How can i raise my ROF of my 98. I dont have a custom, so is it still possible to get a double trigger? Is the only ROF upgrade a response trigger? I havent ever had a chopped ball and i pull trigger as fast as my little 98 will let me... I still am not sold on the requirement of an agitated hopper... but what are some cheap ways to increase my ROF?

well if your not sold yet... when you start chopping because your firing too fast you will be...

double trigger is... $20 or so i think... the other things you can do for cheap would be... a trigger job... and practice...

other than that... a R/T or e-bolt...

for some people, double triggers hinder their rate of fire, some people find it helps. A double trigger will really only dramatically help with a good trigger shortening/ lightening mod. And yes, they make them for the model 98.

The response trigger works great as well as the e-bolt, but that's getting into big money.

I would definitely suggest an agitated hopper if you're going to increase your rof. Otherwise you might find out the hard way (like in the middle of a shootout) that your loader can't keep up with your newly modified tippy.

so how do i do this "trigger" job... i read the do it yourself guide and i didnt like the idea of using a pen spring and an elastic... where do i need stronger and where do i need weaker springs? looking at the pyscho ballistics double trigger you gotta cut you original trigger guard off?

2 how fast can you get these things going? i have the same ROF as my buddy with a double triggered cocker... hes got an agitator...

well cockers aren't really known for they're high rof either...

4-7 i'd say is pretty average...
and about 6-9 if you really try...

clicky pen springs work wonders... just keep your other springs in a safe place in case you ever want to go back...

You'll need to change the sear spring and the spring that's attaching to the back of the trigger to a lighter one. The elastics are the easiest way to do this, but if you wanted you could buy the maddman spring kit. Check out the magnetic trigger mod in the DIY mods. That will make a much lighter trigger pull and is a much better trigger mod IMO. Also, it will shorten the pull. If you want to shorten your trigger pull to something like a mouse click, you can do that by glueing spacers between the powertube and trigger as shown in the pic.

For the double trigger to fit, you need to cut the original trigger guard. then you can buy an aftermarket guard like the lapco which screws onto one of the reciever holes.

And if you're keeping up with your friends cocker, either his trigger pull is a lot longer than it should be, or he has a slow trigger finger. I don't know what people can do in terms of bps on a tippmann, but I'm guessing without an rt or ebolt and with only trigger mods you could top out at 10bps.

or u could look at the top of the page at the stickys and do my trigger job, with pictures and everything, also if u have any questions on how to do it all my email and aim is there, i garentee your rof will increase 1 or 2 bps with my mod

ok so there are spring kits available for this gun... thats good... i just do not like idea of homeade stuff in my gun... anyone know though if that fully auto mod works with changing or modifying the sear?

Do NOT, let me repeat that... DO NOT do any full auto modifications to your tippmann! None of them work correctly, and will only damage your tippmann. It's not worth it. The mods listed in the do it yourself post are all safe and will work very well.

to answer your question though, the full auto mod doesn't require you to do anything to your sear.

why does the sear mod make your gun blow up... i played with the mod a little and it didnt seem to do anything... what breaks...

I dont see what could actually break...

who said it made your gun blow up..?
it just cycles way to fast(to fast for the sear) and wears down your sear really quick...

The RT would be the best way to get your ROF up to over around 7bps. But you'll have to send it in to Tippmann to have them do the milling to get the RT to fit in it. It is the classic 98 right? Tippmann won't charge for any laber that they have to do, just for the parts. The RT is a little more if you get it from them, but it's not really too bad, and you only have to pay for shipping to get your gun to them.
Your friend with the Cocker needs to learn his gun better. A girl I play with can get very high rates of fire with hers. Almost as fast as my 98C with the RT. Not turned up all the way, but I'm guessing (yes only a guess) around 10+ BPS. She can outshoot a 9volt revvy for certain.

Another way is to buy the Maddmann spring kit. If you feel uncomfortable about making internal modification, use the lighter sear and trigger springs. That will increase your ROF by making a easier trigger pull.
