Only other field I've played at in Alaska is in the woods on Ft. Wainwright. Good woodsball field but to play speedball SPLATZ is where it's at.
Directions
to the Field:
From Ft. Wainwright front gate:

At the first stop light turn left onto the highway. Get over into the right lane as fast as you safely can because your gonna need to take that first exit to get onto Cushman St. At the light turn left. Once you go under the overpass take the left at the first light. You will see Splatz on the right hand side of the road just past the bar on the left side of the road. Its a big gravel parking lot behind the building.

From the other side of town:

Get onto airport way and head towards the base (away from the airport). When you get to the light at Cushman St. turn right. Follow directions above from Cushman
Review: The fields:

Splatz has two fields you can play on. Speedball and a pretty awesome scenario type field with old tires and big wooden spools ECT. Lets start with the speedball side. It's your pretty typical setup with a big laydown can in the middle. Its pretty symmetrical and the bunkers are staked down well. Sometimes later in the day the bunkers start loosing their air but when they do the owner, Kreig, will come out and fill it up. OK now onto the other side. As stated above it's a scenario type field made out of old tires, empty 50 gallon drums, ect, ect. In the middle of the field are two GIANT tires that are laying down and stacked on top of each other. It makes for some intresting spectating when you get two people chasing each other around the them. There is an old school bus in the back of the field for those interested in a defend the stronghold type game. Kreig also has a flag for some CTF action. All in all both fields are very well kept up and both are equally fun to play on. The netting is well kept up as well so spectators can watch safely.

The Services:

Splatz has both CO2 and HPA (3k) fill stations. Splatz has many different kind of rentals to choose from although they are pretty much all low-mid end mech markers. Kreig has paintballs on site but usually on Sunday he is running out (he buys them from one of the local paintball shops and they are closed on Sunday.) Splatz does not have a pro shop or a certified airsmith but there are usually some experienced players out there that can help you fix your marker and they do have some repair parts avalible.

The Staff:

The owner, Kreig, is one of the coolest guys I have met. In 2008 someone thought it would be a good idea to break into the building that he has out there and steal all of his equipment. He had to close up shop for a couple weeks but after he got everything replaced it was back up running better than before. I have to hand it to him and he gets major props for being the furthest north paintball field in the US (that I know of). He offers a great place to play at great prices considering how remote Fairbanks is.

Pricing:

Even though he is the only paintball field in Fairbanks he offers very competitive prices. If I remember correctly it was $10 for admission, $10 for all day air ($5 for one fill), and $10 for a rental (mask, hopper, marker, barrel cover). As stated above he buys his paintballs from one of the local stores and then sells it at the field for the same price as what he bought it for. That's right, his only profit comes from admission, rentals and air.

Hours:

Hours are from about 6pm Friday till dark, Sat+Sunday noon-dark. For those of you that haven't been to Alaska in the summertime it doesn't get dark so Kreig keeps the field open till everyone leaves. I have been out playing as late as midnight on some days.

Overall:

Splatz is a great, fun and SAFE place to play at. Kreig does everything in his power to provide the best paintball experience he can. It may be the only field in the Fairbanks area but this is by far the best I have played at. Come out and experience it for yourself!!!

Edits:
1 JUN 09- Corrected rental price.
