Orbital paintball field is a pretty decent field. I'll start out with what I liked about the field:
1. The players seem to be pretty cool there. There is a wide variety from young to older and the people seem to be very nice.
2. The refs get games going in a decent amount of time so you don't sit and wait all day to play 3 games.
3. The air line seems to go fairly quickly.
4. Seems like a good amount of people show up, there were around 20 people to a team when I was there.
5. The Airball field seemed pretty well set up though we never actually got the chance to play on it as there were teams practicing.
6. The castle field was great. I think they need to setup a few more bunkers on the woods side of it, but other than that, it's really pretty well setup.
1. The woods field isn't set up very well. There really is a large lack of places to hide. The bunkers just aren't really there and the trees are too small to really make for effective hiding especially with such large teams.
2. The speedball fields were a little bit small for the amount of people per team and they seemed to use the spool field and the hyper ball field together in order to alleviate the population problems though I'm not sure if it helped much, but honestly this could be in pros or cons because it was still a fun time, though I do think they need to setup the bunkers a little bit more evenly as the spool side has much more options and their ability to move up is far superior due to the amount of places to hide.
3. The sand on these fields is pretty outta control, you really have to be careful where you put your gun if you do for some reason have to lay it down during a game.
4. They only had 2 refs working at the time and most of the time they were standing near each other which really didn't seem to help much, they seemed to leave it more to the players to enforce the rules though when they did see someone get hit they called them out right away which was good.
5. If you called for a paintcheck they really didn't do anything but stand there so that kinda sucked.
6. I'm not sure if this is a standard down here or not, but there were no tables or chairs or anything, you pretty much set up out of your vehicle or whatever items you may have brought with you. While I don't really expect chairs, I do at least expect to have some tables, though to serve the amount of people they get I suppose they would need a lot of tables.
All in all I would definitely go back to play though I can't say it's my favorite field I've ever played though I'm mostly used to the fields up in New England and the woods fields up there can't really be compared to the ones here....the woods just aren't that great in Florida I guess. I do plan on visiting more fields in the area.
Hi-Tech (Little more expensive but they follow the rules of the game whats good for one is good for all)
Orange County Paintball (Orlando field great people)
Rapid Fire Paintball (Venice) Big Field
The experince today was one of rather dissappointment. First thing I have to complain about is the bathrooms. Everyone hates porta potties but lets face it there is ONLY ONE for how many people may go on any given day.
Lets talk rules they pull you out into the center before the game starts and tell you all the rules. Pretty basic set for every where you go. Yet they allowed some folks to ramp up there guns and others were told to leave the feild for doing it as well. Whats good for one should be good for all period.
Two refs for 40+ players is aweful. All kinds of stuff slipped past these guys unnoticed or they honestly didnt give a crap. The fields except for one that we played on today in my oppion were to small for that many people. Also you would have two diffrent games on two feilds that were connected the out of bounds lines were not clearly marked.
The plus to this field is that it is cheep to play and you can bring your own paint. Other then that i cringe when the team decides we are to play there. I'd rather take full auto from my entire team than to play this field again.
this field is pretty solid. they have 1 small airball field. 1 hyperball field which is just these two fields combined. 1 speedball field which they always combine to make the hyperball field. a small woods field which is pretty good size with a fort and the big woods which is pretty massive.
they play all kinds of games including attack and defend which is insane if you play the game aggresively. they play some game were you have to capture some penguin. They play a similar game with a teddy bear and in this game there is 3 teams! one is a group of 4-6 who's job is to protect the teddy.
if you are a sole speedball player i wouldnt necessarily recommend this field because they place mostly woods and belive you will stick out when you are 6'3" and are wearing a bright yellow Evil jersey.
the last time i was here i had to wait in a 35 minute line and the first game didnt start till like 10:15.
there rental guns are crap. and there masks are always dirty. however the paint here is fairly inexpensive.
it cost $10 field pass. $15 all day compressed air i think. and it cost $10 all day CO2
Good field. I am a woodsball player and my review is mainly for woods players. I played here just last week and had the time of my life. It was a bunch of guys just having fun together. The refs get you back on the field for a new game pretty fast. I think I played 7 games. They also have a airball field and a couple of other smaller fields so the tourney boys pretty much stay away from the average players in the woods.
My only negative comment is that I do not feel that they pull much maintenance on there equipment. I kinda feel bad bringing in friends that need to rent. Lots of malfunctions and dirty markers.
Overall as a player with my own gear, I give the field a 9 out of 10. The refs are pretty good and will always try to do a paint check. I am going back this Saturday. See you there.

Gator(great), Florida Paintball(only speedball), spec ops place (great), jungle games (terrible), Florida Glatiators Paintball (fun tourny's)
I used to play here with my team (Team Hogan) and it is a good field for woodsball. It doesn't have any airball fields but thats ok because i basically never play on airball anyways. I used to love going here and I would still go here every once in a while but now im addicted to Gator Paintball. I think that Gator is better but don't get me wrong Orbital is still a great field. One of the things that i didn't like at this at this field is that every once in a while a ref would stop me from going on the field even though i was about 2 steps behind the other guy that would get through... Other than some small things I like this field and theres not much bad about it.
What a awsome field. Prices are the best around and they have a little bit of everything so you can can be playing woods, then speedball. If your looking for woods, this is your place awsome field with many different game types. If your looking for speedball/airball Orbital has got you covered. With a field that changes from day to day, praticing for the tourneys is something that you can do here. Also if your looking to rent a gun, only $15 for gun/mask/ and all day air. Go to Orbital!
Safety: The safety there is great except the fact they have a chronograph but they don't check if your gun is under 290 u could have it at 400 feet per second they would notice. But everyone there isn't mean so they all adjust their gun.
Fields: They have about 3-4 fields and they are one air ball, one rec ball, and one or two woods ball. The air ball field is small but still cool I like it it's for like three on three or four on four. the rec ball field is like 50 yards long it is very cool i played a 20 on 20 it was fun and very tiring I used like 400 paintballs. The woods ball field I played was bigger than the rec ball one as it should be it is very fun.
Refs: The refs there are very aware of people getting shot but they get lazy so you have to get in there face if you want to play air ball.
The Place itself: The prices are good except the 9volt batteries. They are $5.00 each and there is a Winn-Dixie like 2 miles away just get them there. But the field is in a trashy area. there are lots of trash everywhere and its like a trailer trash neighborhood (no offense). They also order pizza that you can buy off them for a reasonable price like $11.00 a pie.
If you need a quick place to go and to play with good safety and reasonable prices you should go here.
We call Orbital Paintball our home field for a reason. They put the customer first. Jeff has gone out of his way to make sure that all players, recballers, tourney and scenarioballers have the best time possible! Not only does he care about the field and the game, he cares PERSONALLY for the player as evidenced many times by his personal interaction with first timers, young guns and "cranky" old scenarioballers...pun intended.
I look forward to the next game, as always...waiting as the week slowly drags by until Sunday Morning...usually about 0600...gotta check the gear, load the pods, load the car...wait until 0800 and then head for the field for what has to be the best recreational activity. Golf? Please, the other golfers do not try and flank you...they are not doing strong side rushes and setting a lone sniper in the rough to bugger your shot.
You want to have some fun and maybe get in shape too? Try Paintball.
Orbital has some of the most "scenario experienced" players in paintball playing there every Saturday and Sunday. Between our team, Rogue Force, Xtreme Fanatics, Orbital Reign, Duncan's Raiders (of Duncangames.com) and the Guardians, and quite few that visit regularly, the competition and level of skill and stand up ball is hard to top. Come on out and have some fun, if you get a chance.
Many tourney players call Orbital home too! This provides for some really interesting woods games/large hyperball games! There is a lot to be learned from the way a good 5 man tourney team can "walk" the field using good tactics/communication.
Hopefully that big blow (Dennis) will be outta here for Sunday! (just cleaned the 98...checked the paint supply...not enough...never enough)
It is hard to fault a field when the owner cares that much, plus, THEY NOW FILL TO 5000 PSI!
The Castle (attack and defend) has really developed into tactical battle of guts and will!
I have not played other fields in this area. I hope this one is not the norm for the area, or maybe just a bad day.....
To be completely fair, I didn't even actually proceed with playing at the field.....
I am from Atlanta, GA. A few good friends of mine live in the St Petersburg area and play paintball. This field came recommended by one of them who used to play there I am guessing.....My friend and I arrived at the field and were instantly concerned. There was a very large pile of trash boxes right near the parking lot. Not even getting into the health hazard, but what a sight to see when you are just arriving.
We were also alarmed to see that the field was very poorly maintained. Well let me take that back. The field that the people were playing on that day was poorly maintained. The grass/weeds/piles of half decomposed former bunkers were at least knee high. The spools and wooden bunkers that were left on the field were one bump away from falling into heaps resembling their former accompaniment.
There was a hyperball style field with "french drain" plastic bunkers that looked almost decent other than the poor drainage and obvious water erosion. It had been raining pretty heavily the past few weeks according to my local buddy, so that was probably why that field wasn't being played on. I imagine that also accounted for the pile of airball bunkers deflated on the ground beside what appeared to be the most well maintained and manicured field. ( this kinda made me wonder though...why was one field so well maintained and the other so trashy? )
We stood near the field to watch a game or two before we started. In a moment we were having to duck rogue paintballs getting through the rather large breeches in the net. The middle of two parts was barely sewed together, and not at all in some places. Leaving many spectators and a great deal of the parking lot open to damage..We actually had to move my buddies car to avoid damage to it
.As I mentioned before the grass and weeds were quite overgrown, possibly due to the rain? but it concerned me what critters could have been lurking....
...anyway, we watched the game for a moment. There were about 15-20 players on the field with what appeared to be 2 refs. It was nearing the end of the game and both refs were near the side that was loosing the game. One of the players was struck and was called out by the refs. He walks about 3 steps away, still well in the action with many paintballs flying at and around him. He takes his mask completely off and continues his dead man walk over halfway the distance of one side of the field without a single word from a ref, or any other experienced player or spectator !
At that moment we both looked straight at one another and shook our heads walking to the car. I have played paintball for over 7 years. In all that time I have only seen one game have such blatant disregard for the safety of the players and spectators, and it was a renegade game in a backyard....
My friend tells me that many paintball venues in Florida are falling victim to rising real estate costs, bringing expenses beyond profit for many fields, good and bad alike. I imagine that if this in the norm for this place then that will not play in its demise....
Its a easy place to find. Its got great location, and no competition at all. I hope that this is not the way it always runs. I would like to think not. It would have been great to play there, but I certainly wouldn't recommend it to anyone after the initial experience.
