View Full Version : Barrels
When I get my Spyder Compact 2000, I might get a new barrel, as I hear the stock barrel is horrible.
I was reading about the J&J Ceramic barrel, and it sounds pretty good, for $44 dollars.
But I hear its a small-bore barrel. Since I won't be going that often (maybe 2-3 times a month) I just buy the balls I can find around here at like Walmart and Farm N Fleet. I have some Sheridans, some View Loaders, and they also have PMI's I think they're called, but I haven't bought any yet.
Will the Sheridans or View Loaders work well with the J&J Ceramics barrel, or are they too big?
What barrel would you recomend if the J&J one won't do the job for me.
thanks

i used Med boer with my Jj once, and it was ok..but i did have quite a few breaks..get a Lapco Bigshot. That is a GREAT med. bore barrle, and for 50 bucks it's a steal.

Thanks, Ill check into that. So Sheridans and Viewloader balls are Med. bore?

yep they are medium bore...get the Lapco Bigshot..it's worth more than you pay for..it has the accuracy that is better than a Dye Boomstick, but only 50 bucks.
What about cleaning?
The J&J Ceramics barrel appealed to me because it was self cleaning, and I heard the Compact 2k's were tough to disassemble and clean.

HELL NO!~! Spyders are one of the easiest guns to clean. The Lapco and JJ both are easy to clean, and have good shoot through capabilities.
Sweet sweet, thats excellent.
So are the stock barrels on the Compact really that bad, for a beginner like me?
I don't have 50 bucks right now, so as soon as my gun comes, I'll go a few times before I can afford a new barrel.
They can't be that bad.. especially when my friends are also new, and have Stingrays and Raptors.. with no costums added at all.
btw, Thanks for the help.

Stock barrels in a lot of guns arent very good. There are acceptions and it is personal preference. Another barrel you may want to consider that is also cheap is a CP barrel.

omg...okay....if your friends play with raptors and sting rays.....ur stock spyder barrel is like boom sticks compared to theirs. i have a stock tippman.....and its A LOT worse than the stock spyder. u can actually see the lines inside da tippmann barrel. just play more instead of gettin a barrel so quickly. i mean, more practice, more ur better, the better ur barrel but u dont know how to play...dats not good. so just get it when u have enough money....

By the way V, if a local store is selling only View loaders, sheridans, and PMI, Id take the PMI anyday. This might help you with your bore problem. I wouldnt compare the bore of the barrel to VL or Sheridan. Compare it to PMI, cause thats the best paint u mentioned.

For the compact id get the j&j, . The bomstick is the bet barrle u can get, but thers no point in buyign a barel more expensive then ur gun. Id get a bottomline setup too, and a j&j barrel, whic would all cost abou the price 90 bucks with a reg and bottemline and barel, and like 70 for a barrel, bottmeline, and ex chamber.

I also have a compact 2000. I just bought a new nyte stick barrel and works very well. It quiets it down and definetly improves range and accuracy.
