I love both of these companies and wanted to know what you guys think about them. I did not include tippmann because they are just not as good as PMI or Kingman.

The companies' guns are very similar, w/ PMI having a slight edge. The customer support, however, is a different story. Spyders are made in Asia and come w/ a 90-day warranty. Pirahnas, on the other hand, are made in the USA and have a 1-year warranty. The quality PMI puts into their markers and support really shows. I still like spyders, but I just prefer pirahnas.

Tippmanns are so much better than both of those companies!!!
Tippmanns are more reliable and have the BEST customer service. Plus, they are just flat out better guns. TIPPMANN IS THE BEST!!!!!!!!!

well.....
I don't know about anyone else...but customer support really means nothing to me.....

I mean it took me about three weeks to start to modify my marker.....and the "warranty with it"..until almost no stock parts are left to warranty.....so 90 days..1 yr..who cares....

If you can't fix anything that can possibly go wrong with your marker....(aside from fixing from abuse)...then you need to read this board just alittle....and you will learn more than any customer support person can tell you...and make one killer marker while your at it....

I realize this. However, the question asked was "Who is the better gun maker." I answered this, and gave reasons. Most people do end up modding, but the nicer warranty is a nice fall-back cushion.

I like being able to call the support line at pmi 24 hrs a day and get help with my gun. I've actually never used it though, so I guess PMI makes better guns.LOL!

Customer service is very important. If you strip the threads in your ASA, no amount of super glue or ingenuity is gonna let you fix em, so you have 2 choices, shell out the money for a new one, or if you've got a place with great custoemr service, they may send you a new one and save you the money and hassle of buying a new one. Customer service is important

in my opinion kingman is a much better gun maker than PMI. this winter me and my friends would play in 20 degree weather and my SE never broke or stopped shooting. i have seen 4 people who recently bought pirhana's and none of them have worked. they have leaked everywhere and won't shoot. who cares about the warranty, i would go with a spyder.

My sts works great. Never leaked. My wife se works great, too, but if hers breaks now there is no warranty. Mine is good untill april 2002.

Which one is better; that is a matter of personal preference, people who like Tippman markers swear by them. The same is true for people who like PMI markers. Unfortunately no paintball magazine has developed an accurate test to compare markers to determine which ones are more accurate, shoot farther, faster and harder.

I used a Pirahna once (it had orange grips and a double finger trigger and it shot like a joke. I could not beleive the Pirahnas are placed in the same league as Spyders or M98s. In my opinion they are down there with Brass eagle. They shoot like that BE Samurai.

OK, Maybe that was a little of a bad comparison. They are both Begginer style Blow-Backs so it doesnt really matter. Its all about personal reference. I perfer my Spyder even though I am not trying to be opionated...I hate them both equally :-)

I shoot a Raptor!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and i love it and i am good! so once again its not the gun its the player i think pmi is much better structure

Spyder they have been around longer so they have had more time to work out the kinks.

yeah they are durable but that is because you cant fix em besides that they suck the triggers are heavy the gun is ugly and shoots slow and even fully upgraded it comes nowhere close to being "good" and if you think a tippmann is easy to upgrade you are somkin crack spyders and pmi guns are so much better and easier to upgrade definetly buy a kingman or pmi gun or an aci gun

The only reason Tippmanns are so good is their Durability and there are so many upgrades. That's about it. I would go with Kingman over PMI.

I believe that PMI is a better manufacturer. They are beating out Kingman on product innovation, quality, and support. They have some new designs put out on their new Piranhas that really improve the quality of the marker. laser cut sear, disengaged trigger safety, button that holds the sear doen so you dont have to pull the trigger when you push the bolt back into the marker. All these innovations improve the reliabilty, longevity, and overall quality of the product.

Nice PMI!

I have a model 98 and it has a trigger pull of less than 3 lbs. If you say 98's have a hard trigger pull your smokin crack you tard. Tippmann has GREAT customer service. I wanna get a PMI Piranah sts g2 if anyone want's to sell one to me.

I HATE SPYDERS!!!!! My friend has a shutter and locktite all the screws so they wouldn't fall out. He couldn't stripp his gun and the service center sucks so much that now he's stuck with a 200 dollar peice of garbage that spyder owners would call a masterpeice. You know what they say"One mans gabage is another mans treasure"

all i have to say is kingman and PMI are pretty close. Tippmans are alright but not as good as Kingman or PMI.

kingman, but its personal preference cause it company is great

I voted for Kingman because they have been around longer and they do not have the plastic trigger frame like the PMI's. PMI does make awesome guns. If I did not have an Xtra I would get one of the G3's. PMI does have better costomer service though.

you like kingman better cuz they don't have plastic trigger frames? Have you felt one? Their sturdy as hell man, and they're light...and if you dont like it, there are piranhas with alluminum frames. Sorry, just seeemed like an odd reason to choose one over the other.

I like PMI, but I've never owned a Kingman, so my opinion is biased. :)

Ahh, but you see, PMI actually GIVES A **** about working out the kinks, whereas Spyder is perfectly content to never fix anything as long as they're making money.

PMI and Tippmann are about even in my eyes, on a level FAR above Kingman. One thing that makes me respect PMI is that they don't include expansion chambers in their guns, as opposed to Kingman, who puts on a POS-does-nothing x-chamber and then charges you extra for it. Another is that they are made by a company who will make their product well and then stand behind it. Some of the things that make me like Tippmann are that they come with very, very good triggers (which, to me, is the number one thing to look for in a blowback - every other problem can be easily fixed, but if your gun comes with a lousy trigger, you'd better have a nice garage full of tools if you want to fix it). Sure they come with lousy barrels, but hey, nobody keeps stock barrels anyway (well, so far I have, but that's because I don't plan on using my current gun for much longer). Model 98's will, as soon as you buy a new barrel, be faster than, and at least as accurate as, any Spyder, regardless of how many gimmicks Kingman can cram on to it.

I am not biased, because although I love Piranhas and Tippmanns, I own a Spyder!

Time for me to have some fun:)

MI gets my vote, because:
Better customer service
better quality control, Kingman doesnt make consitant parts
Kingman casts some parts, PMI's part are full machined, thus, more quality
PMI DID infact invent the stacked tube blowback, anyone who says Piranhas are spyder clones is on crack, Kingman cloned PMI
Kingman is metric
Kingman is located in Tiawan (even thought they're website is kingmanUSA.com)
Kingman has screwed up offset bottomline holes
PMI's powerfeed weld looks better, this doens affect performance, but sure as hell looks better
PMI has some nice fetures, sear released slide for expample

thats about it, Jesterdude, your a joke, PMI is no where near a 20 dollar buy-at-walmart samuri

This thread is so overdone it's not funny, but instead of deleting it, since there are so many comments, I'm gonna move it into the Blowback Forum
