ok well this place is kinda a far drive for me. My first impression were that the fields themselves are really nicely kept. Grass is amazing, almost perfect. the staging area has alot of dirt and when a gust of wind comes by you will probably get it in your eyes but get over it. Some refs are horrible at their job (one named austin sucked ass). they got games going as soon as a group wanted to play but the thing that would counter that is that there is only two airball fields (but they are really nice). If you have the chance check out this field and stop in one of their proshops. Im only giving this place a nine because they only have 2 good fields, but as soon as they get more it will be the best field in florida.
Orbital, Gator, and a few others that I have not tried.

You can find them here. http://www.kohnsports.com/
This field has to be one of the best that I have played. I have played quite a few times here, and it just keeps getting better. I am mostly a woodsball player, but about an hour or two before the field closes we usually play a little airball, or x-ball. They continue to work on thier woodsball field, and they are willing to take any suggestions that you might have. Myself and some friends are helping them to make some bunkers for the woodsball, and also to help clear out the thorn bushes. The owner is a really cool guy, and easy to talk to. If you have an issue then he will do his best to help you out. For instance I brought my marker. (A-5 w/ a few mods) and the double-trigger wouldn't work so he gave me one of the rental a-5s and let me use it the entire day for free. We play here every two weeks. Hope to see you there, and recommend this field to all who play airball, woodsball, or x-ball.
I would to start by saying this is the best field I have attended and it will only get better from this point. There are so many reasons I feel this way about the field so I will name just a few: Staff, Refs, Field conditions and Prices. I will give a few comments on all subjects.
Safety: They are very strict about barrel bags and masks. You can not use a barrel plug. Plugs have been known to come out and be just as hazardous as a paintball. That is why they require that you use a barrel bag. No exceptions.
Fields: Currently they have two awesome air-ball fields. They have a NPPL and a X-Ball field. They are going to be adding like two more very soon. They are just waiting on the grass to grow in more before they set up the fields. They have one more of each field ready to set up once the ground will permit them to set it up. The grass was in good condition and they are not ruts and holes and stuff for you to trip over and injure yourself. The woods are dense and great and challenging to play. They have plenty of room and will be expanding the woods field. They have like 90 acres a lotted for just woods-ball fields.
Prices: They have great prices on their paint and they also have also on their rental equipment. The food was good and at a very reasonable prices for the food and beverages.
Proshop: They have a knowledgeable staff that is always willing to assist you to get your gun running. Adn if they can not they will ask a person that may be able to assist you. They have a full shop off site that has everything you will need to be ready to ball.
Players: They were very varied in experience. You had newbies to experienced guys out there having a good time together. The knowledgeable players were willing to assist you to elevate your game.
Overall: I would recommend this field to anyone that loves paintball or just wanted to try it out and see if they like the game. If you come you will be back. That I can assure you. They will provide you with an experience that will leave you wanting more. I give them a 15 on a 10 point scale. Come and you will see that you will agree in the end. With some more time I believe they will have the elite paintball field in all of Florida. Come and see for yourself and you will not be disappointed.
Edit: The field was let go by a different manager and has been taking back by the original manager. And they were having some legal issues from the county and some lady with issues that did not want paintball anywhere in Florida. The field is improving all the time. They currently are running between two to three airball fields at a time and the still have the woodsball which they have added to since the new manager came back. All this place needs is more woodsballers to get together and come out in groups and spread the word. The airball fields are currently supreme and they ahve much better refs currently then they have in the past. SO this is an awesome place to play and just needs the support to keep it going and allow the owners to improve the place.

Get off I-75 at the Apollo Beach Exit 246, stay right
Right on 301
Left onto Big Balm Road (CR672) for 6.1 miles, field on the right hand side.
114 Acres of pure paintball heaven. There are currently two official airball fields composed of an 06 xball and 06 nppl field (official size, layout and bunkers). Soon to be 2 xball and 2 nppl fields. With future plans for 4 more for a total of 8 air ball fields. The grass at this field redefines the term superman slide. This field is home to the Deadly Venoms, so you will always have a team of speed ballers to play against.
Woods ball is tremendous, I haven't played it yet because it's not my thing but I've walked it and you could get lost out there. They supply Tippmann A5 with nitro for their rentals, all in like new condition if not brand new.
Hardly ever a line on the air fill stations. They even weigh your co2 fill to ensure a proper fill and not guess. Paint prices are comparable to internet prices and they usually have a large selection to choose from.
THis field will become one of the best, if not the best field in Tampa. When completed it will have 8 airball fields and who knows how many woodsball fields. They have the best grass i've seen at a field other than major tournaments and the woods fields are great. The ref's are great ( they will do paintchecks etc. ) I love how they have three fill stations for air because it means no lines. ( Orbital ) The fields are great, the staff helpful, the prices good and just a great field all around.
All i can say is thank goodness for this field! I think its a breath of fresh air for a new field to be in the immediate area. Other fields such as gladiator and orbital have gone downhill and do not really care about their customers. X-ball and Nppl field formats are what are offered for speed ball. The woods were not developed when i played so i didnt try the woods as of yet. There were a group of about 10 woods players playing in the woods games and just about every tent had people underneath using them to stage their gear. I had a great time playing and I had a grand time in both of their speed ball fields and look forward to seeing their woods develop in a matter of months. One of the owners was really nice and helpful to these two new kids who rented their A-5's and i played a few games with them which was cool. Cecilio's/C's dad was on the grill cooking up food so next time i play im surely gonna eat some of his good smelling food. Great field and good paint prices, nice guys like 'C' and Curtis at their oldsmar proshop make the experience only better. Granted they are new but i had a blast there playing with some guy ive seen at Break 50 and will be taking a group later on this next month to play. I recommend this field as they destroy orbital and gladiator. You need to play at this field!
CFP- The only plus about CFP in my mind right now is that their parking lot has grass, but Kohn's is doing something about the dust bowl.
Orbital- Does not compare in ANY way.
Ozzie's- Ozzie's is good but no X-ball, only no-name airball fields and little competition.
Directions to the Field:
Get off I-75 at the Apollo Beach Exit (Exit 246)
Take a right (go East), then go to 301 (take a right)
Take a left onto Big Balm Road, go 6.1 or 6.3 miles, and it's on the right hand side.
Safety- The referees and owners were on top of safety all day long- nobody went on the field without a mask, and no one came off without a barrel bag.
Fields- They only had two X-ball fields when I was there, and there are supposedly going to be eight once they're finished. From what I hear, they have ample woodsball space (over 100 acres) that is actual WOODS, not just some bunkers with trees around them.
Hours of Operation- Kohn's is open from 9am-5pm I believe, which is plenty of time, trust me. You'll play many games in whatever amount of time you're there.
Prices- Their prices are the best in central Florida. If you buy the field paint (they have several difference choies and prices), your entry is $20 which includes all-day air. Paint starts at $30-$32 per case and goes up to somewhere around $50. I got a case and a bag of whitebox and it actually shot pretty good out of my gun.
Rules- Rules were enforced all day long as well as safety.
Services- Right now there isn't a shop at the field but they're looking to get a building to stock the necessities that you'd need if a gun would go down and you don't have the parts to fix it.
Proshop- See services; otherwise they have two great shops in the Tampa area; one in Brandon and one in Oldsmar.
Staff- Gavin and Skylar are awesome people, they will get to know you and they remembered my face after I pitted for their team in PSP Orlando in April 2005.
Refs- The refs were awesome! There were at least four referees per field so that the games were well officiated and fair.
Players- All players had good attitudes, everyone is out there for good competition and fun.
Facilities- They had several port-a-potties instead of only one (Ozzie's and Orbital) for all of their players.
Food- They had a grill running all day long, and water was $1.00 a bottle. Hotdogs were $1.00 apiece too, but I'm not sure how much burgers and brats were.
OVERALL- I give this field a 10, only because there was nothing higher. They know they have some things to make up and after they do I believe Kohn's will be one of, if not the, best field in Florida.
orbital, but this place is so much better than orbital.....air-ball
This plae is a really good place to go. the people that own and work there are really nice.If your gun messes up like mine did, they will tell you whats rong with it.Even the refs are cool. One of them played against my friend. And unlike the orbital refs, these refs actually check you for apint orbital jus stands there and watched the game. And another thing is it's really cheap. If u buy paintball at the field your entry fee is only 20 dollars (which includes all day air) and the paint starts at 32 dollars. But the only thing that i dislikes about the field is that on the outside of the fields was dirt, so if u go paintballing on a windy day like we did the dirt is flying everywhere.
So if you want to go to a field that has x-ball and woodsball this is the place to go,
and i also heard that when the field is all finished they will have 8 air ball fields
What a refreshing experience I had at Kohn’s field. Finally, a clean facility, enough ref’s to properly officiate a game, 100+ acres of woodsball, 2 speedball fields, 6 porta-potties not one (Orbital) and COVERED staging areas…Lunch was available all day at reasonable prices and the people who work there are more than helpful.
Granted, Kohn has a long way to go. But the potential is there for this field to become a major powerhouse in the paintball industry. With so much room for improvement they can only go up.
I know for a fact that they plan on building bunkers and buildings soon for us woodsball guys, but I would rather play in woods alone than go back to that poor excuse for a field at Orbital.
My friends and I were ecstatic to see this field open. And I can’t wait to see where it goes from here.
