It could be considered good news and bad news depending on your point of view. Seems Boo-Yaa has run off in the night and shut down shop. Not surprising considering the owners history. IIRC I posted about that subject a while back. Hmm, maybe not here. Anyway, short history:
Diamond Labs - They made accessories, cheap stuff and most of it worked pretty good considering the simpleness of the parts. They even managed to make a working mag reg body. They cut and ran on night and left everyone going "What the hell just happened?"
Les Industries - They made the Joker line of guns. Well, from what I can gather they either modified stock Infernos or just outright knocked them off. They were not around very long and Jokers are a rare sight. Seems the company dissapeared off the face of the earth.
Toxic Toys - They made the Tribal line of electronic guns. These were cheap electros that were to originally use autococker bodies. When that didn't work they just used autococker threaded barrels and a cocker-like body. echanicly the gun wasn't too shabby considering what you paid. But the electronics were crap all the way and some of the shoddiest electrical engieneering around. They up and dissappeared one day and took a lot of peoples guns with them. The guns got sold on E-bay by the owner. NOTE: Toxic Toys does NOT equal Bad Boys Toys! They made that expressly clear on the phone one day.
Boo-Yaah - Made electronic grips and was even slated to make some barrels. Knowing the history of the owner I recommended to my boss that we stay away from this company despite the fact that our competitors in town carried the frames. We had tried the Hyper frames and weren't really impressed, how would a cheaper frame fare? @#%$ it feels good when you make a good call. As predicted, the owner has stuck to his tried and true business model, sell lots of crap and them cut and run. The website is gone, according to reports no one is answering phones and if you have a frame in for warrantee work or any other reason you can kiss it goodbye, we lost two tribals that way with Toxic.
The connecting factor between these companies is a man named Franciuos Louvet.(sp?) He owned them all. His parents reportedly own a manufacturing plant in Bulgaria where, yup, all these companies products were manufactured. And if you look at the new Boo-Yaah barrel ads they list 'cocker thread as Autococker/Tribal. Why include the tribal and not the defiant or the intimidator or the diamont gt even? Its a strong pointer if not actually proof.
So why does this this guy do this, even with apparantly successfull ventures? I don't know. But there are theories. Some say he does it as a tax writeoff. Others say its done to keep from having to honor warrantee work. Then again, it could just be a big scam to make some money. You can walk away with a lot of cash if you forget to pay your bills and dump warrantee parts on auction. It eventually catches up but he's gone by then.
