The RANGE on a flatline does increase...but its accuracy does not (backspin will only create a basketball like effect...make it "bloop" in)...any barrel will be better, you're not going to be making many shots with a flatline anybody else can. I have been shot by a flatline the and backspin allows my eyes ot pick it up from the barrel onward and I will dodge it consistently to the point I will have a perfect flanking position. That's my $.02
My opinion is that depends on what kind of paintball you are playing. if you are in the woods with branches over head the flatline is awesome. It will put paint in places and at distances that no one with out a flatline can get near. now it is not as accurate as some markers but if you friends are shooting spyders and tippmanns etc.. its will shoot as accurate as those but much further. If they are shooting auto cockers and shockers, their accuracy will definatly be better. I have 2 flatine barrels , although I only have one tippmann and I dont play with it often but in the woods it will shoot farther than you can see a clear break. so if you play with guys that cheat it can be tough. If you are in the open other markers can rain paint almost as far but it is tough aiming a marker at 45 deg in the air...... If you are playing speedball dont buy one.

I just put a flatline on my tippmann. Some things you should know first. Get a low pressure kit and secondary regulator. Dial the regulator down to 450 to 470 psi. Then set your gun to 270-280 fps. I set mine up and it is smooth. I'm also shooting Bigball paint. I haven't tried anything else yet.:D

this question comes up a lot...in short, there's plenty of argument as to weather it's effective at all, but nobody will deny that it has to be setup properly to work at all.

get the big shot. i honestly think it shoots farther than the flatline, plus if you dont line the stupid thing up straight your paint goes everywhere, also if you get a bal break, youre screwed. plus the bigshot is like 50 bucks compared to the 100 dollar flatcrap

the only accurate description fo the flateline, is that it is the best, and worst barrel in the world,
due to range, you can hit people while out of there range, and the accuracy does increase over stock barrel, when properly set up, which brings us to the other side of the coin, so to speak,
for a good setup you MUST do the following,
properly align the barrel,
lower the velocity to 270-280 fps
use small bore paint(high quality is highly recomended, because inperfections ont he paint may catch on the barrel, making it spin in undesired directions, and stonger shelled paint is also recomended, best choice is probably RPS marbalizers)

Heh, I love the flatline barrel. I'm able to shoot people out when I am well out of their range. And at medium to close range, I like it just as much. IMO, it is accurate enough for me to not be able to complain about it. But yea, it does need to be set up correctly, otherwise you will hate it. And if it is windy outside, you will hate it.

NO the flatline is crap. my friends and i together have owned 3, all 3 were crap. they are incredibly innacurate, however they do increase the distance the ball flys, but only when it leaves the barrel in one piece, which frankly isnt that often. they broke every single type of paint that we tried, and every single game they fukced up. id go with a Lapco Bigshot barrel. around 40-50 bucks, great economy and about as accurate as you can get on a tippmann

Some like it some don't. If you get a chance to try it work with it before you toss it away. :D

mybro has the flatline...the only draw back is that you can't fire that quickly...it is a good barrel...it is accurate but it depends on how you hold it...if you hold it straight up then it is fine, hold it sideways then it shoots sideways...and paint don't usually break in it unless it is crappy paint...my bro uses all stars in his and they seem to work better than the reccommended marbz...the gun is accurate, you just have to accommodate for the wind and you have to AIM. the gun just takes a while to get used to!

there is 2 reasons that paint breaks in a flatline, bad paint or you barrel isnt seated got to tippmanns web sight and it will give you instructions on how to properly seat the barrel , buty some good paint and you will not break paint. Ive been there and done that.

see now i ain't no mechanic at the proshop when it comes down to fixin guns...but my suggestion is try some loctite....works for my bro and also maybe it needs a better seating....with my bros flatline it took about anywhere from a month to three months to get it on there correctly...the flatline doesn't seem as though it is supposed to be takenoff...
