I am TORN between the best of both worlds- speed/accuracy. I am deciding between a used, but perfectly conditioned and restocked with 2k3 free flow parts and freak barrel Free Flow autococker, or a AKA viking. I know this seems weird. But I am not familiar with cockers, and what I hear about free flows are great. From some, I hear cockers arent reliable and a lot of the times tend to break down. Also, they have terrific accuracy and distance, and if learned,so I hear, you can really rip with the trigger. So the only problem I have with the cocker is 1- Is it reliable 100%? 2- Is timing difficult and painstaking? 3- Is learning about a cocker timely and annoying? 4- How difficult is maintainence and how often must it be maintained? Now on the other side of the table is the Viking. A super low pressure, open bolt electro. I've heard that these guns can seriously seriously rip. And with the new caps being taken off, it's supposed to achieve ROF levels of unphathomability (is that a word?) So they have no kick, reliable, sturdy, well balanced, accurate, etc. My problems with the Viking are 1- Are they light?(not like sfl light but to an extent light enough to not feel the weight bother you). 2- Is this distance and accuracy the same or very close to a cocker with the same paint/barrel match and fps? 3- Looks aren't that important, but does it have smooth trigger and operation? 4- Is it necessary to uprade the barrel to something like a DYE Ti or ultralite or a freak? I know I have asked many questions, and most of these can be found by research. But I have done the research, and STILL these same questions bother me at night, when I'm at work, when im in school. I definitely think its marker fever. But i really would like to know so i can think clearly again hehehe. So in comparison : 1- Which 1 is the better one for the buck? 2- Which one is more accurate and better distance( Comparing relatively closely) 3- Which one is smoother and more well balanced? 4- Since I am not an avid tourney player, but I do play them, so i am a rec/tourney player, which one would suit my needs of maitainence and performance? I know I have asked about 590 questions, but if someone can answer them or several people answer them seperately, I would be much obliged. Thanks for reading gentlemen, and thank you for any replies that can help my inquiries.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Cocker

1.) They are reliable if you don't screw with them
2.) Timing is not that difficult, it takes time to get it right but its like sticking an allen wrench down the top and turning... maybe tuning the 3-way... but once it's set... it shouldn't move... if it does, take it to a shop, they've most likely done hundreds of cockers so they can fix it fast
3.) Cockers are very very simple in my opinion, as simple as a spyder, yes it has more parts but its simple once you get the concept down.
4.) To maintain a cocker... take out the bolt... clean the inside... maybe grease the bolt... not a lot to do after a day's play... if theres paint on the peunmatics or in cracks use a bit of water (bit like a tiny bit) and q-tips and toothpicks to get in those cracks and things

Viking

1.) They are decently reliable, I've seen a few vikings go down, one died last weekend... just... died... he tried over 10 different batterys, took it apart and cleaned it... rehooked the board up and everything... it just... died
2.) Nothing much to set on a viking, when you first get it, put the bolt in backwards and dry fire a few tanks of air to break it in... pretty much
3.) Vikings are simple as well, not as simple as spyders... more complex, but once you get the concept down you're set.
4.) Basically the same as a cocker, take the bolt out... you won't have to grease it... I'm almost positive its delrin, if its aluminum put some grease on that and clean the inside.

Cocker

1.) They are accurate, and shoot farther than open bolt guns, I don't give a damn what people say that all guns shoot the same distance, I shot my friends viking, 295 293 296 294 and it felt like it was shooting 220-230, my cocker was shooting farther and straighter at 270-280 fps.
2.) If you get a hinge on it and learn how to shoot it.. get good at it, they can rip, or get an eblade and you get the best of both worlds.
3.) Cockers aren't the lightest guns in the world yet not the heaviest, milled cockers are light, but my mag is 2 pounds lighter than my dye cocker

Viking

1.) They are accurate with good paint, my friend suggests using a large bore barrel and shooting any paint you want, it seems to make sense because the barrel is to straight out the flight of the ball right? if the ball is moving through an opener space it has time to straighten itself out if theres more room
2.) These things can rip, short light smooth trigger, flip a switch and pull the trigger
3.) My friend had no drop whatsover, he took an apocalpse rail and an on/off rail adapter and had it like that... VERY unbalanced, hard to play with but when I was playing back... I went through a hopper without even realizing it.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

1.) In my honest opinion? Cocker.
2.) In my honest opinion? Cocker.
3.) In my honest opinion? Cocker.
4.) In my honest opinion? Cocker.

I think I answered everything... my fingers aren't even sore! common man, gotta ask more than that.

I hope I helped you, I like cockers and mags... not emags... mags... and cockers...

I dont care what people say... cockers shoot farther straighter and flatter than anything else, cept shockers... :)

thanks a lot bro, I think the Free Flow is my best choice!
