dumb question

I'm new to paintball and I have a 98 custom. Well yesterday I got a PMI Pure Energy CO2 tank(9 oz.) and my parents would only let me do 3 shots in the back yard and shoot this wood board(the tank was full). When I got in the house I took it off my gun and it hissed very loud and co2 was shooting out(white color, looked like a lot of lost co2) and the o ring was broken. what happened?

did this happen while you were unscrewing your tank?

yes the hissing did but i didn't know when the o ring broke.

Also, do I have to oil it at all?

no you don't need to oil the tank. next time when you unscrew your tank, take your hopper off of your marker, point it towards the ground, and keep pulling the trigger as you unscrew the tank. The fact that you broke a o-ring on the tank is fine. There is nothing wrong with the tank or your gun. Your probably going to go through a few oring before you get the hang of de-gassing your gun. it's nothing to worry about. Just buy extra o-rings
