ICU indoor field is not a field for newbies but it is a great field for tourny players or juss players that have played for awhile. ICU is a fast action games. Games usually go for about a minute or so. That is 1 of the million reason it's awsome.
ICU indoor is what we call in Iowa a heated Pole Barn. It's nice in winter if your gun favors warm weather or the weather is wet and cold and unfriendly to paint. The staff is quite nice, it has a real bathroom with running water and cleaning stuff is avail.
Its main customers are tourney players keeping their edge in winter. The air bunkers boom when hit and the ranges are a bit close, so it s all a bit intimidating, but challenging, which is what an agressive player should like.
The only downside is the packed earth floor, which is like asphalt. Kneepads are essential and maybe elbow pads and gloves aren't a bad idea either. My knees were quickly bloody and only half the bunkers allowed standing.
Not recommended for newbies, though the staff will pull the tourney players off sometime to let newbies have a chance. I did one on one with an 8 yr old with his new Spyder and my new PGP. My Son in Law Wade also tried the PGP against him. We made his day. Otherwise we slugged it out with the tourney boys with our SA's.
i went there once for practice with huskerpaintball tourney players. it was fun the games were fair and thesup air field was awesome and so was the layout. i dont how good there other fields r but since i played their sup air only i have to give icu a good rating but not a perfect review since i havent been on their other fields
ICU is a pretty good field for tounament level players. The sup air inside is ripped on every bunker and the owner wont let u in if you have metal cleats on. Its a FPO field and there's an entry field too. Personnaly, i would rather cross the street and play at Action Jack's for free and have a nicer environment. I am a loyal ICU customer but their field needs to get better. Also, it needs lighting! it feels like your in a room with just one lightbulb thats giving you light.
Goods: ICU is a well maintained indoor air ball field. Bunkers are constantly wiped and the ground is clean. Decently ventilated. Refs are good. Have decent bathroom for a paintball field.
Bads: FPO and paint is expensive ($65 per case for bigball). Field is small. Players must degas gun when they walk off the field. Can't just put on a barrel plug. Only fill 3000psi. Renters have to wear pink masks.
this field is alright because u can play in the wiinter time. The first time i played there though i didn't have many paintballs and i was a newbie and i jusst had a horrible time. If u are a newbie, go to action jacks or the icu timber field because the indore field is scarry and it smells like crap for some reason. Action jacks is fun fun fun with there fields. This place is alright but i would only go there for tourny's or winter time.
Played at Action Jacks, which is right next to ICU.
Review:
Well, lets start with the good things about ICU:
-Indoor field with bathroom
-Nice field owner, he will help you with anything
-Indoor Airball field
-fun place to play if your looking for competition
Annnddd..... thats about it.
Well.... heres the bad.
-Its pretty slimy and muddy on the indoor field
-People are always smoking, they smoke right in front of this fan that blows the smoke throughout the entire building. If your a non smoker this is a pretty big problem. This one really bothers me.
-If your new, dont plan on getting it easy and just playing for fun, heres the reasons:
-The people who play there are die hard hardcore players, they play to win. You will rarely find any newbies playing, hardly anyone rents a gun. Plan on getting your butts kicked a few times unless you bring enough newer people to play on seperate teams.
-Sometimes the ref's are good, and most of the time they suck and are pretty darn lazy.
-Not a very friendly crowd sometimes. The group that plays saturdays are a little easier going, but on sundays the teams usually show up and you can expect some action.
-Its freakin messy in there, just telling you this so you can expect it when you go.
The rest are just little things, but hey, its a paintball field so I'm happy, not all fields are perfect, but I guess you could just say that this field is for the more "experienced" players and deffinetely not for the family fun goers.
