no if your asking people if your ready by just your guns then hell no. trust me it doesn't matter what gun you have as long as you have skill go to your field watch each other see what needs practice then you be the judge my 3 man team compeated in two tournaments and got our butts whooped the first time because we weren't focusing on what need help on the week before the next tournament we place 2nd and at first we placed last this helped us a lot i am sure it will help you

i seriously doubt your ready for novice. most novice tourneys most people have cockers, mags, and angels (mostly), and lots of money. no offense to you, but you just dont have the equipment. Even if you guys are good, you play in a novice tourney and youll find out the hard way that equipment really makes a difference.

True. What's your cash like? Ever seen how much a Novice team shoots in a big tourney (ie. NPPL)?? It's not uncommon for back players to shoot half a case. You're gonna need lots of money for paint.

Wtf? Ya half a case in a game. I easily go through 340 rounds a game (a hopper and pod)

You are not ready for novice. Don't even try, if your teammates are scared of a gun that shoots 6bps they will **** their pants when they see an angel. Go to a field, play more and then you will be ready. Tourney ball isn't an easy thing.

half a case.... in nppl back players use way more than that... a 1 to 1.25 of a case of paint on their back + a football, and their hopper. plus u need lots of money... and a real sponsor... a real sponsor who pays for almost everything... paint, registration, hotel, food, money, air, equipment, clothes and stuff like that.

you might need guns to enter a tourney. you listed a couple of those people and they dont even have gun.

they are afraid of a tippmann??? If that is true, your team will suck

It is. Novice is also sometimes reffered to as Amateur B.

Maybe you should try a small tourniment at a local field. Tournaments are fun and they are a good experience, but there is no reason to spend lots of cash on this novice tourni and not win a game.

Tournis are fun, but they can be expensive. Find some small local ones that wont cost you much for paint and such.

Oh yah, btw. If you are a team of friends that are just starting out, i thik a tourni at a local field would be good for you. Becuase, if you win enough small tournis there, the local field might sponsor you. And that sponsorship could get you paint and air and maybe even equipment.

Start small, think big.

yeah i seriously recomend you start local rookie tourneys. you only need maybe a case for the day, and paint limit is like 300 rounds a game. you will learn much more.

Techinially any team is ready but are you ready to play thats the question. You need money time to practice ways to get to where you need to be and fun.

i'm starting a team right now, we're thinking of entering in a tournament sometime in late august, we don't have any sponsors or anything, the team is really just starting out (still recruiting memebers) there aren't many rookie tournaments around where i live (that i know of). how should i go about getting sponsored? i don't think i could get one from the local paintball shop because the owner has his own team.

Try other fields that sponser and play with your team to show how good you are and hope they will sponcer you.

definitely try to play in a smaller less competitive tourney first, and GO TO WATCH SOME TOURNAMENTS!!! i cant stress that enough, that alone should tell you if your ready. oh and you might want to tie up all your friends and unload a hopper or two on them, cus thats what a novice tourney will be like if you go into it now.

Its not that bad. Half the time its just being in your bunker not being able to get out because if you do your mask and gun will be painted. They usally hit your gun first in tournments.

How about my team?

Me- 1 and a half years playing,Back, Impulse
Matt- 1 and a half years (Really good), front, Tricked 98
Rob- 2 years, middle, Cocker
Dan- 2 years, front, Tl+ Tricked
John- 1 half years, Back middle, Mag

I know you cant tell yet, but if we are playing on the same side at our field, we always win.

well if you always win, then you must be pretty good. but is the competition any good at your field???

KoRnMaN
08-01-2001, 06:32 AM
Well then why are you asking us if you already know your good? Trust me if can take out half your field in rec play or more your good enough for tourny's because half the players that play rec are tourn'y players anyway.

its not just the gun that plays the position, its the type of player usin the gun, maybe the guy with the mag isnt agressive enough and is beter at shots from a mid distance.

Its just what we play. I know that sounds stupid, but matt will not trade in his 98 for anything! He's stubborn about it, it does shoot nice, but nothing compared to the mag or impulse. Maybe if we get 1st or 2nd, he'll get something better.

Yes, exactly what venom said.

-Knux just needs a max flow lock ring thingy....

my first tournament i played with a borrowed pirahana (cant remember what gun it was, just that it was old, low-end and very basic). one or two guys on our team were just getting into paintball, and not experienced. we didnt know what we were doing.

so did we win? heck no. were we brutally killed in almost every game? yep. did we have fun? yes. if your team is wanting to play in a tournament, you're probably ready. just know what you're going up against, know what to expect.
decide for yourself what you want to do, but try to make an informed decision.
