Well, at first, when my friend told me we were going to a novice, i was a little concerned about how it was going to turn out. We were joking around about how the balls would just bounce off you. Weeellll, we were right. The FPS is set to 230, which isn't really enough to break a ball on someone each time. I got hit about 12 times in 3 hours and not a single ball broke on me.(but I guess I was lucky)
I liked the refs there. They were helpful, and they're saftey lesson was only about 2 minutes long. They made us do some fun games, and the better players were pitted against the rest of the players near the end (about a 1:10 ratio).
The place is pretty big, which is nice, because if you have a lot of players there, they aren't cramed together. However, they're props are limited to plywood bushes, and a straight line of 'houses' which sucked cause they had sooo many holes, that you'd get pegged in the head if you walked by one.
For thoses starting out paintball, like myself, this is a pretty nice place to go. Everyone is nice, if you have a b-day there, paint is 10$ cheeper (35$ for 500), and 'sherwood forest' is a good place for a little speed ball! So I give this feild a 7 out of 10 because it's better than some place and worse than others. I hoped this helps you out!
*edit* now in where renegade was, Hal (kitchener pb) has opened speedball there, the prices are awesome
Directions to the Field:
Provide times for new players, intermediate players and pro's
They got rid of the gravel floor
They made an awesome castle
Paintballs are $10 for 90 (why not 100?)
Kinda dark in the arena
Not open to game suggestions
This is a great field for any experience level, though it's more novice-intermediate.
Friday is hosefest, which means cheap paint, lots of pros and electronics allowed.
I know many people have been wondering about the new speedball arena, and i found out where it is. It's in the old renegade paintball building in Guelph. They're ready to open, but they are just waiting to get safety checked.

alright, i recently moved to guelph for school and have been checking out any paiontball fields in the area. my residence put together this paintball thing and it was at the arena, so i went. in all honesty, on that night i just had an OK time. i mean everything was good, prices were about average, field was really clean, refs were ok. but i didnt have that great of a time, but i still enjoyed it. i went back to give it another shot this friday for their cheap night, and let me tell you, wow was i wrong...this place is awsome. im pretty sure anything i didnt enjoy about the first time was due to the fact that there was a lot of first timers in the res group. the refs first off were awsome. always in the thick of things doing paint-checks and everything a ref should do. the games were incredably diverse, i dont think we played anything more than once (except maybe speedball) the players there (with the odd exception) were great, skilled, honest players who were just there for the love of the game. the prices on this night were really good. 25 bucks for 500 balls. the one thing i felt put this field over the top, oher than the refs, was the cleanlyness of the field. the walls werent too grimy, and you could easily get tracktion on the floor. it was carpet i think. they did have a mercy rule, which i dont particularly like, but its good for beginners. i dont know a whole lot about the hours, on friday it was 6 until midnight. rules are standard. people behind the counter were fast and helpful. facilities are pretty nice, the field is great, staging area is large and has a bunch of tables. proshop, from what i saw was pretty small, just a few things here and there.
overall i gave this field an 8/10 (based on their scale of 5 being average) and while it wasnt perfect, it was close. i had a great time (mind you it was on a 'hardcore friday') and will definitly be returning on many fridays in the future
Well I have been playing at this field for just over a year. It has been a good year to be there as they have gone under some changes for the better.
Overall I have had a really good time playing there. The staff are top notch, helpful and friendly. The reffing is good and safety is always strongly maintained and enforced. There is very limited downtime between games. There is a large number of different games played and none of them last for more than 5 minutes which ensures a quick turn around if you get taken out early.
A worthy note that needs to be made is on the quality of experienced players there. On Firday night the players are largely made up of more experienced players and owners. Though the owners go pretty hard on each other they do take it easier on the new players and renters. How much would you like it if your first time out playing you were shot ten times in a row? Right.
According to their website The Paintball Arena will be opening a new field in the near future. They haven't said when yet, but it is going to be a speedball field where the paint is cheap and the electros will be allowed all the time. I'm looking forward to it!
They got rid of the gravel !!!!!!! Yay! Since that it seems that they are cleaning their field more often. In the world of paintball it is a really clean field.
They filled in the back right corner with a castle. For those who have played there you know what I am talking about. No more chairs and caution tape.
Did I mention that they got rid of the gravel?
The memberships are also valid at OuterLimits outdoor paintball.
The only night that they allow electro-markers is Friday night. Which means that the only day of the week I can go is Friday. This will be remedied when they open their speedball field.
There is a little proshop, even though it sounds like a larger one. If I stuck a price tag on my personal stash of equipment I would have a bigger "proshop".
90 paintballs in a bag? On the website it says that they fit in the hopper better. Ok... but they are still charging what everyone else charges for 100.
Played none, but Flagraiders Indoor is the competition.
Directions to the Field:
69 Agnes Street, pretty close to downtown.
I was simply blown away by how much fun I had at PBA. The atmosphere was great, the staff & ref were super friendly and not patronizing in the least. It feels like a family-run business. Safety was paramount and the number of different scenario's played was awesome. Super place to just go hang out with friends and play some paintball.
The biggest negative would have to be their pro shop. After playing I was interested in perhaps investing in some gear of my own, but I had to go to the competition because PBA only had 1 marker in stock at the time, with virtually no accessories save one model of mask/goggs and a couple of barrels.
I will definitely play PBA again, and may consider a membership for '07. I will still give Flagraiders a fair shot before making any final decision.
Renegade Guelph - small, unprofessional, but OK
Flag Raiders Indoor $$$$ - the members shoot up newbies

search on google...everything you need on their site
The Paintball Arena is truly a professional field. They treat the customers great. Staff is helpful and go out of their way to make the games awesome. A fantastic field, over 25,000 square feet....big buildings, big streets, big castle, big speedball field--Sherwood forest. This place is in business for the fun of paintball, sure there's competition, but everyone I see has a great time. No one is treated unfairly and over agressive behaviour is not tolerated. People who like to break the rules get kicked out, and end up playing somewhere else where they don't care about fun value or safety. I love Friday nights...1/2 price paint and always a huge fun crowd. I took my nephew there for his 13th birthday on a Tuesday night and he loved it. They had huge upstairs party rooms with fantastic viewing and everyone had a blast. I would recommend the Paintball Arena to anyone who plays the sport...unless you have an attitude and don't like to play fair. If that's the case....go somewhere else. The Paintball Arena is a professional, high quality field where people go to have FUN. Trust me, especially if you are a regular at another field, this place is a refreshing alternative to the norm.
Prices are great...$10 entrance for gun owners...stay all day!
The paintball arena is awesome. when i first went there they had gravel , but now they got flooring wich is awesome fo sliding. there right side of it is a forest(indoor) wood bunkers its set as a speed ball court. the left side is a bunch of buildings with alleys bunkers. i just got a membership for 175 a year next year is discount for 75 then 50 then FREE!
with the member ship balls are cheaper and no entrance fee. on fridays its $5/90 ballls and $25 for 500. its pretty good price and a fun place to paintball
Ive played one my own paintball course (little bushball with friends), a paintball course up in teeswater and Tour of Duty. The paintball Arena is one of the top playing fields i have been to.
General - this is a great playing field.. some downfall i seen was on there site they have air conditioning so me and my crew figured the whole area was but its only in the waiting room when your refilling your hopper and getting ready for the next game... another one was the smell of the paint in the building it seemed like they never cleaned the carpet but its not a major problem..
Safety - There safety is amazing if you break the barrel stock / condom rule once you have to sit out for a round and if you break it twice then you are kicked out of the place making it really safe
Fields - loved there buildings. there's a town on one side of the arena and a speedball course made out of plywood painted as a forest so you can just play speedball or scenario or both at once..
Hours - GREAT house on cheap night... 6:00-midnight.. i live an hour away and even if i had a job i would be able to make it up there in time to play. and you don't HAVE to show up at 6:00 you can show up whenever you want...
Prices - although we came on cheap night the price was great $115 for 2000 paint, field , 1 free C02.. where as at other places its $160
JUST for 2000 paintballs...
Rules - the staff member that was organizing the games have a huge marker board that has a field layout underneath the plastic so that they can draw out the lines of where you can go in there certain gametypes and which team goes where.
staff - the staff was great. one of my crew members bought a Double Trigger for his Tippman A5 and they installed it for him. Another crew member bought a Tippman Custom Pro and the guy kindly opened the box for his and checked to see if the gun had all the items in the box and made sure it worked..
