Period of Field Use:
March 31st, 2007
Other Fields in the Area:
none in west palm beach
First of all the saftey at this field needs some tweaking. I noticed no one except for me and my buddy even bothered the check their FPS, and yes people we're shooting HOT! Regulars seemed pretty cool, that seems to be what made it a good time. Was kind of pricey for cheap paint (4 out of 10 don't bust)! Over all it was a good time, Fields were nice, I wanted to check out the bus area but most of the players seamed to prefer the rec ball and town area, which were fun. Lots of good players, But a lot more pretenders. LOL :-) Like I said before it was a good time, but saftey is a big deal to me so that bothered me. Scale of 1 to 10 I give it a 5.
P.S. I didn't even know they had refs til I was leaving and saw one sitting outside the field talking to some other guys dressed in ref shirts. Never saw them in the field of battle.
Mikes Paintball, Mikes Paintball did not have a resting area, lack of refs.
Directions to the Field:
On southern Blvd.
I first played on this field and I thought the prices were ok.$15 for rec and woods ball and $20 for rec, woods and X-Ball.$20 for 500 balls, $30 for 1000 balls, $40 for 1500 balls and finally $50 for 2000 balls. The People ther are really nice and the refs are pretty cool. The field owners are cool too. They just had there first really big all day scenario game.It was pretty cool but could have been better with more organization, but overall the field is pretty organized and is getting better as time goes on.the Speed ball Fields are well set up and right nexr to them is a Woodsball field with an abandoned bus in the middle with some cool forts and bunkers. The X-ball field is my favorite..I perfer air ball than anything else but it is on nice green cut grass and the bunkers are well taken care of, though as much rest of the field is pretty much well taken care of.
Since this is the only field nere me, its the only field I can go to but I love going here, There next scenario game is in January 2006, oh and they have X-ball night games under nice big lights too on friday nights...you can play on the other fields to but since there are no lights back in the woods were they are you can't see a whole lot,(I don't like the idea of blind firing into pitch darkness with paintbals i spent money on) and since this being florida....there are ALOT OF FRIGGEN mosquitoes back there at night !!! lol

I am going to rate the field on the following categories: safety, cost, people playing, and overall field setup.
First the field setup, they have 1 x-ball field, 2 speedball fields side by side seperated by woods and in the back of the two speedball fields there is woods (woods field). I would say the field setup is good, the speed ball fields are setup pretty well but i am still alittle unsure as to how big the woods field is. The x-ball field we did not play.
Safety- For the most part everyone was very good about safety, barrel plugs or barrel condoms and always having their masks on. One time in walking to the back of the field there was a group of guys playing woods ball on their own and they were in a middle of a game and we were waiting close by for it to finish, but we were "in the game".
Cost - this is probably one of the better parts of the field, gun rental, all day air, mask and 500 paintballs is 50 bucks which is good i feel. If you have your own gear then its 15 dollar field fee for speed ball and woods ball and 20 if you want x ball too. Also the prices for paint are fair 50 for a case, diablo heat. check the website for other prices. They fill up to 4500 psi and co2 fills.
People - everyone playing was fair, good attitudes and played by the rules. The one thing i found different from playing at other fields i have been to is that there is absolutely no organization at all. people at the field basically had to organize their own game and the honor system was in effect, i think towars the end of the day there was a ref or 2 but they did not play an active role in reffing the games, compared to other fields i have been to. (palm bay last year, a couple fields in NY, and CT) so this is either a good or bad thing that you can organize your own games, but i rather have structure and refs controlling things. Another things i found strange was that there was alot of people out there but everyone was having their own game, instead of just all playing one big game, again organization.
I will go back to this field bc its the only one here and i think eventually things may turn around and they get better with organization. Also they said they have bought 50 acres in PSL and that should be opening up in the near future. Hope this helps anyone considering playing.
Safety: The referees there make sure you put your mask on in the field area and a condom/plug in. There is a 10 foot minimum shot rule in the rec area only, but the refs don't really ref much in the rec area. The refs talk the talk, but don't walk the walk. (I'll get to that in the refs section)
Fields: There are 4 fields.
---------Xball-----------I have not played on yet.
---------Woodsball---Is a bit overgrown and the boundaries are not marked well. I don't play ---------------------------woodsball so I don't have much of a woodsballer's view on this one.
---------Rec #1--------Consists mainly of spools, tires, and fences. On this field the bunkers ---------------------------are a bit more spread out than Rec #2. I find it a great field for rec.
---------Rec #2--------Consists mainly of fences and Pepsi barrells. On this field the bunkers are closer together, which is great for bunkering people. The downside is bunkering is not allowed, but sweeping around the side/flanking is an alternative as long as you're 10 feet away.
Prices: There is a 15 field fee for rec/woods and 20 if you want to do xball too. Unlimited air is included in the field fee. The paint is 50 for a case and its field paint only. I find that their paint is egg-shaped and will make your gun shoot everything but your target. Their paint is not very good. I have found paint for 40 a case that shot 3 times better. Rentals are 50 and they come with air, 500 balls, a BT gun or a 98 custom, mask, and hopper.
The refs tell people to not shoot in the staging area, and they tell you to put your mask on when entering the field. The problem is, I was there and one ref/safety staff shot another in the arm in the field area with no mask on from like 2 feet away, on accident. The funny thing is that just a minute before that, the same ref made a kid put a barrell plug in and safety on. The refs don't really do paintchecks on the rec fields, so usually an eliminated player will volunteer.
Players: The other players were all respective and did not light people up. A few little kids came on the field with their dads and it was their first time, so everyone made sure that noone would bunker them or light them up. People called the hits every time I think. I don't recall seeing any people wiping. One guy was shooting a bit hot, but he was nice about it because he hadn't realized it and he turned it down.
Overall, aside from the cheapo deapo paint that costs 50 a case, this paintball facility is decent, and is good if you go with people you know.
They closed but the store still is great for any paintballers needs :)
Directions to the Field:
On okechobee n southern
by palms west
head towards the way that is woods
not towards 441
about 3-4 miles on the right hand side is the store and field
Safety: A waver is signed by any new player and is required to be filled out every month.
No fights or ne thing like that happens around there. When shot no body will continue to shoot at you on purpose.
Fields hours of operation: open on weekdays (nobody really goes Then) open from 9 in that morning and doesn't until you leave. I think they have night ball till like midnight on the weekend.
The prices: the money isn't to bad its about 53 bucks for a case of 2000 which is cheaper to buy instead of individual bags. !5 bucks to play woods or rec ball and 20 to play x-ball. I prefer rec. i have been thinking of switching over to the darkside. lol They have got food and chips and drinks for cheap. last time i was there we had 4 pizzas delivered to there.call dominoes in wellington and tell them to deliver to hot shots.
service/proshop: there's not much in the way of gear there but they do treat you well and may order parts you need. they have elbows and tanks and hoppers. they rent out guns and supply all the necessary supplies for a fulls day worth of fun.the staff is so fun.the refs make as fair as calls as they can so there alright.
The store is fine.they have putt putt and a driving range if dad is just hanging out. or there is a large tv with games sometimes and more channels than you can imagine.
food: not much variety there's alot of ice cream soda and i believe they grill hot dogs sometimes. but like i said you can always get delivery
Recommendation: i highly recomend this place to beginner or expert paintballers. i love it ill probably be there this weekend.
Everyone has seen the driving range and putt-putt on southern. Its the same place. poor golfers have to put up with us. LOL.
There is enough safety to keep you from worrying about getting hurt but its not like they overdue it.
There are 2 rec fields which are ok. They are good mainly for 5 man or maybe 7. More and you get 2 to a bunker. Pay the extra $5 and play xball if you are experienced. It is a great field with the best grass ever. You can get good slides and theres no rocks or sticks to hurt your knees on. I wish they would add a nice and big 10-20 man rec field or just merge the 2 small ones. No hyper ball fields :(
There are good hours here. 10 to dusk. I wouldn't go until 12 because you should eat at home and thats what alot of other people do. They also have Friday nigh xball from like 6 till midnight. That=SWEETNESS!!!
$20 bucks for xball and air. only $15 if you want to use the rec but xball is alot funner. Its supposed to be field paint only but most of the people really don't care because the vipers and v2 use there own paint and the other players don't care. Field paint is $50 and it sux. It is rubbery and never breaks. If you have to get it though buy the case!!! You may think I'm crazy saying to spend $70 that day but it truly is a better deal because if you buy 500 its $25, 1000 is $30, and 1500 is $40.
Mainly elimination games. You know the field routines.
IDK what this is really asking but the people there are pretty clueless about paintball except the refs and the guy filling up the C02 and fixing the rental guns. Just ask another player nicely because i bet they know more.
Theres not really one there, just the place to rent guns and buy paint.
Very very limited. Only like 2 guys there that work in the "proshop"
Their was like one ref to all the fields. Most of the time a player or 2 will sit out in ref because reffing is fun.
Most of the players are pretty good. The ones that aren't great have DMCs and 2000 balls a game to go through. The PB Vipers and V2s are there and they have some skills. Do not attempt to play if your scared to get shot because they pump out about 1500 balls each a game if the other team last that long. With skill you can get them out so it still keeps it fun.
Theres indoor restrooms and mini golf and a driving range.
Not that much, there are drinks and stuff. You can go get some taco bell or something like that a little ways down the road (about 10 to get there, 10 to get your food, 10 to get back).
This place is great. It is for good players which keeps alot of Nobie's out and it is real fun. Paint cost alot for being garbage and the refs are limited. The people are friendly so you have a good time.
A lot around, ECE, Mikes when it was open, Hurricane, Waynes, Orlando, Kissemmee?
The field is good, grassy and soft. Shade around, OK prices and air. Some limited food and drinks are available. Everyone is very nice and are always willing to help. But staff numbers are limited.
Safety is OK, nets are a mess. Most know when to have the masks on and barrel condoms on but it's very loose, many people are in the field area shooting with no masks on. They are not playing but are shooting, chrono area is also loose and no one checks.
The staging area is just dirty and messy, stuff all over, palm frons, cans, etcÖ bunkers leak during the day and no one maintains it, but you can do it yourself as the tools are there.
The refs need some help, they try but the owners must be cheap because you only get one ref and no way can they cover the field properly. But they do try but one can't do the job. NO way can a ref. call paint on a player at the other end of the field.
The home team PB vipers take over the field when they are their. You have to stand up to them, they are mostly nice guys but when you have a lot of them your just out of luck. They play tourney style and light up too many walk-ons and always want to stack the sides and practice together. What good are 5 against 10 when the five can easily rip up the ten, if you play you know what I mean! You can understand what the team players want, but it will chase off the retail paying players
Many, many of the players are great and come from all over the area and even South America. Good people and good times, just watch your own safet and donít let the teams stack the sides!
Hopefully the owners will catch on before itís too late.
Hotshots is a great field. They have an awesome X-ball field and the people that play there are great to play with and are excellent competition. Their prices our mediocre but not over the top. If your not in to X-ball like I am they have 2 great Rec Ball fields and a Woods ball field. Overall its just a fun and safe place to play.
The only other field I have played at is the one behid the Regal and it does not even compare to hotshots.
Hotshots is a reaally cool field. The people are very nice there and the fields are excellent. The best field there is the X-ball field I think. For a box of paint it is 50.00 dollars. and the balls are really good. to get in it is 15.00 dollars and to play at the X-ball it is 20.00 dollars. it is good to go there if you are just getting itno paintball and you dont have a gun you can rent one from there and everything else you needt to go with it including admission for only 50.00 dollars. For the ones who dont want to play they have a little house where you can get drinks and a driving range. Over all it is just a good field.
Space Coast ( No Good )
Old River ( Very Nice )
This field is an amazing field. the employees are nice, the regulars are great to build experience with and to learn where your going wrong. the refs are also very helpful when it comes to pointers on how to improve your game. the field paint is very nice and its set at a great price as well. they carry many of the common parts that you would need to fix your gun at the field as well. the grass field is amazing. there is very little that will get inside your marker because of the grass. the x-ball field is set up in different configurations almost every weekend. the bunkers are kept very clean and are usually filled just right.
