Review:
Velocity has a great tournament hyperball field, with great referee's for an all around good time. The field is ran well, the atmosphere is safe, the have a nice woods city field but I have never played it. I have friends that did and they enjoyed it. They run specials for player appreciation days, and team schrimages. They also run a complete paintball store in Iowa city so they can provide you with anthing that you need. Its a very good field sure worth a road trip. I rated it an 8 out of 10
Alright, this is the field and the guys that introduced me to paintball. They do an excellent job of running their field and is very well kept. The ref job is excellent and they mix the new guys in really well. They change the hyperball field up constantly, which is a good thing and a pain, but oh well. The first couple of times I went I was having serious trouble with my piranha and the guys out at the field helped me and waited for me to play. The only bad memory I have there is getting bunkered on my first time out. Sometimes this scares people away, so its not such a good idea to do it to the renters and newbies. The only other bad thing is the fact that they only have 2 fields, so you get a taste of either play style, but not a full bite.
All in all this is a really good field to start playing at. This field is basicly where I learned to play paintball. My new mentors are Team Spank.
Great fields! First, the guys who run it are awesome... knowedgable and just plain fun to hang out with. They're always willing to help if you've got trouble with your own equipment in between play and whatnot. Second, they've got two great fields. The woods field has a fort and various other shacks and bunkers for cover. The hyperball field is the nicest I've tried, and on top of that, they change the design all the time, so you're rarely playing on the exact same setup. This allows you to keep coming back and never get bored. Third, if you're in the tournament scene, the guys at Velocity hold about a tournament every month, and usually have one geared to younger players, as well. Fourth, no field fees, enough said!
The fields are ever changing and well designed. I love spending time out there... the only inconvenience is the out-of-the-way location, but thats not nearly enough to spoil it... a 10!
