What kind of guns do you use and other equipment to give people an idea of what kind of gun and or equipment is available

My friend uses an emag, 88/4500 max flow, egg2 and a freak. With no drop the thing is gigantic (I couldn't use it too well), but with the reactive trigger of an emag (hybrid mode!) I've never seen a marker more suited for cover fire or cutting people down.

I shoot the gun on my sig. I'm a pretty big guys so I can't hide effectively on the snake or any single barrel Bunker. :|

I will soon be getting a Titanium Hammer and Maddman rocket valve. I'm hopping that the lighter hammer, will reduce the amount of kick that i currently get from my setup.

Trigger is about 1.5 mm

i keep hearing people saying that cockers are not good back player guns at all i personally think they are just talking out of their *** what do you guys think

PolicarStudios
01-05-2003, 09:51 AM
Considering I'm one of the people who's saying it, I believe it's very true. Cockers are good guns, but an electro is far better suited towards back players. I'm not saying a cocker will be a terrible disadvantage, but once you're up against people shooting 12bps streams without any effort, you won't be able to keep up. I have a friend who fires very fast on a stock mechanical spyder though, so I'm not one to say everyone who has a mechanical cocker fires slowly, but I think cockers are less suited to back players than almost any other marker. If you use one and use it well, good for you. If you play back and are looking for a new marker, a cocker would not be my first recommendation, however.

can't go wrong with a mag (cough cough *emag* cough cough) then you can play back + go front of mid if needed

Blazestorm
01-05-2003, 10:08 AM
The thing is... alot of people tuck in when a few balls are shot at them, because what if one of those balls hit their hopper? they're out.

One way I move up in recball (like splat attack) is fire 2 balls at every bunker I know there is someone at, than I move up without worrying about anything, and even when people are shooting at me I just snap shoot them to get them in than I wait for them to pop out.

Any gun can be in any position. :P

R.U-A.S.S Rocks
01-05-2003, 12:24 PM
i agree what i think it's not how well the gun goes with the position but how well the player can use the gun with a cocker you can add things to make it more suited for you

I play strickly back, and move to mid once we have position. I personally use an Autococker. There is more to playing back than rate of fire. True, and electro will give you more BPS, but an experienced player with a well tricked out gun can match the BPS cap for NPPL paintball with an Autococker, so dont buy into that. An Autococker has great air efficiency once you go LP with a good airsmith. So with a 68/4500 tank, you can get tons of shots off (Which is a back players bread & butter). With most electros you dont get the type of efficiency you can get with a cocker (Actually, most of them are gas hogs). The feel of the gun counts for a lot as well (Personal Preference).

You can play any position with any gun, but some guns are more suitied for some positions than others. I would not take an autococker to play front because the snapshooting is a little slower than that of a well tricked electro. Skill makes up for any shortcomming with your marker, so dont take this at face value. But if you want to go through 2600 rounds without an air refill, take the cocker.

All I have to say is please don't get an 18 inch barrel it will cause so much trouble. At longest get a 14 but that is too long for speed ball. With longer than 14 you have to turn you velocity up so much you will explode balls in your barrel or breach. :(

part of the reason is because aka is very good with gas effeciency they obviously know what they are doing with the tornado and sidewinder so that's no that surprising

Not unless,
1) He plays SupAir
2) He's got an Lvl 10 bolt.

On the other hand, there is no real benefit to a 18" barrel other than for sighting.

Hi fellow back player.

I used to own a shocker but didnt like it.

I now use a 2k2 cocker with eblade. It is fast. Edit: Very Fast. It also balences nice with my 12 inch freak. Now barrel size is crutial for back players. I find a 14 or a 12 best. Some say 16 is good for back, but it just casuse more drag on the ball when u want to get out a nice 10 bps string.

Now I carry a 4 pod xtreme rage pack, with 4 140rnd pods. Also have a full 12 volt and a full warp feed.

I highly recomend a warp feed to a back player. It allows for insane feed rates, reduces your profile, and doesnt get in the way as much a say, a big hopper like a halo.

As for harnesses I am in the middle of buying a new one my self. My old one (Jakko) really sucked. I would recommend that you carry at least 5 pods with you, and always bring some spares to a tournament. Someplayers have a bad habit of stealing tossed pods.

with a 4.3, and 150 round pods, you'll be carrying a half case on the field, plus what's in your hopper. IMO, that's enough for 5-man.

R.U-A.S.S Rocks
01-17-2003, 05:07 AM
yea we have been discussing how much paint we need to carry on the field and how much we need to buy for a tourney so we can get enough money

MuckRaker
01-17-2003, 05:32 AM
yeah, we're just setting up our team, and there's a definite learning curve associated with tourney play. Now this is what some friends on various teams told me. Every player buys once case of paint for the tournament and that's used as team paint. AFter that runs out, eachplayer is responsible for paying for his paint.

The thing to remember, in the scenario I described above. That half case of paint your carrying might last you two games, maybe only one. So, if you as the back player using a 4.3 with 150 round pods, has to play six preliminary games, you're gonna need about three to four cases of paint ... and then more if you advance to the semi and final rounds.

Now, if the tourney you're playing is BYOP, you're lucky. But, if it's FPO, you're gonna shell out about $400 for the tourney.

We're lucky, the local tournaments we play in are BYOP, and the stores here don't gouge your wallet. Unfortunately, we want to travel to some bigger venues, and that's gonna cost BIG BUCKS!

I'd prefer to see some of these promoters upping their registration and allowing teams to bring their own paint, or sell their paint onsite for $40-$50 a case.
