This is my first and favorite field - owners, staff, AND REF'S are all great! They adapt to the players - treat experienced players as adults and help the newbies!
The 3 fields are excellent for honing skills or having fun. And the staff get's creative with multi-field scenario games.
Typical "crowd" is +/- 25 players - plenty for fun games and enough room to spread out during play. I have even played here at the end of the day in a 3 man "everyone for himself" game that was of the best games I've played.
There are regulars that are excellent, Daniel, Skyler, Tommy and their friends - you will have great team mates and good competition.
And I always see that the ladies that play have a very good time - a lot of good sportmanship and honor on display. And no cursing!
I give Carnage a 11 on a scale of 10. They are great friends and family!
Paintball Atlanta - More fields, more organized, higher prices
DGS (Winder- before they moved) - Only Xball fields, about the same on everything else
Directions to the Field:
Check the site, they are dead on
Location - From my place it is great (10)
Facility - One step up from a trailer, cramped but you don't need much anyway. Didn’t really see a proshop of any kind. At the field it was just air. (8)
Safety/Rules - This is where I have a little problem with Carnage. I must admit that I showed up with my own gear, but no one covered ANY RULES. Once the game was over at the field, the "refs" yelled barrel bags, and then you could take off your mask until he next game started (5)
Prices - AWESOME. $25 for All day air, 500 rds of white box. You can pay a little more for upgraded paint. (10)
Fields (# and condition) - 3 I think, as they were not well marked off. 1 speedball and 2 woods. While I was there we only played speedball. (8)
Staff - Super friendly. (9)
Refs - nice guys, did their jobs, but not organized (7)
A buddy and I wanted to squeeze a couple hours of playing before the bad weather hit. We choose Carnage as a place to test out for the day. First off, the prices were awesome. Check the website, and they are dead on. For $25 we got 500rds of White box, and all day air. For like $15 more you can get 1000rds, and 30 gets you a case. You can upgrade the paint for a little more as well. They had Xball silver and gold to upgrade to, which is slightly different from the website.
After paying, you have to head down a dirt path with shaky stairs. Not exactly fun when you are hauling your all your gear. Got ready and went to chrono. Here is another issue, the guy who I think worked there said anything around 300 is good. I usually play at places that are 280 or less, so to hear that around 300 was good was a little interesting. On to the field to play……. We got there as they were finishing a game. We waited for about 25 minutes for 2 people to come back from the staging area. Not exactly organized, most of our time for the day was wasted standing around. One of the refs did take this time to blow up another bunker and clean up all the spent paint. Once everyone showed up, game on. We played like 3 games back to back, and then everyone headed to the staging area. The refs were just waiting around for people to show up, so my buddy and I played a little one on one. Both refs watched the game and got in and checked for hits.
Overall Carnage gets an 8 from me. It is not as “nice” as some other places, organization could be better, but the refs were cool and did there jobs (there were 4 refereeing our games). Prices are great. So if you are a playing that would rather play mostly woods, with a little speedball mixed in, this is the place for you.
Ultimate kinda pricey but pretty good. Long drive for me
Basically i went to Carnage with my friend. It was the first time i ever played. It was fun it wasn't strict or anything. First looks make you think its an old place struggling to pay the rent but its not. On saturdays there are usually 20+ people there. The first thing i noticed were the refs were nice and were ready to help you out whenever. They werent strict at all either. After going to other paintball fields i have seen strict. zthey basically asked you what you wanted to do. I gave it a ten because everything was basically good there.
I checked on PBR for other woodsball fields around my area and found Carnage. We were the first ones to show up on Sunday, 12:00 p.m. They had a big group that day, something like 45 or so. We had to wait around until 1:30 before we got to play the first game. They were very unorganized when it came to getting the group ready to play. They put us walk ons on the back burner until they had the group squared away. This kind of pissed me off.
When we finally started playing I was not so sure about their fields. They seemed very small. After about the third game I started to figure out the fields which helped out a bunch. By the end of the day I felt like I had complete control over my game and strategy.
The difference between Carnage and Nitro is the field size. At Nitro you can either be in the action or not. At Carnage you are in the action all the time, which I liked very much.
With all that said here are my comments:
Fields are small but keeps up the action all the time
Not organized with groups
Great field paint
Very economical pricing
Overall I would highly recommend playing Carnage. Prices are very economical and it is a lot of fun.
V.R. only one ref per game and cost too much for the crap Field paint. too many tourney players.
When i first went to carnage i was not impressed with the location but when i went into the small proshop i was very surpised that the people there were so friendly and helpfull. the prices were amazing 25$ For rental marker mask all day air and 500 paintballs(kinda crappy though but u can buy better). the refs were very helpful . they had like 4-7 refs a game. and they would always help new players. good mixture of new and intermediat players along with some tourny players. the have 3 fields a woodsball castle and a spool(speedball).
overall i give this feild a 9 . it would be a 10 but i think they should add more fields.
hop on to 575 take the woodstock exit. drive a couple of miles until you see a sign for Hames road (it's an intersection with a light and there is a dealership on the right). when driving on the road it'll fork. stay on the left. keep on going. it'll be on the left. the sign is not huge so pay attention.
my first time playing paintball and this place was perfect. it's cheap and convenient from where I live and the ppl are nice. the fields are good. For $35 I had the marker, mask, 1000 paintballs, and lunch. can't beat that. the ref's were good and very helpful. very enthusiastic about the game which helps players get into the game. I plan on going back soon.
Ultimate: way too competitive, all speed-ball except a few fields, but good prices
"BE WARNED" 10 year old spoiled kids with $1000 pro-level guns
I moved to Georgia about a year ago and have been looking for a good/decent woods field around the Roswell area. I played at Ultimate but I didn't like the environment. It's was like everyone was there to win, not have fun. (and the spoiled kids with $1000 guns!!!!!ahhh!)
when u first miss the sign hidden behind a tree like shrub from one, you realize that this is either a really bad field or a true woods-ball place. You pull into the dirt driveway and see the legendary shack. The owner is one off the nicest/helpful owners i've ever met at a field. He doesn't try to rip you off!!!!!!! $25 bucks for everything and u get some paint. He helped me get the best combo for my wantings. They also sell new and decent used stuff for non-rip off prices.
After registering for 32 seconds, you walk down the stair to the fields. You realize it's a great woods-ball field. There's a little table area to put your stuff and the filling station. There's a swamp, castle, and speed-ball field. There was over 30 people and only 2 refs when i went so we used the castle and swamp level as one. Speed-ball area had overgrown grass (knee height) but I don't care cause I wasn't there for that. The refs were the best. They tell you the best strategy and the good/bad spots. Some of the refs built the fields so they know their stuff.
The bottom line is that if you're looking for a fun, cheap woods-ball field that's all about having fun go here without a doubt. If you're looking for a speed-ball, competitive field don't go here.
10 out of 10
Great location that's convenient from Marietta, right off Jamerson road. It doesn't really stand out from the neighborhood it is located in, so keep your eyes open!
I have lived about 2 miles from Carnage for 5 years now and I never knew it. They don't really advertise. I tried it out a little over a month ago and I was blown away! Such a great place was right in my backyard and I had been taking the trip down to Arkenstone to get robbed blind.
The refs are all there to make sure you have fun. I have been to ther places were the refs acted like they were at work and couldn't wait for the time clock to ring. On any given day you will have off duty refs showing up just to play on their day off. That has always impressed me. They pay attention to the fairness of teams and try to keep groups together if they possibly can. For example, yesterday my 4 friends and I wanted to play on the same team because two had sprained ankles and would have to take it easy. The refs knew that we had some good esperience and so they pitted us against double the amount of players that were new. After we won the first game, they called us together and made sure everyone was happy with the teams. We all were, and the noobs took us out the next game. The refs are constantly walking around during the match, encouraging the newer players to move and giving them advice.
Also (you parents read this, I am a parent myself, and this concerns me) the refs are extremely safety oriented. They watch for the morons who lift their mask during the game or forget barrel socks and are on them like hawks. I don't think I have once spotted an unsafe act before a ref was already screaming, "Get that mask down now!" and running for the culprit. On another occasion, my friend tripped and fell and the ref was standing over him and halting the entire game before anyone knew he was actually down.
Prices are very nice as well. 25 bucks gets you field fee, all day air any gear you need (I bring my own marker, but I usually rent a podbelt) and 500 paintballs, after which you are free to buy theirs at a reasonable price or use your own. 10 bucks more to upgrade to a full-auto capable marker.
The only drawbacks to the field is the fact that the venue is a little rough and the speedball field is a little too low. If you have a passenger car the parking lot has to be taken slowly because it is bumpy and the check in shack is a bit stuffy..but, hey, you are only in it for 2 minutes. The speedball field is constructed with spools that aren't very high, so us bigger/older guys have to either take a knee or bend real low, which makes it tough to be speedy. the woodsball fields are extremely nice and well balanced, though.
take a right out of kell highschool's buss road and keep going and take the last left before the first intersection you reach.
Carnage is a nice place to go. Although it may be a little run down who cares the people who work there are more thain nice and they will do just about anythign you ask. They are very strict about saftey and will give you a warning about it but if you take your mask off before the reff tells you too more thain once you may bee thrown out because its a big concern of theres. If you like woodsball I would say this is the best place in georgia to go but if you like speedball they only have one course and its not always up. Other thain not much speedball the woodsball courses are very good. Take the caste feild for example its a very well balanced feild that can fit anywhere from a 1v1 to a 6v6. Overall carnage is a fun place to go if your looking for a fun time or a fun birthday. I give carnage a 7 only because its a little run down and there is basicly no speedball and I never give out a 10 if i give you a 8 than your doong a just about perfect job and have a perfect place but nothings perfect.
