Suggestion:

What do you think about adding a Member rating field. That way memebers could rate one another. Kind of give people feed back about their posts. Let people rate others 1 time a week or something....

It may reduce the amount of useless threads, and bad posting

;)

Might also eliminate the Off Topic Forum

Hmmm... only problem with that is some people would go around lowering other's member's ratings. I think only mods should be able to affect such a rating.

Good idea BaldDog. Really, what's keeping me from saying Thor is the stupidest member ever.
Thor, if you're reading this, you know I'm jokin.

Not a bad idea... that way post count isn't the only way of rating status. Users would benefit cause they would know who is more trustworthy.

It'd be hard to come up with a fair rating system though.

Here's my suggestion:

If you want to give somone a rating you submit a form to one of the mods with what score you'd give the particular user (out of 10) and why you chose the rating. Then the mods review it, and decide weather it's fair or not, and if they'll use it.

But don't get rid of the post count.

No, we would still keep the post count.

Caveat: if any member can put a rating on anyother member, then a group could gang up and lower someone's rating just becaues he uses a BE marker or some other really stupid reason.

If anything, a rating system would work better in the buy/sell forum ... something similar to the way Yahoo Auctions or eBay members can rate a buyer or seller, but only after they've completed a transaction.
