I suck at it, so can i get some tips from pro's? I play at a small, indoor ctf place, i think it's 4000 sq feet (or whatever is the standardized size for a paintball arena).
I use a pump gun btw.

Playing tight is very important make sure u as close to your bunker as possible. Also learn how to snapshoot, http://www.paintballstar.com has a good article on it also they have a good article on playin up front. Try to play up front a lot and be aggressive, learn from your mistakes. Good luck

unfortunatly; i suffer from that... what do you call... ah yes, fear of injury syndrome. I mean, sometimes if i go play with friends, there's up to 10 men per team, and in our arena, it's next to impossible to move anywhere without getting picked off by someone.
Some guy with an autococker who works there says he can take on a team of 20, and not get hit once, but completly annihilate them.
Other than buying an autococker, what's the best thing to do?

I play upfront. If your back players aint covering ya well enough it's hard to pull off some good moves. SPRINT to your first bunker, while you're running keep your head up and see where the other team's front players are going. After that..snap shooting, learn to snap shoot well and you'll go a long way.
MY JOB
On my team there's 5 of us, I'm at the second furtherst to the right. I sprint to the right "Spike" Bunker almost on the half line of the field. Since I'm on the right side, I "shoot the angles". My job is to take out players on the left side by shooting the left angle. I have CLEAR vision of most of the left side, so I control that area. I'm also making sure my teammate in the left Spike doesn't get bunkered. He does the same to me by protecting the right angle.
There's a bit on this at http://www.pbstar.com
I play front, I play front well...

wait for your teammates to start laying down fire/take fire before you do anything important. They'll be preoccupied enough with them, that making a move should be a snap for you.

I reread your first post...pump for front player? Not gonna insult you or anything, I think it's cool..but doesn't it get a little hard snap shooting? Now for some more rants..
PLAY AGGRESSIVE!! Advance atleast once or twice a game, you'll get no where if you don't cover more ground..plus you're holding your back & mid players from moving up. If there's one player left on the opposition, my first thought is "bunker the poor soul". With a teammate pinning him down, I can bunker the guy %80 of the time (%20 of the time my shoes aren't tied :P)
Remember my last post where I said my first move is the Spike? On the Airball field (same one) there is a Submarine just ten feet ahead of me and on the right tape. This is my second move. I usually head there 2-3 minutes in the game, if we haven't already won (tourney players you know what I mean..game's sometimes last 30 seconds). Before I make the move to the Sub, I'll yell "B-2b". I have to 2nd bunker moves, the Sub is my "b" option. This tells my back players "better lay some fire while Dan runs to the Sub".
RUN LOW, RUN FAST..slide into the bunker, don't waste time slowing down then kneeling. Once you've made into your bunker (any bunker, doesn't matter if it's the second move) get your gun up on your shoulder ASAP and ready to fire. I LOVE bunkering people who've jus made a bunker move, they're usually unprepared for it and are just getting their bearings....
that's all for now, I'll continue my tips little later on

Well, keep on playing paintball until you lose that fear. You may have great technical skills, but until you learn to act without any hesitation from fear or doubt, you will not be a good front player. Playing up front is a "balls-out" position. You're put in a very vulnerable spot most of the time, running through a butt-load of paint just to get there. Some games you are going to Take out the entire team in the first minute, another you are going to get bunkered bad and end up with a nice assortment of welts. If you cant handle it, then keep playing until you lose your fears. The rest of playing front is all snap-shooting, having a great back guy to keep you in the game, luck, and most importantly instincts. Sometimes you do things just because, and it will break the game open. Othertimes you do things just because and get caught in a 3 man crossfire, that's what playing front is about. Keep at it, and you will learn :)

just keep in mind that you are no longer a back player, and people will be watching you, unlike the person that they never looked at when you were in the back being ***, so htey will notice all of your mistakes, and you need to be good. try to practice shooting in your back yard, and pop shooting, and crap, it will help

Well, snap shooting works alot better than you'd think. You'd think that with people shooting a stream of paintballs you'd have to get hit by one by poking your head out for a snap shot. I used to think this alot too, but last time I played pb I played this 4 on 4 game of speedball in a small room. I was snap shooting alot even though everyone was shooting solid, mostly at me because I had the cocker on my team. Although I did get hit, I got in quite a few snap shots before I got hit.
