Herbie's paintball field in Fernley, Nevada. The two fields should not be compared because they are service two distinctively different types of players. Herbie's is outdoor, with lots of big fields and a lot of walking to and from the fields that will take most of your time. Whereas, Reno Indoor Paintball is an indoor field, hence the name, and is played on astro-turf with professional style air bunkers. Games are generally less than 5 minutes long, but you play so many that only the athletically conditioned are able to play all day long.
Directions to the Field:
Reno Indoor Paintball is located in Panther Valley just 2.5 miles North of UNR. From Hwy 395, take exit 72 and turn left at the light which is Panther Drive. Then take your second right which is Western and your first left which is Standard; RIP is located in the second warehouse on the left.
OMG! Safety is a priority at Reno Indoor Paintball. The referees are very helpful and do not tolerate unsafe activities.
The field is a tournament 3 versus 3 indoor field that is 150' x 50', played on astro-turf, and the obstacles are brand new 2010 National Professional Paintball League bunkers made by SupAir; they are awesome and in perfect condition.
The astro-turf is kept very clean and albeit slightly slippery, when you wear paintball cleats you stop and start on a dime without slipping at all. Of course, slippery is expected of indoor fields, because the sun can not dry the field like outdoor fields.
I can definitely say that Reno Indoor Paintball is cleaner than Chicagoland paintball in Chicago, Illinois and Bone Head Paintball in Las Vegas, Nevada.
RIP's hours are good by being open Thursday through Sunday and open way more than any outdoor field in Western States! They also offer the option to open for private parties even when they are scheduled to be closed. I called when just an hour away on a day they were closed, we are UNLV students that drove up to party after finals. The owner opened up and let us play for as long as we wanted.
RIP's rules are standard industry rules.
I noticed that RIP has a service technician on staff and performs in house warranty service on Bob Long, Dye, Proto, Ego, and other markers.
The warehouse staging area has both A/C and or heat dependent upon the weather.
RIP's paintball prices are in-line with other fields if not way cheaper and here is an example quote from Herbie's Paintball Park website gleamed today:
"General Prices: 500 Paintballs - $15.00 Cases Available Field Paint Only"
That is nearly $5 more than Reno Indoor Paintball charges per 500 paintballs, so not marked up like a previous post on this site stated.
Overall, we played for 3 hours and had a blast shooting each other up. We played 3 on 3 all night and omg it was way fun. The owner let us put our own ipod on the stereo so the music blasted throughout the field area, it was like having our own paintball field.
Amazingly good time and the next time we come to Reno, we are so gonna play here again!

Ok I have to admit I was a little excited to play here because it was close to town and I figured it had AC. I am sorry to say I was disappointed; field is only good for maybe 4 on 4 anything more you are limited. I was disappointed in the cost, compared to the value (AKA room to play) and it was Field Paint Only "FPO" with marked up prices on Karnage that added to the cost. The good thing about it is if you are a decent shot you donít need very much paint because the field is so small. So if you want to just work on close up to semi mid range accuracy with a friend it is good, but most of the people there were still spray and prey. This place is NOT kid friendly (13 and under) at all because of its size; my kids where very intimated, were on your average outdoor field they play well without much fear. If you have kids I would not recommend this field for anyone under 14, unless they have 2 good years of playing under their belt.
Overall it is a good place for tourney / active team players to practice one or two nights a week, if you can work with the pricing but I would not look at it as a family place unless you just rent the whole place for yourself and a couple of friends (8 people max).
Customer service given 3 stars, Most of the staff was nice, a couple of them were very arrogant, to some degree that comes with paintball.
Quality of fields: only 1 field not fields, very slippery (be careful not to slip wrong) spectator area small)
Fun / Experience: gave a one as my visits where for the kids and they didnít enjoy themselves due to size of field.
Herbie's paintball games, it's an outdoor field that is much bigger but at an hour drive time? Give me a small indoor close to my pad any day!

First let me say.....Finally! Indoor in Reno whoo hoo!
O.k. now we can get on with it. They have one reg. three man air ball field. Clean turf that they are very diligent keeping tclean and safe.
Safety is rule one with the owner.
They have a lot of tournament and league play. This means that there is usually a high "jersey" presence there. But everyone is nice and friendly and they always try to keep it fair. They try and keep the teams balanced both with numbers as well as skill.
On site very knowledgeable gun tech/airsmith.
Field paint is Karnage and it is field paint only. But at $10.00 entry including air and $40.00 a case there really is not much to complain about here. They also have a deal where you can pay $200.00 and buy a 1 year pass which gives you entry and air unlimited for a year.
Thier rentals are very reasonable and range from your standard tippman rental to high end matrixes with rotor loaders.
One very cool feature if you go play here go in the evening. After the sun goes down you may request a "night" game. This is very cool because obviously they kill the lights but they also turn on black lights and strobe lights. Very fun!
Over all a very good field and quality people.
Thank you R.I.P.
The only reason I don't give this field a ten is the size. They want to expand and open another field when this happens ten all the way.
