What do you mean what you should do to it? you mean before you use it? how you should upgrade it? Or do you want to know if there is any extra care needed with your model?

Most of this can be answered in Wolvies FAQ: http://www.kamworld.net/paintball/ImpulseFAQ.html

I don't think there is a return policy for the Impy's but its always worth a chance to call Smart Parts up and ask them. I would get a blade trigger and maybe some of the internals that are in my sig. But get the VFF (Voodoo Full Flow)

VFF, NDz Bolt, Old-style Blade Trigger or AI Frame... SS Rat Hole Hammer, NDz Slick SHot Ram, gadget grip, new barrel, & STICKY GRIPS!

BTW dont worry about getting an Imp that old, its still an Imp and thats whats Important... if ya dont mind, how much did she cost you?

that imp is a pre-release imp, it is one of the very first imps that sp came out with, it should have the old style bolt, hammer, and ram - all of which you will need to replace as the originals were not able to stand up to rigorous use

my advice-don't get it, buy a cheap imp off e-bay or the trade forums here. Pre release imps are just that, PRE RELEASE, they are the markers that were made so that sp could find problems which were then solved in release model imps.

Also if you have an imp with that low a serial number you will not be able to use impulse threaded barrels as the very first imps used shocker barrels whose threads had been shortened

see http://www.kamworld.net/paintball/ImpulseFAQ_General.html#G4 for more details.

You are a little late on the body deal. Smart Parts did that for fokes within the first year. They no longer do it- but they will often give you a great deal on upgradeing your body and many of the interals - I think it was about $100 last I heard.
