Paintball Charleston is my favorite...can't wait to get back down there.
Review: I had high hopes for this field after reading many of the reviews, but I was greatly disappointed. I bought my first marker 20 years ago, before there were fields, and I've played on a lot of fields. So, I may have a higher standard than most and I judge accordingly.

This was one of the worst experiences I've had, if not the worst. Adding to that, I drove 9 hours the night before to try out this field. I took my friend, who lives near the field, as he'd never played before. He didn't play again for two years (and went somewhere else) after experiencing this field. I can only hope it has improved since then.

Safety:
Started off with a standard, mandatory safety briefing. The owner/field manager made the talk interesting and fun for the newer guys. But translation to the field left a lot to be desired. The refs seemed more interested in riding around in their cart and keeping the field sponsored team happy then making the experience enjoyable for all players. I witnessed the sponsored team showing up, skip the chrono and jump right in a game without the mandatory safety briefing. Not setting a good example for the younger, impressionable players.

I discovered the hard way that they should have been made to chrono. One of them almost took my arm off with a 60-70 ft shot to the forearm. It broke the skin and left a knot the size of a golf ball. Not likely if they were shooting legal. But, when I complained to the ref he was more fascinated by the wound than the violation...nothing was done about it.

By the end of the day, there were several players, like myself, disgusted. In the end, the owner/field manager came on the field and chastised several of the players and several of the refs, but this took a barrage of paint to one of the refs and came way too late in the day.

Hours of Operation:
Typical

Prices:
Average, air seemed pricey.

Rules:
If they'd been enforced, the probably would have been fine.

Proshop:
This was closed or closed very early the Saturday I was there. I had a tank problem and my friend was after a new barrel, but we couldn't buy anything but paint and air.

Players:
Walk-ons were friendly. The field sponsored team players were arrogant, not surprising as the rules didn't seem to apply to them. They really took away from the experience.

Refs:
Some of the worst I'd seen, but I think they were intimidated by the team players.

Facilities:
Plenty of covered tables for everyone. Porta-potties only.

Food:
They sold some decent hot-dogs. That was nice as the last field I played at sold no food.

Fields:
The fields are the only thing that brought my rating as high as it is. They offer a decent variety. I played on at least 4 large woodsball fields. The only field I could complain about was the first one out to the left. It was way too rocky. If I attempted to crawl or slide, I got cut up. Definitely bring your pads.

Review: PEV's is an excellent place because of the amount of space they have. The only thing is you can only use the wood courses unless you have researved the speedball fields. The Refs are all about safety and there are plenty of them. Plus people from the Fredericksburg area(maybe other places out of town also) get in for free. You still have to pay for air but if you are using HPA you can get all day air for $13, CO2 can get a little expensive. The walk-on groups can get pretty large, ometime 50 man teams. I have heard that parking can be a problem but i got there early and didnt have a problem. They also have a lounge area for moms and such that dont wanna sit in the car all day.

Review: Being that i've only been to Pevs and no where else, i cant really say much as to compare this to Hogbacks...which had mixed reviews with Pevs. i mostly play woodsball in Pevs, but i heard that there are some good scenario games at Hogbacks. Good things about Pevs, is that big...and i mean BIG. plenty of fields to choose from all with some decent cover to hide under. though getting to certain fields feel like a boot camp hike. prices are pretty reasonable, but paint prices are a bit pricey. $65 for a case of 2000 rounds....eh....better make those shots count. and they could fix that bridge on the Compound Field. that way we dont get wet trying to cross the river/creek. rentals are decent, though they could clean the masks a little better....last time i wore a rental mask, i could still feel the sweat from the last person who wore (good thing i got my own gear)...eck!

Review: This place is a lot better than Hogback in my opinon. They have great service, friendly staff, 3 x-ball fields, and great woodsball fields. They also have local tournaments with professional teams as the refs. And the prizes are awsome! The woodsball fields are great too. There big enough to fit 80 people on each team. They even have a proshop there so if you need to buy an upgrade for your gun then just head right into the proshop.

Review: I went to PEVs @ AG the first time this past weekend, and I must say that my experience with it was extraordinary. I'll go ahead and list the Pros and Cons and then explain my thoughts.

PROS
- Great safety enforcement
- great field setup
- good staff
- decent prices & BYOP!

Cons
- some refs are way too young
- since this is such a huge field, you will encounter unsporting players
- OMG The walk! LoL

I'm mostly a Woodsballer, and this past weekend, i played at Pevs with my DM4 instead of my DC2. The fields were set up very intelligently, and has a great feel to it. It encourages strategy, team work, and a fast palced playing style. When we got there in the morning, the briefing was quite long, but afterwards, we got split up into different groups. Apparently, they have recenty started dividing people up between their sklll levels and firepower. So i was with the advanced walk on group. Everyone there carried their own guns, decked out gear and a professional playing attitude.

I was very glad I didn;'t have to play with young kids that trash talked and wiped like there is no tomorrow. Throughout the day, the games went very smoothly, and our judge was very professional, and kept things in check. At the last 2 games, we had 5 speedballer kids walk in, and they were not over 14 year old. They wielded their Nexus EGO and DMCs, and flaunted it in our faces. They went around and talked smack about everyone's guns, and made fun of our camo.

2 of them was on our team, and as the game got started, they started running and just camping near a log, which was perfectly fine. Then as i was advancing up the side, i saw two of them get hit, and I saw them wipe. I yelled, you're out, yet they just ignored me. Then as I was walking over to tell them that, they got hit on your arm they shoot me in the chest and said I was out. *Sigh* that was the worst experience ever....

We are all there to have fun, and it's sad how young kids starts cheaping at such an early age.

Other than that, the field was great, and I HIGHLY recommend everyone that reads this review to go check it out.

Overall, here are the prices:
Field Fee: 15
Air: $5 for 4500PSI
Paint: XBall Bronze $65 a case if you did not BYOP
And if you want to rent higher end markers, such as Ions and Timmys, they're 35 for ions and 45 for Timmys.

Hope that helped you out.

Review: Overall I enjoyedplaying and spending time with my brother and our friends.
Having said that, I will now let you know about my experience here. My brother and I have gotten back into Paintball after a few years not being involved. I traveled 9 hours to see him and to play a game with him and his buddies. We chose Pevs. I had head many good things regarding the company and the running of its fields. Wrong choice. From the get go it was no good. I rented a tank and when I went to Chrono it did not work. It would not pressurize the gun. I informed the manager of it and he announced to the entire proshop that "WE HAVE A DEFFECTIVE TANK HERE, IT COULDN"T BE THE GUN IT IS A DEFECTIVE TANK". It was interesteing that when he bled off the tank and refilled it it worked like a champ. Empty tanks don't work on most guns. If you are gonna be a jerk, make sure you are right. Next during his Safety briefing he made many threats about fair play and proper procedures and the consequences of these actions. Something about a foot and a rear end and never being alowed back. Funny that he talks a good game but I did not see any rules being enforced by his refs. In the four games that we played that day only one was without incident. The first game a man apparently did not hear the rules at the beginning of the game regarding the boudaries of the field and he snuck around the outer perimeter and took out part of our team from out of bounds in front of the ref. In another game one of the other players was ramping and nothing ws done about it. And my incident was that I had been shot and was walking off the field with gun held high above my head and paint on my goggles. One of the guys on the other team decided to take a few pot shots at me. it happened to be in front of a raf who did nothing. You could argue I was in the line of fire. 9 shots at 10 feet away does not constitute being in his line of fire. I have the bruises to prove it. When I brought this up to the ref he said he did not see anything. I left after that one. It is very important to have rules and saftety regulations, however if they are not going to enforce those rules we are threatened with before the game starts then they should not be working there. They simply took to mimicing the earlier manager in his jerk tone and barked at people as if we were idiots who never played before. Overall this was the worst paintball experience I have ever encountered. I will not be returning. Sorry if I am being harsh but it is what happened.

I know I am probably gonna get ripped for this review. I do not really care. I just hope that it opens the managements eyes as to what is giong on out in the fields. I have read the back reviews and it seems that ref issues are not new. Reffing is a hard job I know but these kids had no idea what they were doing. I did meet some really good players there who were really good to hang out with.

Review: Ok..ive been playin here for a long time, and this is what I have noticed....

Pros:

-AWESOME airball fields

-Get at least 6 games in before lunch

-No 20 foot rule.. :) BUnkering!

-Fairly Cheap Food

-Split groups by age

-Hard Working Refs

-SAFETY is their number 1 concern

Cons:

-Expensive paint

-Sometimes paint wiping....I try my best to kick em out and blacklist them

-Field can get muddy after it rains <-----play when it hasnt rained in like 5 days

So far....this field has been great to me. I have played there at lest 60 times and everytiime has been awesome. If it starts pouring right before the day starts or your gun break before you get to play, you'll get a raincheck. The staff tries to give you the best day possible and let you play some hardcore paintball. 10/10!!!

Review: Its an awesome field. They have a woodsball field and a speedball field. I didnt play the speedball field, as i am a devout woodzballer, but it looked clean, inflated, and big enough, yet small enough. all in all, the woodsball course is one of the best ive been to. they have towers, bridges, fallen trees, huts, a big river, plenty of cover. GO THERE!!

Review: I had a very bad experiance at this field. Lets start from the top, getting to the feild itself was hard, there were very few signs directing you where to go on the roads. We got lost and added 15mins to our drive. Once we got there, whick was about 10 AM, the parking lot was packed. My Tippmann 98 broke down first thing. We hadent played a game yet, but it broke down on the shotting range. We took it to the so called "Armory", the repair place. They just said that they didnt know what was wrong. They didnt seem to care or want to help. Luckly, i was at this field with my nice dad, so he let me borrow his gun for a few games. We headed out to the fields, but we couldnt find a place to play. We were just about to get killed by a bunch of guys with Angels, when the group we were loking for came by. We had already been at the field an hour and a half before we got our first game in! Once we got on the fields to play, I loved it. The fields are well designed and encurage a lot of teamwork and stratagy. I only got in 3 games before the refs decided it was time to take like a one hour lunch break. My group decided to leave because we were exaused from laying around in the heat waiting for the next game to start. Overall, I give this couse a 6. It would have been a 10 if they had a better repair station, better hot dogs, better organization and better doritos. I would recomend this place to people who are gonna stay all day.

Review: I first went to this field for my birthday (fist time ever playing) and it was great. The ref we had was friendly, and helped us if we had any trouble and answered all of our questions he could. It wasn't just the reff though, it was every one that works there. Every one is nice and won't treat you like some kind of noob even if you are one. The fill station can get a little slow but o well. They have spare parts for most guns if yours breaks down they will just fix it right there, and try to get it back to you before you leave. As far as their rentals go, over the years they have purchased more guns for rent. They have the standard 98 custom and pro light. For an extra $35 you can rent an intimidator, DM4, Angel, or cocker. However the hopper you get with these arn't very fast. The fields are great. They also have frields for any type of player. Woodsball, Speedball, or even both. The walkons often have about 30 people in them, so you get a good game when you go. The reffs do a great job of reffing. You also get to go to almost every field. Pevs holds Big Games/ Scenerio games every so often. I just went to a Black Hawk Down event and it was outsanding. Very well thought out and set up. My only complaint is that instead of reroping the bounderies, they simply took orange spraypaint and ran down the field with it. I grouped up with about 50 other people and we almost got out because of the misunderstanding of the bounderies. Over all i think this is an awsome field. Well woth all of your money
