I have also played at P.A.G and Young guns. P.A.G is a solid field with pretty good staff. Young guns I'm not a fan of. Xcalibre is a solid field, with awesome staff and awesome paint.
Directions to the Field:
Follow highway 28 until your almost in Smoky Lake, then hang a left on highway 831 towards Boyle. You can't miss it, they have a nice big sign of the left side of the highway.
Review:
I was at Xcalibre for the first time on Saturday May 10th 2008. Right away I was blown away with their pro shop, its an underground bunker. Well kept, good prices, highly organized, super friendly and very knowledgeable staff.
The "home base" picnic table area has a nice big BBQ in it, full of propane and ready to go. The staff are quick to offer to move the BBQ to wherever you may need it. And if your dumb like me and forget your bbq thongs, they will run and grab a pair for you... that was a really nice surprise.
Rentals:
The rental guns are the Ben Tipmans, and I believe the barrels are upgraded. Heres the cool part though. If you would like to shoot a different or "better" gun, you can upgrade your rental. They have ak47 type guns and fun stuff like that, but they also have high end markers that you can rent too. So if you really wanna kick your buddies ass, you can go ahead and get a wicked speed ball gun.
Paint:
They have the best selection of paint around, and none of it is bad paint. The selection ranges from good paint to awesome paint.... no crappy stuff here.
Fields:
Best junkyard I have ever seen, best town I have ever seen, best world war 2 bunker field I have ever seen. Everything these guys do, they do awesome.
Refs:
The refs were up beat, positive, helpful, and courteous. I saw them working with a group of little teeny tiny kids. And they were great with those little guys. Very patient, very encouraging, and they did a great job of keeping the little munch kins safe. My group really loved the refs because they seemed to genuinely enjoy their job.
All in all it is an awesome place to play, non rushed, friendly, high quality, and competitive pricing and most of all FUN. I highly recommend this field.
I have played at PAG (decent a 6/10), Morinville indoor (not bad for indoor), Grunts (pretty good 8/10), and Young Guns ( as you have heard from others the only one that is close to Xcalibre in quality 9.5/10).
Directions to the Field:
At the turn off for Long Lake on highway 831 northeast of Edmonton about an hour.
Review:
This field has it all. Great fields, field marshals that offer great ideas for games but keep the focus on safety (at least the two I have had), unlimited field time and Co2/HPA, really good prices (the best prices if you get a membership), free BBQ area, excellent pro shop where everyone knows what is going on (with their rental equip as well as just about any other kind of marker/equip). As you can tell I was VERY impressed with this field and I will be getting a membership here this year for sure. An easy 10/10, would be 11 if I could.

WEM paintball field.....AMATURES
Review:
Well....I put up with making an account on my dial-up connection, just so I can make an review so if that doesn't say something about this field then this will:
The owners are awesome people, the fields are unique, the pro shop is pretty cool and I've gottan to know the people over trime so they give me deals every now and then. They order stuff in for you and the owners mother works at my school so she'll give me and my friends paintball stickers free every now and then.!!! Execllent Field 10/10
We got a tour of this course while it was still under construction and I immediately fell in love. We've got together a group of 10 to 16 guys and gone every year so far.
The areas are so different, unique, and well planned. I especially enjoy the town. They are also constantly improving the courses.
The staff is always great and the prices are pretty reasonable, the rental guns are great as well.
10 thumbs up

Period of Field Use:
Just once
Date There:
July 21st, 2007
Paintball Experience:
4 years
Other Fields in the Area:
QUEST FOR ADVENTURE - This place is a dump, has never seen any improvements what so ever, would recommend a farmers field with trees before ever going back to this place again, owner and his workers don't care about safety and definately don't care if they quote you a price and then charge you more the day you play because you will not get the difference in price back-believe me,its happened to more than 5 groups of people already.
Scream'n eagle paintball adventures[near cold lake] played there several times,BUT NEVER AGAIN - nice area but you cannot have a private party, stag or any other private function without having a minimum of 20 people, even with your private 20 person group, your private group will have many others you don't know included.
The owner of scream'n is a hothead jerk ,cries about having a need to rent out all his markers everyday thus not allowing smaller group functions, well guess what keith, small groups are a sign of the times for PRIVATE FUNCTIONS.Wanna play with markers that shoot curves around corners-play here !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Youngguns, would be a close 2nd to xcalibre as 1 of the best.
Review:
This place rocks,by far the best field in northern alberta.
Worth the extra drive!!!
Paint prices, rental prices, rental markers are all top notch compared to QUEST FOR ADVENTURE and SCREAM'N EAGLE.
Staff is always friendly and willing to help you out and make your paintball experince the best.
DEFINATELY the best place to play.

Review:
I have been watching this field grow for a couple of years and finally went to play it on Saturday. It was just me and my nephew(13 years old). First off parking is very good (fresh gravel). Staging area is awesome it is located out of the wind next to the proshop, it is gravel as well with picnic tables in the shade. The staff is very friendly and they try to have two ref's for the larger groups. All the ref's have radios so they can keep tabs on which fields are in use or if there is a problem they can radio for someone to bring something out so as not to slow up the game play. The town has about 40 buildings with towers and is laid out very well, they also have a air fill station there to save coming back to the proshop for refills. They kept tabs on all the minors via radios as well they enforced safety(goggles,plugs....). Their fields number around nine with lots of variety, their sup air field is the biggest I've seen( regulation size I'm told ). The proshop is well equipped and the prices are good. Their paint is stored in ideal conditions( cool and dry ) so the quality should be consistent. They staff is very eager to help and do their best to make your experience the best possible.
Hats off to this new field for all the work they have done and their future plans, you can feel the energy they put into their work. I would recommend this field to anyone looking for possibly the best field in Alberta. The only field that can even compare is Young Guns.
10 out of 10

cant miss it off hwy 831 across from long lake provincial park turn off
Review:
I can honestly say i havent been to a whole lot of courses but i must say X Calibre is the best I have been to by FAR. The courses are really great especially for woodsballers, with a military course, tires, a 30+ building town, kongo, and a deadwood course with lots of trees but this year they are getting two airball fields and leveling out the gound to put them on and also they are building a junkyard course that the plans for sound amazing. The staff is insanely nice and anything you need that you cant find in their newyly expanded underground pro shop theyll order in for you and give you a decent price on it too. I would definately check it out for yourself.

About 20 min south of Boyle, Alberta on Hwy 831... across the road from entrance to Long Lake Provincial Park
Review:
This is an awesome field!! And it is only getting better! They have only been open one season, but are doing an awesome job. Walter and Mitzi (the owners) are very friendly and knowledgeable. Prices are some of the lowest I've seen.
My favorite courses are the town and the trenches. There is also deadwood, the tires, kongo, and a decent speedball field.
They are in the process of expanding... they are building a junkyard, more airball fields, a castle, and expanding the town.
When they are done building, this may become the largest field in North America!
Xcalibre is the ONLY field in the area even worth Mentioning. I will not waste your time listing crappy fields.
Directions to the Field:
Along highway 831 directly across from Happys or Long Lake Provincial park
Review:
Right from when we walked down the hill to the bunker you can tell that this is setup VERY good. The paint is kept in an underground bunker and was in excellent condition. Next after we received adequate information about the packages (by a very nice Lady) and received our equipment they gave a very detailed safety meeting and did not mess around we all knew safety was a big priority at this field. The staff is great and knowledgeable. All the refs had radios and keep in contact with each other and asked us before they allowed others to join and explain exactly what skill level they were. The owners is a very nice people Walter replaced some paint that i dropped for free and MItzie was always smiling and ready to help. They have fixed many guns for lots of people and have a very extensive pro shop where they can get ANYTHING you want. IF they don't have it there they WILL get it.
Its a great field if you plan on playing there lots look at the memberships they are defiantly worth it. Stay tuned for more field updates more maps to come
