What can you say about Wayne's World, It's H-U-G-E! 100+ acres, for scenario games it is truly awesome. You have not played paintball until you are in the middle of a firefight for sinkertown with 100 guns blazing away on EACH team, pure adrenalin.
I have played in 8 scenarios at Wayne's World starting in 1994(Different location) , each one has been better than the previous. The field is constantly being improved.
As to regular weekend play, only went once, on one of their monthly FREE days, yes that's right FREE, free Air, Free Field Fee even Free equipment rental if you need it, all you need to do is buy paint. And it was a lot of fun.
Safety however is something that needs to be improved, I am a big believer in never, never removing your goggles while on the playing field, but I was shocked to see during the Free weekend the Refs instructing players to go ahead and remove their goggles in between games, even though we were still on the playing field, in fairness they did instruct everyone to lay their guns down on the groud first, but I still think this allows a behaviour to set in where it is okay to remove your goggles when you think it is safe. To me it is much better to simply say, if you are on the field, your goggles are on. no ifs, ands or buts.
Was very happy to see at the Grand Finale scenario this past December, ref's walking the field and randomly chrono players, this is exactly what is needed to discourage cheaters. Well that and more Ref's. On a related note back in the early days of paintball when the speed limit was 325 fps, you didn't see too much wiping going on, probably because it hurt to get shot, and you would usually make an audible "Ouch" when hit, thereby removing any doubt as to whether or not you got shot. I guarantee you if speeds were allowed to go back to 325 with today's rates of fire, not too many people would be willing to just take a hit, wipe it and continue playing.... ooops this is a field review. Sorry
Wayne's World is a Benchmark field, one that you measure other fields against, it is large, it has tremendous varieties of fields. The Refs are good, and the prices are outstanding. I highly recommend checking this field out if you are in the area, and I consider the Grand Finale kinda like Mecca to the muslims, every paintball player should make it to one of these games at least once in their lifetime, you will not be disappointed.
I would give it a 10 if they tightened up their safety protocols a bit...
I play scenario games a lot infact im on a scenario team. Ive been going to this feild for over 2 years. Through out the two years ive been on the same side each game, and only seen the other teams base ounce. The reason every time u leave ur base u always get into a major firefight. This feild is awsome an d i love it. Im going back on April 22-23 and i hope i can see the other base this time.
