View Full Version : Why is it so hard to obtain field paint?

I play at a field (the field shall remain nameless) who uses Draxxus blaze paint with the pink/purple shell and pink fill. I've searched all over the net for this paint and only found two sites that sell anything similar. Why is that? I understand that field paint is sold for a certain reason (safety issues and what not), but again, why is it so hard to find? I've been everywhere and again, I've only found two seperate websites that sold the similar paint. I don't know about you, but I'm sick and tired of paying $80-$100 for a simple case of paint that should otherwise be retailed for $45.00! Rediculous! The fields I have been to are the same, it's either Draxxus pink/purple with a pink fill or yellow fill, but I can never find it anywhere else....what's your take on this conspiracy?

well, you alredy know the reasoning behind the paint not being sold to the consumer.... fields will lose money if you don't buy it from them! the special colors they use are only available through the factory when you own a field and you're looking to buy a large quantity of paint.

Not quite. At the field i generally play at, it is easy to find their paint online. Last i checked it was blaze with a combo of red, yellow, and orange or somethin like that. That changed from somethin else, team colors miami, which i could find. At the other place i most recently played at, they had green/black with green fill worr paint. Easy to find.

hmm... lucky you then! that's what I was told by a friend of mine who works for the paintball field I play at, after I spent a week searching online (with no luck) for the special marbs we use at the field.

Isn't this thread a repeat of your earlier thread?
Any way, Field paint is hard to find just to keep people from buying it and then sneaking it on to FPO fields.
Basically sneaking paint on to FPO fields is screwing your local field over. Fields don't make money off of the $3 dollars entrance fee, or the $8 all day air fee. They make the money needed to stay in business off of paint sales. It's not a conspiracy, it's called business.
If you don't want to pay mark up then play outlaw, simple as that. Otherwise help support your local field and don't sneak your own paint in.
PS. I don't know about your field but at mine you would be reported and banned for sneaking paint in. Don't expect your fellow PBers to be to understanding about your screwing the field over by bringing in your own paint.

Generally, its special colors that the field works out with their supplier. If you dont like paying a lot for FPO, then find a field that isnt. No one likes paying insane amounts for paint. Maybe you can work out a deal with the owner. Ref there twice a month for 2 cases of paint or something. There are tons of options that dont involve swindling your local business.

the only thing repetitive are those that conflict the issues.

$3 dollars entrence fee? I'd love to know where you play at. Most people are usually paying $10-20. Anyway, all I was asking is why is it so hard to find, not how I can best "screw" over my local field. Doesn't matter anyway, I recently found a good supplier for the exact paint I need. My initial goal was never to "sneak" paint in and avoid paying for it, it was to insure I don't have to buy AS much paint so-as I can afford to play the game and pay my bills. (my mom doesn't pay for my recreational equiptment/supplies)

I play at Ft. Ker-splat in Casper, WY. If your ever in WY, you should come by and play. They use Seconds paint, at $60 per case, the only down side is it's a CO2 only field. Oh yeah the $3 fee is for those with their own equipment, just in case that wasn't obvious, but you can also rent equipment if needed.
You asked why it was so hard to get field paint and I answered. You said it yourself that you found Draxxus Blaze for $45 on line but it didn't match your field's shell and fill colors.
I guess my question is if you were looking for the same paint your field uses (because you have matched your barrel to Draxxus Blaze paint guess on my part) why would it have to exactly match your field's shell and fill combination if your were not thinking of sneaking it in?
Paint varies from batch to batch, so a case of Tan/Green Green stands as much of a chance at matching a case of Purple/Pink made 2 months ago as a case Purple/Pink that was made today. So your not gaining anything by exactly matching what your field uses unless you buy from the same batch that your field purchased.

First off, I appologize if we got off on the wrong foot here. Yes I asked why it was so hard to purchase field paint, and most people, including yourself answered back. So I now understand it's an issue of proprietary needs when it comes to the fields and their owners. The main reason I wanted the matching paint of the kind my local field uses is to cut down on my expenses when I play on the weekend. My idea was to purchase half my paint from an outside retailer at a reasonable price(...$45 a case) and purchase the other half from my local playing field (...$80 a case). I don't know what you do for a living, but at the moment I'd rather spend $125.00 dollars for 2 cases of paint rather than the gratuitous $160.00. Doesn't sound so bad now, huh? Basically I'm using both seperately brought paint at the same field(s). As far as the paint matching what the field sells...yep, I found, with plenty of online research, the exact Brand with shell and fill I need. Call me a cheater, a deadbeat or even a no good penny pincher...but the end result is that I'm the one paying for it, not anyone else, but me. When someone comes out and offers to buy me paint, great, then they can buy it from the field all they want.
(just a note: I still buy field paint...just not as much)
