Tournie Spyders

i've used my spyder in a few tourneys, not just the SPyder cup...i get made fun of and get underestimated, but they are teh ones that end up gettin out..

Any gun can be used in tournies and will work fine. But you will never get the same performance out of a spyder as you will get out of a cocker. Yeah you can trcik your spyder out like TL did his and that might be comparible to a stock cocker, but it will never perform like a tricked out cocker will.

my gun will keep up with mildly modified cockers...but something like a FF cocker..i have no chance when straight compared..but remember..the gun doesn't make the player...RIGht Counterfeit?hehe

A spyder will not get the consistency of alot of the higher guns, and that makes a big difference in long range accuracy, and in tournies, you want every little bit you can get. maybe a front player wouldnt notice too much difference, but a back player I could see getting very frustrated using a Spyder

I think u could take any spyder to a tourney, especially the EM1, Shutter, TLplus, or SE. Spyder 2000 or compact2k might need to be upgraded a little, but as everyone already said, "Its not the gun, its the player." I totally agree.

i agree its not the gun but the player. I would just like to say that i surf and i know some kids that can blow the competition out of the water even though the first foot of the board has been knocked off. just a story.

That story i said is true but merely a parable that its not the things you have but how good you are at it. I live by the beach and surf w/ a surfboard. And this kid can have a ruined surf board and still be the best in the area.

yep i think that goes for every sport..some guy had a pretty old snowboard...and these kids who thought they were all that just made fun of him...that one guy showed them all up...in all sports it's the personal skills, not the equipment that they are using.

Read below about my gun..

I was put up against 2 amatuer level players (myself being a decent novice level, about to move into amatuer) I pinned, and surrenedered 1 of them, and mask hit the other.

They were both using Intimidators set to Semi mode, while i was using my spyder (lcd set to semi).

It was a good match up, for a unfair game so to speak. but i had fun and showed them a bit of what a blowback with a lcd grip can do.

Everyone puts way to much on the marker. If you don't run up to the bunker without getting painted it don't mean squat how much you payed for your marker. And I've never seen an Angle long ball someone at the start without someone there to pull the trigger.

I understand your point when you say that the gun does not make the player. But the gun does HELP. It wont make you win, but it can help you. Let me put it this way, a begining tourney player with a talon v/s a novice with an E-MAG. Who will win? Maybe the tourney, but my bets would be on the novice. And a spyder will never match a cocker. I love spyders, but i have to admit that. Autocockers have a thing called a closed bolt, which is extreamly acurate compared to the openbolt in the spyders. And there is no way to convert an open bolt gun to a closed bolt. But spyders are still great for the first timers to the advanced tourney/novice player. But dont try to win the world cup.

You dont even need a marker in some cases. Me and my friends were playin a little every man for himself with 3 people. Well my friend's cockers timing got messed up so he took a couple of balls out and ran up and busted paint all over my other friend. Belive me this was as funny as hell. The look on his hace was priceless when he saw he got marked by a guy without a marker.....

One guy did that when we played a centerflag game, but he wasnt that smart. He ranout of co2 right beofr ethe game, so he dropped it, and deicded to play ne wasy. It woudl have been fine, had he decided to go slowly to the flag, but he made a mad dashh first thing. His other players didnt cover him becsue they had trouble geting to a bunker., so four other gusy and i unloaded on him, The wors tws he didnt stoio running for a while, so we keot shooting, until he stopped runing. He was covered form head to toe with paint, which was dumb for him, but as it ened up, they one, becasue we wasted all or paint on him, and we play hopper ball. So, sometimes kids without guins can actually help. I dont think he metn to tough, he was jsut a dumb kid who kept running and got the piss shot out of him

Never done it with a marker but I have had poeple surrender to me when I was out of paint. You really have to sell that you are about to light them up LOL ;)

One time I ran out of co2 the first 5 minutes of the game (very stupid of me not to get it filled be fore hand, I thought I had enough for one more game) and I ran around taking fire as a destraction (never got hit either :) ) Than after the centerflag was pulled the guy who pulled it tosed it to a nebiw who was hidding after he got out. So I ran a up to the newbie and told him to get into the action and give me the flag. So that guy ran up and started shooting at the other team while I ran up and made the flag hang.

Any gun can be used in a tournament. But if you have a upgraded spyder, i would say sell it and get a mag or cocker. Now i love spyders and piranahs, but as much as i hate to say it, they dont match mags and cockers.

I was playing about a ten on ten game. The other side had one guy left, and he had an angel. We had two guys left(including me), but the other guy had no idea what he was doing. I was using my backup gun (a winchester. don't laugh) While he wasn't looking, I moved up right next to him and shot him in the goggles with a WINCHESTER! That's a story proving a guy with a sucky gun can still outperform and guy with an angel.

(warning, I would not recommend actually trying this. could result in serious injury.)

I have a couple buddies with tricked out Mags and I have taken them both out with a an old tippmann 68 special. I think the funniest part is when they brag about how their gun can shoot 13 balls per sec and the tippman puts them to shame. O' the humiliation.
