i have had my tippmann 98 custom for about 6 months now, i have added on a response trigger and a plamer stabilizer regulator to my gun since then. they have worked great together all until earlier today. today i went out and played, all was fine thru the first game. then my gun started uncocking every maybe 50 shots. then as i shot maybe 500 shots thru my 20oz tank. it would uncock like every 10 shots. i thought, alright the weathers messing with my gun. i put the 14oz on, and it uncocked maybe every 20 shots or so. my guns been sitting around for a while, and i opened it up, cleaned it, checked o rings, checked sear, checked bolts, checked everything. and i cant see a damn thing wrong. i then shot some oil thru it....i could only get a shot or two off before i would have to recock it again, and this is maybe on a half full 20oz tank. i tried the 14oz, its just as bad. so i ruled out weather, orings, sear, bolts.....so i guess its the valve then isnt it. if you have any info please help me!

did it recock like 3/4 of the way or almost all the way?

of so mine has done that i havent figured it out yet but i think it is pinching a ball and you hav eto cock it to get the ball to drop it seems to be the only thing that could possibly happening

also i have talked to someone else that has had this problem and he couldnt figure it out

im not sure wht your talking about, but the thing about the ball isnt right because im dry firing right now out the window with a quite heavy(full) 20oz co2 tank and i get one shot good then the 2nd shot its kind of muffled and i have to recock, then the same thing over again. thats wht it was doing at the field. the only thing i can think of is the valve, because i just turned off my RT

i bet your mainspring is worn. get a new one, if it dont work, at least you still have an extra mainspring.

are you missing the screws that hold in your valve? if you lose the back one or both of them the gun loses to much blowback gas and cant recock. i had this prob and so has everyone else i know that have tippys. if you are than just call tippmann and they will send you some.

It sounds like your sear is not catching. Check to see if it has worn down, if you are recking your trigger, you might be shooting your marker so much that it has worn down your sear. Check it out.
