My first experience playing paintball was with this field, and I have only ever played at one other field, which compared to Skirmish Hampshire, isn't even worth naming (even if I could remember its name...)
Greeted at the beginning of the day warmly by friendly staff, made even warmer by the complimentary tea and coffee for free! We were quickly signed in and kitted up with all our clothing equipment; coveralls, hoods, and googles (that were actually comfortable!). They also provided body armour, once again for free, for women and children that were also playing.
Not long after, we were taken to the mornings "safe area", where we were sitted in a roomy environment for a short while, whilst listening to one of the safety marshalls giving us a short speech as to what they expected from us, and what we could expect from them. The safety points were delivered understandably, clearly, and at points with humour, giving it a joy to listen to, rather than a chore.
All very excited after this, we couldn't wait to start shooting people!
We had 5 games in the morning, all very enjoyable and different in terms of tasks, keeping the games fresh and of good variety. We then went back to the main building which we were signed in in the morning, and had a nice lunch, a whole pig roast, which was delicious to say the least!
In the afternoon, we played another 5 games, once again all original and of good variety, keeping us pleased with different tasks to complete, instead of getting bored with the same scenarios.
The safety marshalls were excellent throughout the day, giving clear instructions, and answering any questions in a friendly manner.
At the end of the day, and it came to pay for our itchy trigger happy fingers, the shock to the wallet wasn't as bad as expected! An added bonus was that this year (2005) is an anniversary year for them, and to celebrate they have £10 off all packages! Great value for money.
Overall, a fantastic paintball field, that I will definately be returning to in the very near future. I could happily recommend this site to any of my friends.
I haven't played others in area but have done others in UK.
When we arrived we were met by the site manager, who welcomed us and got us signed in and kitted up (good quality masks and coveralls all round).
After a short wait for other players to also get kitted up, we walked to the mornings game field.
When we got to the 'safe area' one of the site marshals gave a safety talk about paintball which was very informative to both newbs and the repeat visitors.
There were about 50 players on our game split into two teams (red & white) with three marshals.
Then to the games, we played five in the morning. These included two games at Chopper (an attack defend game), Bunkers (two flag grab), Bridge (take the bomb over the bridge to the enemy base) & Mincer (one flag game). I really like the Bridge game as both teams more aggressive team members meet in the middle and shoot it out, loads of paint and lots of screaming!
Lunch was a whole pig roast! YUM!
In the afternoon we played five more games. First was VIP an odd type of game where one team chose a player to be the 'VIP', this person has to be moved to the oppositions base with out getting 'killed'. The other team has to 'kill' the VIP. If the 'VIP' dosn't reach the base or isn't 'killed' the game's a draw. Then we played Forts two wooden buildings about twenty meters apart with other buildings between, there are fire bells in the tops of the forts, ring to win. Jurassic was next (a two flag game). VIP again the other way round. Finally a Resurrection on Hickstead (a single flag game). My favorite in the afternoon I liked Forts the best as it's all shooting and dashing for cover.
Then the nasty bit, having to settle up for all the shooting. this wasn't quite as bad as I had expected as this year is there twentieth anniversary so they are giving a £10 reduction in all their prices!
I can't praise the site staff enough, they were there when you needed them and out of the way when you didn't .
We'll be going back again soon.
Delta force was good but the marshals almost didn't exist and quad squad doesn't exist anymore
they where ok though
I had been going paint balling 3 times before here and I enjoyed it but this place is the best! They are very professional have good prices for rentals (equipment, inferno field marker and 600 paintballs £30($45?)). the marshaling is very good and they enforce the rules well, although there are wipers that get away with it too much but what do you expect with people who come for parties, stag nights etc. I have recently bought my own marker and wondered about using it there as many other places wont let you, but they where surprisingly happy for me to use my own and they will fill Co2 for FREE!. Overall I could happily go there every week if i could
