the Village, Spool, and Woodsball/Fort fields for one large game. Probably the greatest problem with this field is the distance between spools (30-40 feet?) and the lack of tall obstacles.

Hours: I'm not sure on these, except that somewhere between 4 and 5 PM, "Outlaw" play is allowed, meaning that ramping and automatic fire is permitted up to a bps limit of 15 or so.

Prices:
Entry + air or CO2 = $18 + tax

2 grades of Paint (don't remember brands)
$45 per case and $65 per case

Rentals available: Tippman 98s with aluminum HPA tanks and Vforce (I think) masks. All equipment seemed to be in either good or excellent condition, and I did not notice anyone having a problem with their equipment.

Rules:
None that are unusual, except that you can bring your own paint.

Services/Proshop:
Some equipment can be purchased here, and some parts can be purchased here. I can't cite any examples, though. However, there isn't a large store. Also, some snacks and refreshments are available for purchase.

Staff:
Chris and James run the field, and are assisted by a fair number of young paintball enthusiasts. They're great guys (James gave me a free CO2 refill near the end of the day while knowing I had only paid for the entry fee) and run this field quite well. They care about what players think about the field, and are working to improve it. (Apparently they acquired this field, formerly the Red River field, less than a year ago. I haven't heard anything but good about how much they have improved the facility.)

Players:
The people that I've met here are great to play with, and aren't cheaters or unsportsmanlike. Each time I have played here, there have been roughly 20 or 30 individuals playing at any given time. I expect that more people play on days when the temperature is above 45 degrees, or when it isn't on the borderline between fog and a drizzle. I just haven't been one of those people.

Conclusion:
This is a great facility with great prices. Though I'd like to see the Woodsball/Fort field changed slightly, I have enjoyed coming here every time, and would recommend it to anyone who wishes to make the drive.

(9.5/10)

Review: Gateway Action Sports (GAS) is a great place. It fits every ballers style from woods and speed ballers, to family outings or a church group. Fields go from trees with a few obstacles to a new 08 style X-ball Field. Every time I am there, I have a great day of play, receive courtesy from staff and players, and really get lost in a community of common paintballers in the stead of a usual business type place that I get from other fields.

The new management is an outstanding couple of guys. These guys are players, they see everything from a players point of view, and by doing so improve the facility x2. They are always out and about talking to fellow players, helping where ever they can, and most of the time people don't even know that an owner of the field just helped them fix there gun or gave them some pointers on their game.

On-the-field refs are genuine people. They get the job done better than most and do it in a quick conflict free manner. They do an excellent job.

Prices are better then fair. Since the owners know what it is to be a player, they beat the price to most fields I have been to. 18 dollars gets you all day air and entry. And since the owners appreciate our soldiers, military and dependents get a discount. Snacks and cold drinks are located in the main building for a reasonable price as well.

The players at this field are positive all the way around. On any given day you will see one complete stranger helping another with there day at the field. If I have ever had a problem with anything, I just ask the person parked next to me.

All around, the field, atmosphere, staff, players are hard to beat. I give it a 9 just to keep Chris and James motivated.

Review: This is a really impressive paintball field. It is the only paintball field in all of Tennessee and Kentucky where tournament players and scenario players can come and have fun all at the same time. A total of 5 playing fields are there at the moment but from what I hear there might soon be more. They have just put up a '08 regulation size xball field. Which is a lot of fun. They have promised to change the layout of the field once a month.

There are two large scenario fields. (1)The village is a urban field that has many, many buildings on it. 4 of those buildings are 2 stories tall, which is loads of fun to play. (2)The Fort is a large woods ball field that has a fort in the middle of the field. This a really fun field to play.

They also have 2 more speedball fields separate from the xball. (1) Hyper ball field and another (2) air ball field.

Players
The field averages 50 to 75 players on any given day. During the summer, it has been known to have 200 players on a weekend.

The Refs.
The reffing at this field is amazing. They average 3 to 4 refs at each field at all times.I have yet to play on a paintball field that has this many refs at each field. The refs are good and they are all about safety. The field has an EMT on staff on weekends and some refs trained in CPR. Masks are required all the time when you are on a field and refs make sure your barrel plugs are on when you leave the field.

The Prices.
Field Fee- $5
All day air- $13
They have great military discounts and really good group rates.
They also sell drinks. (Bawls Energy drink, Cokes and Gatorade), candy bars, ice cream, cookies and chips.

Hours of operation
The field is open during the hours of Saturdays 8-4 CST, and Sundays 10-5. Other days can be booked during with week with reservations.

This field is making great headway in becoming known as the field of choice for paintball players.

Review: I thought this place was great. The field owner is all about safety. Signs are very clear was to when you can take your barrel sleeve off and whe you must have a mask on. Every game that I saw being played had a Ref, who knew what they were doing.

They had 4 fields up and running at the time I was there. The 2 Speedball fields, Airball and Hyperball, were well laid out and very well maintained. The Village field and the Woodball field have a connecting open area. This allowed the attacking teams for either field to be spread out nicely. They have a 5th field that they were working on that should be up soon if not by the time I am writing this.

Hours are 8 am to 4 pm Sat. and 10 am to 5 pm Sun.

The office had a good slection of snacks and drinks at very decent prices. As well as Tippmann Custom 98's with 20 oz. Comp. Air tanks for rent. They do have CO2 if you bring your own tanks.

Prices as of the flyer I have are:

Field Fee - $5
All Day Air - $13
Rental Gear - $10 a day

Bathrooms are 2 Porta Pottys (I had no problem with this) cause it beats a tree.

In conclusion for the price and atmosphere this is a amazing field!

Review: This field is definitely the best I have ever been to. Its run by a very nice guy and the refs are awesome. Fort Campbell can't compare because this field has a lot more variety and people. The old Red River field that was turned into this was not near as friendly and the fields have been redone to be a lot better. The one of the best things about this field is there is always refs. And not like one or two you will have exactly whats needed for your game won't be to many where one stands beside you the whole game and won't be to less where the guy you shoot never gets checked. People there are always helpful and the atmosphere is excellent.

The workers will help fix your gun lend you tools to fix a part. The people who come to play are also very nice for example one lent my friend a very good hopper because his messed up. I have made so many new friends at this field. This is just a all around great field and I suggest it to new players and experienced alike.

Review: Gateway Action Sports is a great field. The fields are very well maintained with the grass well groomed. The staff and operator are a great group with a new vision for how a paintball field should be ran in our area. The attention to safety is unparalleled by any other field i've been to. It is not only strongly focused on attention to barrel blocking devices and goggle safety, but you can hear the staff and operator reminding the players to stay safe with briefings and attention to other details like hydration on a hot day.

They cater to all types of players b/c they care about all types of players. Recreational players can enjoy the woodsball field and village, or mix it up on the 3 speedball fields(Spools, Air, and Hyper). Upper-level players and tournament focused teams can expect some good competition from some of the locals and they can have the opportunity to roll against the Sponsored team "Sinister Sainthood" who compete in the CFOA and other tourneys.

Their hours of operation from 8am to ? on sat. and sunday i can't confirm but i think its like 10am to 3 or 4pm. "outlaw" ball begins at 4pm on Saturday and goes to whenever the games end, due to the stadium type lights shine on the airball field. "outlaw ball" is defined by G.A.S. as a format of rules mirrored directly to the league in which Sinister Sainthood competes in. "PSP ramping" is allowed and encouraged as it helps the team practice for their events. Semi-Auto only is the rules during regular game play, and this ramping mode is only allowed from 4pm after on Saturdays

The real cool part of G.A.S. is that as i mentioned they cater to all types of players. They even offer discounts for pump players. Being one of those pump players, i can't tell you how much it means to finally garner a little attention in the pball scene. Enough so that pump players receive a half off discount on their field fees/all day air. 10$ and some change gets you on the field and all day air...not too shabby!

good field, great attention to the customer, and focus on safety and fun. check it out

Review: Gateway Action Sports is very organized and neat. The fields always have a ref standing by. The refs are really nice and energetic!! They dont mind sitting down with a kid and helping them, weather is fixing their gun or just giving them some pointers! A great group of people. Very fair. They always give safety briefings before each and every game. The field fees are really decent. Its $18 for all day play and air. There paint is $40 a case. And they even have concessions!! Its just as expensive as walmart paint but alot more better quality! G.A.S. is opened form 8am till night fall. This field is all about safety! If you havent noticed....since it went from Red River to G.A.S. they have taken out many hazardous things such as the cars on the village field and the valley on the fort. They put up new orange netting around the village and fort. The refs stress much about barrel condoms and masks!! This is also a family environment!! You can just watch your son/daughter play with no stress and with ease. Its a place where you can go and just hang out with friends all day!

Review: Gateway is the old Red River Paintball Field. They are under new management and they have improved the place drastically. Cleaner and more friendly, better fields and more attendance have made the place a paintballers haven. I have known the owner for many years and he will deliver an excellent experience for you and your group. Check them out. I give them two thumbs up!!!!!
