I have already done a search so dont even try to flame.

I have a 2002 Nasty and i cant get the damn feed neck off. I have tried to put a lighter at the base to melt the damn loc-tite, I put the whole feed into a opt of boiling water, no luck just a couple of sore burn spots on my hands :pissed: I dont have a hair drier that gets ot enough. and it's not because im not strong enough, i even used a cloth and a wrench too see if i could lossen it. Any ideas?

do you give a crap about this feed tube? if you dont, pull out the vice grips....

otherwise use the lighter again, for a longer period of time.. then get some rubber gloves to twist it off.....

You should go buy a strap wrench and try that.

strap wrench, and a hairdryer (one of your neighbours must have one

I personally found that a revvy with a feedneck slightly too large allowed me to unscrew my feedneck (push revvy in, then twist very hard) but then you have the (equally hard) problem of getting the feedneck off the revvy

Yea, i actually accidentally unscrewed my feed neck one time while trying to remove my revvy from the feed neck.
Tough revvy...

Try the lighter for a longer period of time. It took me 5 minutes just to remove one of the screws once. I also seem to remember the Smart Parts techs having some sort of vice tool that they used to remove my feed neck. I don't know the name of it, but it got the feed neck out. But it scratched the crap out of it though.

Skog and thebluenu... i like the way you both think im going to give it a strap wrench and if that doesnt work, time for Ol' Torchy.

Sometimes a lighter doesn't get it hot enough, at least not hot fast enough. You may use a propane or mapp gas torch, just remove the bolt and ball detent first to avoid damaging the plastic parts. Heat it evenly, you'll notice the metal start to sweat a bit, that's ok. What I also used, before I got a strap wrench, was about 18" of tape. Start to wrap the tape, going in the direction you will turn the feedtube, then after about 1 or 2 wraps, twist the tape so the sticky part is facing out and continue wrapping. That should give you plenty of grip so when the loctite is softened by the heat, you'll be able to twist the feedtube right out.

Edit:Make that 4track mind, i forgot TV

Edit 2: make that 5 track, i forgot my gf

I've heard talk of a fiber coated wrench. I assume it's a regular pair of vise grips , or channel lock style pyliers that have a fiber (soft) grip to them so as to not scratch the finish of what you're trying to wrench.

I've removed such things using a old pair of leather gloves and a vise. I used a propane torch sparingly. Burnt Impulse are rather ugly especially when thet are mine!

Also, if you have vision, careful of that vision eye. Theres wires under that black cover very close to the feedneck.

try taking it to pevs of check it man...if u take out the blow torch, u risk screwing up that pretty nasty impulse :)

Well, when Pevs took my Max-Flo regulator and got the O-Rings put in the wrong place, which has resulted in many a calls to SP, I think i'll rely on me and the advice of you all.

Ya it is wierd, because my team mate Muckraker was cleaning his gun in hot water and he just twisted it off.

Maybe the secret to getting it off is not trying to get it off :eyes:
