I have also played at the new albany paintball emporium field in nassau and in albany. The out field was full of the smell of ciggerrte smoke from the employees. The indoor field was nice and clean but there was only speedball indoors.
This place is top of the line. The refs are great and fair. The guy who owns it (Bob) gave me a great deal on a tippmann 98 custom. The prices are very reasonable, 60.00 for a case of paint 10.00 for all day air and 10.00 for all week field fee. But there is a 1.00 per month membership fee. There are not a lot of players there when I went which was on a wensday and a Monday but on Saturday they tell me there are a lot of people. There is only a tech at the field on the weekends. The fields are clean and they take good care of them and their building. There are 5 or 6 different fields so you wont get borded there is only 1 field indoors and that is the speedball course but there is another speedball course outside. The staff is great there really friendly. There is a lounge upstairs so u can watch indoor and outdoor actionand see the whole field! They have great hours they are open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.!
3 friends and myself drove down to hornets nest from western mass and we had a great time. The guy who runs it is nice and helpful. you always feel safe there. the fields are great, a lot more in depth than the pictures on there website show. i found the prices reasonable. overall it was a fun experience but i would change one thing if i had the chance.......the refs, i'm pretty sure they were the guy who owns the place kids and the really didn't check to often for paint. i think this place needs a real staff.
ive stopped off at splat factory but it didnt look to appealing so i left.

call up and talk to BoB
ive been goin to the nest every weekend for idk 3 months or so. place is great they got 2 extremely nice speedball fields, an outdoor barrel field wich is pretty kool, a futuristic type field thing(one of my favorites), wich coinsides with a castle on top of a nearby hill, and they also have an old western style village wich is pretty wicked. somthin like 22 buildings. got great food to. i suggest the 5 cheese pizza with a yoohoo. admission is 10 dollars with a monthly 1 dollar membership. paint is only 60 bux wich is kool cuz the paints like 75 dollar paint. place is huge on safety. barrel plugs and masks on fields r a must. they got a pretty good shop and a dude named brother that could fix anything u throw at em. so if ure lookin for a cheap/exciting/worthwild paintball experience HornetsNest is a must. see ya there.
Do not use mapquest. It is easier just to call in and ask them yourself.
The Hornets Nest is the best paintball field i have ever been to. They are very safe, clean, nice, and smart. Their safety was very good. They were serious aboutt every safety factor so that no one could get hurt. They also have good food. Their courses were very fun also. They were well built and thought out. They have The Castle which is a sort of attack and defend couse but is erally fun and big. They also have two speedball courses.(One inside and One outside.) Their two main scenario fields are cool to. The Village which is an old western based village is very fun for a lot of peopl because there are tons of bukers and houses everywhere, but mostly on a mian road where most of the action goes down. The place is very clean to(Unlike the Splat Factory). They have a desent store to. They extra parts incase you ahev a brake down and they have employees that are capable of fixing mst problems. OVerall it was a very fun place and very good for beginners and groups.
I've played at the hornets nest a couple times, it is a good feild. they have alot of different things to do there.indoor, outdoor, castle, and a village. there is nothing i can say bad about them. they are a real nice group of people and they treat you with respect. the only thing i can say negative is the price.entry is normal ($20 that includes all day which is optional)but the price on paint is a little high.its $60 for the low grade and $70 for high. only reason not a 10 is price.
ps. dont eat the monteray ranch chicken sandwich.

I've gone to the Splat Factory, but Hornets Nest is better in every way possible. (Which explains why Splat Factory is no longer in business.)
Directions to the Field:
Go to Hornets Nest's web site, you can get the directions there.
Hornets Nest in New York is the best ever!! There are so many options for games. There is a king of the hill... WITH A CASTLE!! Then there are two speed ball courses' one outdoor and one indoors. There is also a field with 'Back To The Future' rocks...ooh yeah, this place is awesome. Lastly there is a town...yes, a whole town in the woods, it's insane! Also everyone one who works there is very accommodating. I got a new Ion and the hopper neck connecting to the gun was messed up, I got the Q Lock for it but I couldn't unscrew the old one. Because of that Bob Mathew spent 15 to 20 minutes EASILY getting that off. He tried everything from using his hands to a rubber ratchet (which broke...sorry about that) to using pliers with a towel (which worked). Also they won't do anything to your gun without your 'okay' so they don't scratch, ding or do whatever to your gun (which didn't even happen) without your approval. Their store as well has everything that you would ever need, from anti-siphon tanks to barrels. This place is the best to go paintballing at. I HIGHLY recommend this place for any rookie or veteran paintballers!

This was the very first time I went paintballing here, this place is awesome. It has great speedball courses, it has an awesome fort, and it has a huge village. Nassau's villages are nothing compared to the Hornets Nest village. The manegement was very good at the hornets nest.
This field is awesome. I've only gone paint-balling at a professional place twice but the kids i went paintballing with had a blast and said it was one of the best places that they have ever been. The thing that impressed me the most about this course was the selection, by selection i mean they have not one strong point as a field they have a great Castle with buckets below it for the invaders to have cover, they have a great village(that they call B-town)it has an overall 22 buildings so there is allot of covering buildings, they have 2 great speed ball courses 1 indoors the other out the indoors one is nice but it is not as large as the speed ball course out side, and they also have other courses.
If u want to have a good time go to the hornets nest!
The Splat factory
While The Splat Factory offered a great experience The Hornet,s nest has put together a great facility with great programs and great people.
As a player I enjoyed the experience the Hornet's Nest offered, but it really impressed me as a parent. I have two boys who enjoy playing paintball, but have had difficulty in finding safe organized opportunities locally. It is about an hour drive to their facility in Ancramdale but it is well worth the trip. The wide verity of fields can keep the kids busy for hours. The buildings are clean and well maintained. The store offers everything one could ask for from spare parts and upgrades to snacks and soft drinks.
But what really impressed me is the people. As a newcomer and amateur they made me and my boys feel welcome. Everyone was willing to take the time to answer questions, talk about upcoming events and share their knowledge with the kids. All this was done with an emphasis on safety. On one trip I brought three 11 year old boys with very little experience in the sport. As a parent I was comfortable and confident that the referees and employees would not just enforce the rules but also make sure they understood why they were important. They did a great job of helping the kids learn while they had a great time. On the way home one of the boys said it was better then going to Disneyland!
The Hornet's Nest is a great place to bring kids for a day the will long remember.
I have played at one other field in the area called the splat factory, and the hornets nest was much better.
The hornets nest is awesome. The fields are good, the staff is good, the refs are fair, and much more. The best field is the castle. There's lots of stuff to hide behind and you never get tired of it. THe store inside is also good. They have lots of equipment at good prices. Admission is only 10 dollars, C02 is ten for the day, a membership is only 1, and everything else is cheap. The only bad part is that you can only fill up one tank for the day, but you can refill that one as much as you want. But overall, the hornets nest is great.
